I stopped at Minydon with my Elderly mom and Dog, I must say I was very disappointed yes it's all ground level aas adviced, but there's a number of large steps in and out of the property which didn't make things easy for her we found the property dark and dated to much furniture, carpets all need replacing and could do with decorating all over, there isn't a washer dryer as in advert, views was good and cottage in good position, garden good for dog

Thanks for leaving feedback. I can confirm it is just a washing machine, no dryer. Just completed decorating for 2024 now much brighter with new carpet and dining area floor. Also replaced large black chair with nicer recliner chair and added SkyTV. Advisory that both back and front have steps and not suitable for disabled access or those with limited mobility. We have reconfigured so TV shows Sky right away and also replaced DVD player with newer model that is quieter and has more features. Our Oil boiler service in December discovered a small leak in a radiator pipe causing a pressure drop, now fixed for 2024. See you next year :) Property Owner

The welcome pack was a really nice touch and the property was overall great. The only issue is that we couldn’t use the outside table and seats as they were covered with red spiders…maybe red mite…so that was a shame as the weather was good… The location is perfect for walks around Fairbourne and of course having the beach literally across the road is a total winner… We’d defo go again….

We said goodbye to the creepy crawlies, table now power washed and treated. Fingers crossed for a sunny 2024! Property Owner

The only thing was the bed was a little bit uncomfortable but then it's what you get used to and mattresses are such a personal thing with comfort. Thank you for putting the fence up we were able to relax with dogs in the garden this time as being small dogs and terriers they could get through things before but now we could leave them off the lead. The only other thing to mention is the freezer, just make sure you shut the door properly as it can catch on the unit next to it and stops it shutting properly

Freezer now replaced with a frost free model and swapped location with Fridge for better access. Glad you enjoyed your stay :) Property Owner

  • "The location of the bungalow is its greatest asset being a minute from the sea and with a backdrop of Snowdonia."

The bungalow was clean and three of the bedrooms are light attractive rooms - the fourth's window overlooks the lean-to area and is a dark room. The kitchen is largely well equipped and overlooks the garden which is large and dog friendly with lots of seating. However, there is no bin in the kitchen - there is a dustbin in the lean-to area which reached by going down two steep steps. The mattress on the bed in the green bedroom really has reached the end of it's useful life ( I can't comment on the other beds / mattresses) and the furniture in the dining / living area is oversized and makes the space very cramped. There is a lovely view from the dining area but the lounge is dark , made worse by the very large black leather furniture. The only lighting is overhead with one uplighter which leans at a precarious angle. I found the room quite depressing in the evenings. Additional side lights would help enormously but there is no space for them. The front of the house needs some attention and tlc. The bungalow is best suited to four adults and two children and with some extra love and attention could be a perfect holiday home in a great location

Thanks for your feedback, sorted some of the issues for 2024. Two new bins in kitchen. Replaced dining table and dining area floor so easier to get around and feels much brighter. Redecorated with brighter colours and swapped out the large black chair with a recliner so feels roomier. New three spot ceiling light for more illumination and customisability. Also repainted exterior and refreshed some other areas such as the pixie cottage which now houses the beach equipment and outdoor games. Also added Sky TV and new DVD player for the evening's :) Property Owner

The bedrooms and kitchen are spacious but living areas feels cramped because of oversized furniture for the space. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and everything has been thought of. The games room and extra play equipment in the utility room and dining room is a great addition and having laundry facilities is a real bonus. It is definitely set up for families with children in mind. The beds are comfortable and plenty of clean fluffy towels provided. The bath is a great size but the shower runs slowly in comparison to our power shower at home, although the soft water is lovely for the skin. Brilliant location in a super friendly little village. Very lucky with the weather but missed the wild Wales weather we usually get.....!!!! we crammed in so much picnics in the mountains, hiking to the blue lake, bonfire on the beach, swimming in the sea several times everyday and in the mountain streams, camping in the garden, pool and darts tournaments, boat rides, crabbing, dolphin watching, plane spotting on the mach loop, chocolate making at Corris craft village and so much more. A great location for walking the dogs on the beach. The games room was fantastic, especially given the unseasonal weather we experienced. We loved the garden, but didn't get many opportunities to use it, again due to the weather. There were a few points which means I can't give a 5-star review. There was not enough kitchen equipment to cater for 6 people; there were only 5 'comfy' chairs in the living room, so not all of us could use them at the same time; and the window in the 'green' room was sealed shut & couldn't be opened. In terms of facilities in Fairbourne - can recommend the pizzas from 'Keebabalons' and the fish & chips from the chippy

But there were issues that really shouldn't be there for the price paid. "green room" had broken window catch which was never repaired we were given an old rusty fan to use instead. Said room had crisp packets and lynx can under the bed and large collections of cobwebs in corners of the rooms. Septic tank kept blocking with normal t.p. and the guy to keep clearing it. Property could do with some money invested to fix games room roof and utility roof as both leak in plus a modern TV that could connect to netflix or hdmi USB connection so people could have more choice of entertainment on wet days.

