  • "We had a fantastic stay at Bausley Chapel."

We visited over the Christmas period and we were not disappointed. The accommodation is a fabulous conversion of a former Chapel set in its own grounds on the top of the hill, surrounded by fabulous views of the River Severn. The weather was awful whilst there and floods everywhere, but this did not distract from a memorable stay. Bausley Chapel was a home from for us over Christmas, comfy sofas, wood burner, well stocked modern kitchen, everything easy to use. The bathroom has a long slipper bath (we have the shorter version at home!) with views over the river! The bedroom is spacious and provided for our needs. As we have a camper van, the parking was amazing. We loved our stay and have already recommended to family

  • "Just a great place to stay."

The views were tremendous and it is in easy reach of many National Trust and English Heritage properties. The chapel was extremely spacious and clean. The only thing missing was a separate shower but we got round that.

  • "Lovely place to stay, the views are incredible!"

The location is idyllic but easily accessible to many places. BBQ and log burner are great additions and bed is really comfy! Could provide a few more dishwasher tablets and coffee bits to last abit longer, and also a hoover to deal with the cobwebs that there are around. Overall an amazing time and would recommend!

  • "The property was excellent very clean and tidy and a peaceful location."

My only concerns were the 4 security cameras located around the entire exterior of the property. They made us feel we were being watched all the time, quite disconcerting really and somewhat ruined the feeling of privacy. On a second note, and probably linked, the internet was very slow so not helped by the constant feed to all the cameras. Other than that, we would thoroughly recommend if those issues didn’t bother you.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay - the views from the patio are amazing, and we loved the quick access to the hills behind, and the short walk to the Admiral Rodney!"

The decor and furnishings are great too, with lots of lovely touches - if anything, the photos don't do it justice! It was also good to stay somewhere with a strong emphasis on sustainability and recycling - so many holiday cottages don't explain the local recycling, which means we have to take all our paper, plastics, etc home with us. The main downside is that there is no view on the countryside from inside - that didn't matter for us, as the weather was lovely so we could sit out everyday. But I can imagine missing not having a view from inside on cold or wet days. As we are early risers, we did find that there was a slight smell of diesel fumes outside on the patio in the mornings when the hot-water and heating come on, and we had to move to the bench at the end of the garden to escape it. It would be good if the PIN code for the heating / hot water control could be given, so that they can switched off, or timings changed. And one final minor point, my partner is sensitive to perfume smells as they can trigger migraines, so we had to find a way of sealing away the scented sticks during our stay.

Despite the snowy weather, we were never cold and made good use of the log burner (under floor heating was really nice and kept us warm in the day). The facilities were luxurious, such as the comfy sofas, dishwasher, big bed, and bath tub, making our stay even better. The perfect stay, we'll be booking again for our third trip soon, thank you!

  • "This was our second stay at Bausley Chapel and we can’t fault the accommodation and location."

My partner and I had such a lovely restful stay in peace and tranquillity. The Chapel has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The log burner is a bonus but the Chapel is so warm that we didn’t really need to use it other than the fact it looks nice when it’s on. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. The bath is amazing because you have that beautiful view of the rolling Welsh countryside that you can enjoy whilst in the bath. Also plenty of hot water so you can stay in the tub as long as you want and not get cold. The bed is very comfortable and all in all the place feels like home. I love being at the Chapel so much that I have booked again in March to go and spend my birthday there. If you like walking then the location is ideal. No need to drive anywhere as you’ve got the countryside walks right outside. Love the outdoor area of the Chapel which in the warmer months is great for barbecues and just sitting out and enjoying that spectacular view. Nice that you can park your car off road as well. Welshpool which is only 9 miles away provides a Tesco and Aldi if you need food supplies. The Chapel and it’s location really is a little patch of paradise to enjoy. If it’s peace and quiet that you’re after then it’s definitely the place to go.

Beautifully presented high quality holiday home and we rather like the fact that it is not over priced. A lot of self catering holiday accommodations are expensive but Bausley Chapel is well priced making it a rare find. Bausley Chapel is a place we would definitely love to return to for a holiday or 4. A very warm and homely atmosphere and we liked reading the mini history of it that the owners had written in the welcome book.

  • "A wonderful old building in a great location with magnificent views."

A pity, however, about the very impractical bath that was unsuitable for showering. Also, the sink in the kitchen island unit was poorly designed insofar that there was no proper plate/cutlery drainage unit which meant constant wiping of the wooden surface. The main area was rather dark even during the day but I would not wish these shortcomings to detract from a wonderful week that my wife and myself had!

  • "Just back from a lovely week away in this chapel/cottage."

Photos show the property as was on arrival so no surprises, however, the postcode as per satnav leads you in a slightly different direction so google maps prior to our visit helped. The cottage is on a road but this isn't busy, so the week away was very quiet and relaxing with lovely views from the bench in the garden. The area had plenty of options for days out (National Trust) and if going into Shrewsbury the Oxon park and ride is a must, as is the indoor market. We would book again!

  • "Bausley Chapel was beautiful, comfortable, and so relaxing."

Ideal for us as a couple, we spent the evenings lounging in the sun taking in the views, BBQ'ing, and enjoying some much needed relaxation. We wanted somewhere quite, peaceful and remote.. and got it! Still close enough to towns and tourist areas, we enjoyed being able to visit the area and retreating back to tranquility later in the day. The interior of the property was so special and cozy, with luxury that we wouldn't normally get at home. Such a comfortable and big bed! The only downside was the bath not having any sort of protective screening to prevent water splashing around, and washing hair took a very long time due to the bath style. However, we were happy to go with what was there as it was a different experience and suited the property well.

Never in 50 years had to wait till 5 pm to access property, Heating very poor , Hot water ran out by the afternoon, a pyrex jug would be useful to boil milk for cereal etc, the property was nice and clean , directions to the property not good , we liked the property and location, being in our late 70s the lack of heating with out lighting fire not good

Thank you for your valued feedback. The 5pm check-in is in place to give us a sufficient amount of time to carry out the change-over clean and any necessary maintenance to the property / grounds. As the chapel is fully booked for most of the year, this is the only time during the booked periods where we get to do this. We are sorry if this affected your stay. Thank you for letting us know about the Pyrex jug, as we weren't aware the existing one had been broken. I am sorry you had problems with the heating. The garden is such a lovely space to sit out in and enjoy a drink in the evening and watch the sunset. The only thing I would like to point out which I did notice, the coffee machine was full of old used pods from previous holidayers - and their seemed to be quite a lot of cobwebs and dust gathering around the top of the oven space and in the top of lamps.
