The owners are very friendly and Glenda goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome with beautiful homemade cakes brought to the door. It is situated in a beautiful area with plenty of places to see without travelling long distances. The highlight was probably the visit to the osprey centre, just a few miles up the road. Really impressed with the thought and effort the owners have put into making sure you have a fabulous holiday. Received a lovely warm and friendly welcome from Glenda and fabulous home baked treats on arrival and midway through holiday. She really made our stay perfect without imposing. Such a lovely genuine person who was a pleasure to meet. The cottage itself is clean and so cozy to return to after fantastic days out on the fabulous beaches in the area and quaint little villages within a short drive away. Hubby loves to cook and was really impressed with the well equipped kitchen. Would recommend recommend.

  • "The cottage was very well equipped."

Everything was of very good quality. The view from the back was excellent. Hosts were very nice and homemade cakes arrived in the middle of the week. A very nice touch. Plenty to do in this very scenic area. The road is quite noisy but you do get more used to it. It is more than made up for by the comfort of the cottage. It would be good if the garden was made secure so that our dog could have been free to go outside. We had to keep her on a lead even when we sat out because of the close proximity to the road. Summing up, a fabulous place for a relaxing holiday.

  • "We spent a lovely week in April in this fabulous stone cottage, ideally located to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Ceredigion coastline."

We visited the historic town of Machynlleth and also enjoyed visits to Bettws y coed, Bedd Gelert and Aberystwyth. The house has a very comfortable living area with a woodburner –effect gas stove, perfect for relaxing in the evenings and the well equipped kitchen meant that we were able to cook well. A large area beyond the pretty gravelled garden provided a good and safe space to walk our dogs in the mornings, with wonderful mountain views an added bonus! We visited Hen Efail with older parents and found the accommodation to be perfect with everything on one level and easy access walk in showers. The friendly and helpful owners made our holiday one to remember and the homemade cakes on arrival and mid-week was a lovely touch. This is a wonderful location for sight-seeing and the cottage is a real home from home, making it the perfect place to relax and recharge. It is definitely somewhere we would recommend and plan to visit again.

  • "It does not mention in your description that this cottage is on a very busy main road (A487) which is used by all traffic between Aberytswyth and Machynlleth."

The main bedroom is within a few feet of this road and you can hear all traffic including heavy lorries until around midnight and it starts again early morning. I am a poor sleeper and despite using ear plugs coud not get a good night sleep due to excessive traffic noise. I feel this is important information and should be available to future customers. We also had bad experience about the owner complaining about our use of gas fire despite all fuel being included in the price we paid. We have requested that Sykes Cottages look into this matter to avoid similar problem for future customers.

Set in beautiful countryside, with easy access to bird and wildlife reserves, there is also a delightful train journey from Machynlleth. We ate out each evening at a couple of the local pubs, however, the kitchen was well equipped if we had decided to cater for ourselves. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and we would certainly stay here again.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and certainly a home from home, we were visited several times by Glenda with home made fare. I wish everyone who is lucky enough to stay there in the future as a wonderful a time as we had. I could not find a negative if I tried. Wonderful is my opinion, just a shame we didn't have more sunshine. Well done Sykes for finding this cottage owned by such lovely people.

  • "Don't hesitate to book this cottage - it's truly wonderful!"

From the personal welcome Glenda gave us, along with a super selection of cakes and tea (most welcome after a long drive!!) which were topped up mid week with scones and chocolate cake to die for, right through to the chat and hugs when we left, this cottage has everything (and more) that you could ever want. Books for the readers, board games for the rainy days, leaflets and brochures on what to do in the area, DVD's, sofas that we wanted to take home, a fully (fully!) equipped kitchen/utility room and plenty of outside space to just chill out. It was a pleasure to live there for a week and despite our pleading, we did have to leave on Saturday to let another family enjoy this wonderful haven. Glenda and Gwyn, we will be back!

  • "Glenda and Gwyn who own the cottage, are the nicest people on the planet!"

They could not have been more helpful, friendly and generous! 3 times during the week, Glenda brought her freshly baked scones filled with cream and strawberries, Welsh cakes and the most delicious chocolate cake on Earth - it was heavenly. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. A little complaint is the extremely busy road which did disturb us a bit. Glenda said this was unusual and couldn't understand why there was so much heavy traffic? The beds are soft for those with bad backs; but those two little niggles did not spoil our week away at all. There are an amazing variety of birds and rare bats in the historic furnace across the road. Please climb to the top to see the waterfall which fed the furnace. There are outstanding views everywhere and plenty to keep you busy for weeks.
