  • "We loved our stay in this cottage."

The views over the valley and mountains were stunning. Being off the beaten track the area is very quiet. Other than a couple of chance meetings with Bob the owner over the week and Tina just before we left we didn't see a soul around the cottage for the whole week. The only thing I would change from our personal point of view is the sofas. We're no spring chickens any longer and found them a little low to sit on and difficult to get out of, but that's probably just us. Overall we enjoyed it so much that we booked again for next year within 2 days of returning home.

  • "What a wonderful place to spend a week!"

! Bob and Tina are so friendly and helpful. The whole place was cosy, the bed was comfortable, there was plenty of space and the views and setting were just amazing!! I would recommend this cottage to anyone. There are two EV chargers which is so rare and thank you to Bob for installing those. Note that the Laundry Room is out of the back door and turn left. We couldn't find this info anywhere in the cottage and I think the Information folder possibly needs going through to check that all the necessary info is there and up to date. There was a really good suggestion in there, though, for the Salt Marsh Kitchen in Tywyn which we would highly recommend also. Just a couple of things to mention but they didn't make much difference to us and wouldn't put us off going back. The duvet filling, despite shaking, remained quite bunched up in places, as did the pillows. Anyway, we didn't manage to sort that out. We still slept really well as the heating was very efficient. The frying pan is bowed so spins around on the hob and only really cooks in the centre...again, we managed just fine...first world problems etc. A small set of digital scales would be useful, unless they are there and I just didn't find them. A superb property and we hope to be back!

Clean and comfortable and great for us to head out from for walking. Would like to point out though that the stated washing machine at the property in the details is actually in a shared utility room outside not in Dysynni itself. It would also be useful to have a food waste bin as we cooked in most days. Otherwise, a lovely stay.

The cottage was full of cobwebs and spiders, even the patio door curtains had cobwebs spanning from curtain to door frame. If you have a young dog thus is NOT for you as there is not one part of the garden/patio area that is enclosed. we had our 1 year old labrador on lead all week if we had doors open. Even the stable style door was not secure if you had the top open the bottom was easily pushed open. More kitchen baking trays, pots etc are needed. Other than that it was lovely, the upstairs lounge was a gem beautiful views of the hills.

The cottage was the perfect place to unwind from the frenetic life and enjoy the wonderful landscape that is all around this plot. We also had 2 dogs with us which loved this place a lot too! The garden is very large but not completely fenced/closed so we decided to keep our dogs on the lead to avoid possibile inconvenience. The cottage was very well cleaned and extremely cosy. We absolutely loved our time there. The stone walls are so thick that you are quite unlikely to hear any sounds coming from the cottage next to Dysynni. The log burner is a surplus! We visited in a very windy and rainy week, so that helped us keeping nice and warm for late games (although there’s a central heating in the property which works completely fine). Real pretty the choice of bedding. Not even mentioning the washing powder: the smell of clean was fantastic. The host gives customers the opportunity to write their feedback in a visitor book and also a maintenance book, should something requiring fixing/repairing or simply suggesting how to get better. We did in fact mentioned only a couple of things regarding the maintenance/improvements: one was about the dishwasher which has done its cycle but somehow has not washed the dishes; the other one was the wifi which doesn’t always work. We didn’t mind either of them because we didn’t prepare big meals and we went there with the intention of relax and escape. Extremely fast and organised the management regarding the log burner which one night had an issue but it was immediately solved within 24h. We would definitely come back again! (If we can)

  • "The cottage is in a beautiful setting, down a narrow country lane a few minutes drive outside of Bryncrug."

There are many nice, thoughtful touches to the cottage. As we arrived on 23rd December, the Christmas decorations were a lovely surprise. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful views across the estuary toward the rolling hills of the countryside from the mezzanine floor and the peace and quiet of this stunning location. The furniture and bedding is of a high quality and little extras like providing cleaning products and handwash is so helpful. The additional laundry room is a plus if you have reason to use it. The garden is lovely but isn't fully enclosed so we kept our puppy on a long lead for exercise. There is a pleasant if short walk down the lane alongside the estuary, if you turn left out of the cottage drive and Tywyn Town and beach is an easy 8 to 10 minute drive away with other great places to visit near by. On the downside there are a few unfortunate issues we encountered which could easily be resolved. We were very disappointed to find the kitchen wasn't very clean at all. Some of the utensils weren't clean, for example the frying pan had grease on it and I had to wash all the saucepans and roasting tin before I could use them to cook Christmas lunch. The oven hadn't been cleaned in ages and was quite disgusting! Not what I expected at all. The bathroom would benefit from better lighting or a lit mirror as my hubby found shaving near impossible. A small unit or chair to put bathroom bits would be useful too. We discovered a leak under the the sink in the downstairs loo which had previously been mentioned, but was clearly not fixed. However, given that we found this on Christmas eve we didn't want to bother the owner immediately, so we dealt with it as best we could and reported it in the maintenance book. Really frustrating was the lack of instruction manuals or information for appliances, after much messing about, I worked out how to work the induction hob. Thankfully, Google was where we found instructions on using the oven and woodburner! The owners should perhaps consider that not all guests have these models at home and so won't know how to use them and basic instructions would be very helpful. Little issues that could easily be resolved with more care and attention to detail to ensure guests enjoy a trouble free stay.

Thank you for your comments, we are happy to receive both positive and negative feedback as that ensures that we are able to improve the service that we offer. We have always enjoyed excellent feedback and were naturally disappointed and concerned when we received yours. As you suggested in your comments a majority of the points raised could have been easily and quickly addressed. If you had made contact with either myself, Tina or directly with Sykes we would have attended within 10 to 15 minutes and probably resolved a majority of the points that were raised. I can only say that I am sorry and apologise that the cottage did not meet with your expectations and did not detract too much from your stay. Property Owner

The outlook was just wonderful. The weather was not kind to us, we enjoy the up stairs lounge area with the large window looking out onto the snow capped mountains. The down stairs wood burner kept the cottage very cosy. We were kindly left with enough wood to keep the wood burner going for our stay. The Christmas tree was a lovely thought.

The location of the cottage is superb; secluded with magnificent views of Snowdonia all around, also close (but not too close) to several clean, wide-sweeping beautiful beaches. Plenty of outdoor space (shared with the cottage next door) for the dogs to run around in and a super terrace with seating and eating place facing the incredible views Thoughtfully presented and equipped although not made clear that the laundry facilities are shared between the two cottages in separate annex (this didn't pose a problem for us). The terrace is perfect for sitting outside with a large glass of something or other, watching the cormorants flying back to Bird Rock as the sun sets! Tina is super, and looked after us very well indeed. The cottage is very well situated to explore this very beautiful part of Wales. Only very slight reservations- firstly it would help to have instructions for the cooker, as we weren’t familiar with induction hobs. Secondly, the garden is not completely dog-proof: my nosy terrier escaped several times, including on to the lane (which fortunately has little traffic). I advise bringing some sort of tether if your dog is an explorer!
