  • "We booked Glan Y Wern a bit last minute as Ann had been in hospital and was not up to our normal caravan trip to Wales."

The owners were really accommodating and we checked in with no issues and the complementary Bara Brith was yummy. The cottage was very nicely presented, very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The porch is ideal for taking of your shoes and coats etc with a handy boot rack and coat hangers in the hallway. The lounge was very cozy with two 2 seater sofas, TV with BT TV box and great Internet. There was also a table and chairs that we used every day as we bought food with us. The fireplace and old beams were lovely and reminded me very much of my grandparents cottage in Wales. The kitchen Is long and narrow but was bright, warm and had everything we needed, everything was clean and ample hot water. Our bedroom was lovely and again everything was spotlessly clean. We slept like logs with no noise from the neighbours or the nearby road. Shower room was great with plenty of hot water, good towels and heated towel rails. We were plenty warm enough with the modern electric radiators and the electric fire in the stone fire place. We sat out in the evenings a couple of times in the evening sun. There are steps up to the rear garden which is fenced in and private. We noticed that previously folk with dogs said this was a shared space and not fenced in. Whilst we didn't have a dog we saw that the owners had fenced it in and it is their garden only. There is also a big stone outhouse with a tall upright fridge freezer, cushions, parasols etc and lots of space for bikes etc. There are load of coastal walks right out of the front door and the "stop on demand" Station at Tygwyn is just over 5 minutes walk so you can get all around the coast and walk back if you want to. The mountains to the rear have some amazing walks and you seldom see a soul. If you have never been to Bryn Cader Faner then look it up if you stay here. We walked every day, a mixture of beautiful sandy beaches, hills, lakes, pasture land with beauty around every corner. The mountains will wait till next time when Ann is 100% We had a great time and would have no hesitation in staying here again as we enjoyed our stay very much. Many thanks for a lovely week. Glyn & Ann

  • "The back garden is open and not suitable for pet dog."

Could do with a gated fence to rectify . No dishwasher. Otherwise a lovely cottage, attentive owners and super location for walking and beaches.

  • "Lovely Welsh cottage, very clean and a pleasure to stay in."

    Would definitely stay here again.

  • "The rear outside space is not fenced off and leads directly to a road."

It is also shared with adjoining properties. The listing indicates there is space for a dog to play outside. Technically there is, but practically there is not as it is not safe or fair on other properties.

About the location

TALSARNAU

Harlech 4 miles; Porthmadog 5 miles.

Talsarnau is a small traditional Welsh village situated in a magnificent position between the mountains and the sea, and only 4 miles from the delightful small town of Harlech, which is dominated by its majestic 13th century castle. The town is very popular with golfers, who come to enjoy the famous Royal St. David's course, whilst the beautiful 7-mile long sandy beach is wonderful for family fun and long walks. Harlech also offers an excellent variety of amenities including some good quality restaurants. Porthmadog is also close by, as is the Italianate village of Portmeirion, whilst the whole of the Snowdonia National Park, including Snowdon itself, together with the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay, are all within easy reach.
