There were 18 in total and all enjoyed our stay the only complaint was that the hot tub was supposed to be available until 10 PM but on the Friday evening all the lights around the hot tub went off at 9 20 and it was extremely dark there were 2 disabled family member who struggled to get out because of this one of them hurt themselves I would suggest that the lights stayed on until the time it says

  • "We moved single beds together/side cabinets to find empty chocolate wrappers and clumps of dust and dirt."

We had to ask the site manager for a hoover to clean it up. On arrival the boiler was broken and we had no hot water or heating (In October) for the first 24 hours of our stay. No compensation/price reduction was offered to apologise for this. We had a 7 month old baby and 2 grandparents aged 84 with us and it was a real issue to have no hot water for a bath or heating to keep them warm through the night. This had been a known issue with the previous guests at the property and the owner had not repaired it by the time we arrived. The main external door to the games room had a 4 inch open gap between the 2 patio doors where the joining central door frame was broken. This made the house even colder and was not secure as there was a huge gap in it. Anyone could have entered the property, and despite reassurances that the area was a typically safe area, we were unable to settle knowing that one of the main doors to the house was wide open while we slept. The pool cues in the games room had no tips. There were no fire lighters for the wood burners. One of the bedroom sinks was hanging off the wall. One of the washing machine doors was broken and wouldn't open. The property claims that it doesn't allow hen parties, but in the guest book there are various comments from groups of girls that have stayed there on a hen party. This property did not provide the 5 * accommodation experience it claims to offer in our opinion. The worst part was the lack of compensation for the experience we had.

We are disappointed that you left this feedback. We did resolve the heating issue within hours of being informed at midnight of the failure with one of our two back up boilers being bought into action. Excess logs for the log burners were also provided. As for other issues highlighted, apart from the door which was immediately fixed, this is the first time these maintenance issues have been raised, which is a surprise to us especially after you provided our site manager with very positive feedback received at the end of your week stay. As for the unlocked door, we explained at the time that there are other lockable doors to the houses to provide security whilst still maintaining access between the houses. The pool cue tips are changed regularly and we do provide fire lighters. The bathrooms sinks and toilets are wall hung units, and are meant to be hanging. All are new and secure. We do no longer accept Hen and Stag groups, as per Terms and Conditions. The reviews you will have read relate to stays prior to imposing this restriction. We and our housekeepers take pride in the quality, cleanliness and presentation of our properties, and endeavor to maintain high standards and believe we continue to provide this high level of service. Thank you for providing feedback which we will motivate us to continue keeping abreast of and avoid potential future issues happening. Property Owner

About the location

Aberystwyth 12 miles.

Nestling between the Cambrian Mountains and the Cardigan Bay coastline, Devil's Bridge has been a tourist attraction for centuries and was celebrated by author George Borrow who wrote Wild Wales in 1854. This famous bridge spans the Mynach, a tributary of the River Rheidol and is unique as it is actually three bridges in one, the original built around 1100, the second above this in 1753 and the third in 1903. The bridge is at a point where the River Mynach drops 90 metres (300 ft) in 5 steps down a steep and narrow ravine before it meets the River Rheidol. The set of stone steps leading down to the lowest bridge at the waterfall are known as Jacob's Ladder. The attraction offers viewing points and after the steep walk there is a hotel and cafe for refreshments. Devil's Bridge is served by the Devil's Bridge railway station on the historic narrow-gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway, which opened between Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge in 1902 and provides wonderful scenery along the ride to the coast. This whole area boasts stunning scenery and wildlife and is renowned for walking, cycling, fishing and bird watching as well as trips to the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline with its wild cliffs and sandy beaches.

Please note: hot tub is only to be used during daylight hours or until 10pm.