From the very start with easy directions, 2 large parking areas right outside the property and the welcome/complimentary wine and tea and coffee. The bungalow is spacious clean quiet and homely. 2 large double rooms one with adjoining single room at the front of the property and nice and sunny. 1 smaller single at the back. Towels provided although you will need larger/beach towels. Lounge with dining area overlooking the garden and hills and mountains. Comfy sofa, TV, electric fire very cosy in an evening. Bathroom with shower over bath constant hot water so no arguing over the first shower. Lovely bright spacious kitchen. Fridge and separate freezer electric cooker and hob microwave. All necessary bits and pieces (knives not very sharp) and bbq outside. Small porch area at side of house with key safe which is great when off doing different things and only one key. Back entrance has a key as well though to a small area where you can leave wet sandy gear and garden/beach games. Swingball croquet kites bowls surf boards all got well used. The garden and outside space is fab. The main garden has a secret quiet area overlooking the mountains and village. With washing line picnic bench well maintained grass area and a patio area plenty of space and sunshine. A raised area with another picnic bench at the rear of the converted garage. The garage has been turned into a games room. Darts pool (1 yellow ball missing) table tennis even a little seating area. We used this slot for our 3 generation family games tournament had a brilliant time especially grandma who managed to hit the dart board on a couple of occasions. Minydon is just across from the blue flag beach. Single track road with occasional cars (it was bank holiday) and over the grass to the footpath and beach wall. To note it is very stoney and steep to get to the sand but a small pathway and steps have been created in the top section to help. The sand is clean and water clear. Even on its busiest day so much space. And most of the time only us. Plenty of wind on the last few days allowed us to do some body boarding which was great. The village is a very short walk away with two convenience stores pub butchers fish and chips green grocers etc. Lovely coffee at the miniature railway cafe. The train takes you to the point of the estuary where you can walk back along the road or beach or catch the small ferry boats to barmouth harbour. There is a mainline train to Birmingham and north to phwelli we used this to go to barmouth cost about £3 return takes 10 minutes parking in and around the station . You can walk back from barmouth or beyond across the viaduct £1 honesty toll and then along the estuary to fairbourne golf club and the village on the Maddawch trail it's about 4.5 miles but seats and fantastic views there is a train stop at maddawch about half way. We also walked up to the blue lake to note the lake entrance is blocked off but the walk takes about 30 minutes it's very steep in places and we took the short cut up what was a small waterfall due to overnight rain but the views of the lake from above and back towards snowdon were completely worth it. Takes snacks and drinks and sit up there to enjoy the views and peace. 2 of our party (50 and 9years) went pony taking at the stables just outside the village £25 for 1 hour ride along the estuary and absolutely loved it. Not enough time but would have done the beach ride if so. Also visited nearby Tywyn great beach and icecream plenty of parking. Can go on the train as station is 2 minutes from the beach although the drive has spectacular views. Barmouth for crabbing, best fish and chips sat watching sunset on beach and to die for icecream frappe at the little stone cafe in the town near the spar. Harlech for the castle and great cafe and steepest road in the world official. Cwm nantcol near llanbedr for paddling in the river and raft racing (made our own tiny ones out of driftwood from the beach) and lazy picnic/bbq - good facilities toilets showers hot drinks and icecream very busy though (we remember this from 40+ years ago when it was a hidden treasure of the area). Llanfair caverns for tea and cake and great views of shell island etc and good caverns to explore. Corris and king Arthur's labyrinth we actually only did the craft village but it was brilliant did chocolate and candle making fab shops and lovely people. Very clean good facilities reasonably priced and the best brownies ever in the cafe. Will return to do the labyrinth next year and the nearby Tallyn railway and lake. We also went to the beach at Dyffryn Arduway/talybont which is a great beach with sand dunes and where we normally stay but missed out as booked to late but will struggle to decide now as loved Minydon and Fairbourne. Will have to have 2 holidays...Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did. See you soon Minydon. Ps issue with no hot water/heating although didn't really need it was sorted out super quick and with the minimum of fuss really impressed thank you for the great service.
