  • "We had a lovely stay in a wonderful place - thank you!"

Everything was spotless, and very comfortable. We had some concerns, having seen a recent review with problems about access for contractors, but everything was brilliant. We were told there'd be a visit to service the boiler on one of the days, but everything was made very easy for us - no need for us to wait in for anyone, and all done in a friendly and professional way. Nit-picking: the shower was old, but fine pnce we learned to turn it up to full power. After the boiler was serviced it got a lot better.

  • "The house is clean and very comfy."

The kitchen has everything you would need. The location is amazing, the town is a few minutes walk and has a variety of takeaways and also a number pubs. Short drive to the coast and plenty of walks from town. Would love to stay again

  • "Not happy on arrival, late gaining entry to the property and the front Windows were being painted, with open windows the lounge smelt of paint and because of the masking tape the room was much darker."

The tape was only removed a couple of days before the end of our 2 week stay. Not Good to be painting when you have paying guests in the property. The extractor needs attention it is coming away from its fixings. The boiler had an issue so no hot water, we were expected to remain in the house to wait for an engineer, we were on holiday so waiting for engineers is not our job. Mattress was not very comfortable We were told because of the issues we were offered a discount, oh but there was a catch, we had to book next year to get the discount, that is just laughable, expecting your guests to pay again to receive a discount which was due to your failings this year. It was apparently not possible to give us a discount this year. Don't worry we will not be booking again.

I am extremely disappointed reading your feedback as there was dialogue between us prior to your arrival and also during your stay regarding the painting situation. I apologised and from those conversations you appeared very understanding of the situation and some of the issues that I was encountering with the painter. Apologies if your entry was delayed, this is highly unusual and if I had known at the time would have helped resolve it immediately for you. With regard to the central heating you stated there was no hot water on the Sunday. An engineer called at 8.30 am on Monday morning to find that the central heating had been switched off. I can only assume that it had inadvertently been switched off by yourself. On checking the extractor fan it is not coming away from the fixing it had opened and simply needed closing. I apologise that the mattress wasn’t comfortable for you. This has not been an issue by other guests. In terms of the discount I did offer you a resolution which I thought was reasonable and I am sorry you did not feel inclined to accept this. Property Owner

  • "Very centrally located in a lovely and attractive town."

Would have liked a bigger mirror in the single bedroom! Garden rather gloomy and not very inviting. Since it was v warm all week we liked to sit out there before our evening meal. Our car did for in the garage as it was only medium size but it was a tight fit. Great having the parking permit,a lovely touch. Need to restock on the wine glasses! All the prep knives need a good sharpen too. All in all a very pleasant place to stay. Thank you Marian.

Kitchen well stocked with every utensil you may need. Love Dolgellau and it was amazing to be right in the heart of the village. Garage was a bit too tight a squeeze but the parking pass was a big bonus. Lots of hot water for a soak after all the long walks we did with the dogs. They also felt right at home. Thank you marian for the welcome gifts, and for providing such a lovely cottage. Will highly recommend and we will be back in the future. Thank you from Sheila and Rob and our doggies Daisy and Mollie

It has a great central location in the town of Dolgellau. We enjoyed eating out at the local pubs and having breakfast at TH Roberts with our two dogs. Everyone was friendly and helpful and our dogs were welcome everywhere. We had one issue with a blown fuse at the beginning of our stay which was quickly corrected by our host. The cottage is clean, well supplied with all essentials. The back courtyard was really useful. The only drawback for us was no toilet facility on the ground floor, so when we arrived back from dog walking we had to race up two flights of stairs to use the toilet. We would definitely use the cottage again.

Marion was so helpful :) The only thing I would note, and just to say that this is absolutely no issue with the house, but dogs are not allowed on any of the green spaces at all in Dolgellau. You can walk the Mawddach trail but none of the fields or parks - hefty fine! Thank you Marion we had a fab week :)

  • "It was a lovely cottage, excellently placed in Dolgellau."

The cottage was just right although we could have done with another comfy chair in the lounge, as with the three of us, my boys being teenagers and both taller than myself, needed space but that might just be our situation. Lovely little courtyard for sitting out in, couldn't get the car in the garage, did try but as it says the turning space is tight. You can park on the single yellows opposite from 6.00 pm to 9. 00.am though and at the weekend you can park in the Drs car park which is just opposite as well. Parking permit for long stay car park a real bonus as you can use it in any of the council's long stay car parks, just check the council is the same. We climbed Cadre idris. It is strenuous, and even if you don't quite manage to get to the top it is very pretty. We only got to about 810 metres,as the cloud was low and very thick on the day we went,so decided to come down again as we really couldn't see. Snowdon, was the same although we did make it to the summit. Please be prepared, when going, the weather can change very quickly and be warm/hot at ground level but freezing/wet and windy at the summit. We came across so many people who were ill prepared for the weather change and didn't know the rout they should take down! Quite alarming. It's is Rocky and steep there is no continual path and you do need good walking boots with ankle support, waterproofs, hats and gloves.. Although Barnmouth might not be your cup of tea, it is an interesting drive and would recommend going a little further up the coast for the beach. Harlech is worth a visit, go straight to the long stay car park, lots of cafes, castle is lovely, good to explore and do try the ice cream shop opposite it's lush! Dolgellau is well catered for with enough shops to get everything you might need, gatehouse steakhouse was excellent but doesn't take card payments. If you want to eat out on the Friday night, book before hand for any restaurant in that area, especially in high season. Really enjoyed our week and would recommend.

  • "We had a lovely fortnight in this cosy, comfortable cottage, very well placed in Dolgellau for exploring southern Snowdonia."

It was hugely useful having the garage for off-street parking. The garage is, as advertised, only suitable for small-to-medium cars due to the width of the doorway and the narrow road which restricts turning. We were able to (very carefully) reverse our Ford Focus Estate into the garage but only when there were no cars parked opposite. We had to fold our wing mirrors in to get through the door though, so any car wider than our Focus would not fit. The garage is wider inside than its door so there was space for unloading etc.
