  • "We had an excellent stay."

Our booking was for 8 x adults and a dog and the property was well equipt so we fitted in the property well. Enough space in kitchen and lounge and beds were comfy with more pillows and duvets if needed in the cupboards. The gas bottles for the gas fire were empty though but didnt mind as the heating worked great. We brought a bath mat as the bath was slippery when the shower was used but again not a drama and £3.50 from the shop up the road. If we stayed again i would pack my own next time for a just in case with my own towels too. Whoever books to stay there will enjoy themselves. Scenery great, house great and area great. Absolutely loved it xxx

The cottage had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped, all the beds were comfortable and the bedlinen good quality. We had seen previous reviews which said the rooms smelt damp but we did not find that at all. There was a high standard of cleanliness and small comforts like blankets were provided. We love the area and have stayed in several Sykes cottages, we would certainly recommend this cottage.

  • "Had a really lovely long weekend at Glyn Morfa."

The location of the house was great and the views were beautiful and very relaxing. The inside was really nicely decorated and comfortable. The games room was also a fun bonus and the welcome pack was lovely too. The only thing that could be improved would be the facilities/maintenance. There were a few basics missing from the kitchen such as kitchen roll/cling film/cloths. Also only one of the bulbs was working on the light above the kitchen table. The owner was friendly and helpful and easy to communicate with, and was understanding following a breakage. Overall would recommend staying here for a relaxing getaway in Wales

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and thanks for mentioning the light bulbs, which have now been replaced. Property Owner

  • "Overall, very nice cottage."

Nice side area with the grass, although the bushes could do with a trim back so the path can be used. All the rooms were clean, the heating worked great, and the kitchen has ‘almost’ everything you need. All i would say is that one larger frying pan should be supplied as the two there are quiet small, if you’re trying to prepare a large sunday breakfast ect, and also some bin bags, there was no kitchen roll there either so we had to get our own. The little welcome pack on the dining table was a nice touch Over all i would recommend though!

  • "We did have overall a lovely stay and would return if we are not travelling with my Nan."

We loved how much space we had as a family, the kitchen was really well equipped with a massive fridge and living room was perfect for us and very comfortable. We also liked that there was a welcome package with things like milk, biscuits and tea. We specifically booked the accommodation as it had a ground floor bedroom and bathroom due to my nans limited mobility needs however she couldn’t use the shower at all as the shower door was very small (I’m a size 8-10 and felt small even for me) which really did affect our holiday and we left 2 days early as she wasn’t able to wash properly. Also, there were lots of flies in the downstairs bathroom that we couldn’t seem to get rid of. Beds with green bedspread and yellow bedspread were also quite hard. It appears that the bathroom upstairs may need some attention (possibly grout missing in tiles) as on occasions water would drip through the kitchen ceiling when someone was showering. Another point to note is that the Wi-Fi password in the book is wrong but worked out it was standard password on back of router after a little while.

Thank you for the comments and feedback. We've rectified all issues and changed the downstairs shower door to a bi-fold, which now gives extra access. Property Owner

The property was exactly like the pictures and really clean. The kitchen was well equipped, and the views were beautiful from every window. The garden was great for the dogs and the night view of Harlech Castle all lit up was special. The little poole table in the outhouse was welcomed by the children on the rainy days. A great, sociable holiday house in a really good location. The local shop in Harlech is really well stocked and the staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints.

  • "The house is a good size, and the dishwasher/washing machine were great to have."

Plenty of towels, cutlery and crockery available, and a little welcome pack waiting which was handy. The lounge is comfortable. Nice views at the rear of the property. Guests staying in the downstairs bedroom said their clothes and bedding felt damp and there is definitely a damp smell in that room. Lots of air fresheners downstairs, probably due to this. Some of the cooking trays were rusty and need replacing. Traffic travelling on the main road is very travelling very fast and there isn't a path so walking in to Harlech centre is not really safe.

Thank you for letting us know about the downstairs bedroom, we'll investigate it further. The feedback is appreciated. Property Owner

It was better than I expected- there’s a lovely big table in the garden which the photos don’t show and the views from the back garden were amazing. My children loved seeing the sheep so close. It is a lovely house if you want to getaway from busy everyday life. The location of the house is also great - 1 minute drive to the beach , the downside is there is no path to walk to it really as the house is right next to the road. The house is very welcoming with all the needed amenities. I would come again.

The house was warm, clean and comfortable, spacious and had all facilities we needed. It is a shame that there are no direct footpaths from the property, so we had to either drive or walk along the road to get anywhere, but it is good access to Harlech, and beyond to Barmouth or to Portmadog the other way. It would be good to have some hand towels, soap and bathmats for the bathrooms and some hooks for hanging coats in the entrance.

Its great to hear you had a nice time and enjoyed the house. Towels and bath mats should always be available. We'll raise it with the housekeepers. Thank you. Property Owner

don't waste your money. the living hall was very small and decorated with the old version of TV there was no sound system in it. the kitchen was not cleaned, the drawers in the kitchen were as if no one has used them in ages it smilly. there is a play room but the condition of the pool table and fuse ball table was absolutely wasted, the floor of the room was not laid down flat and apparently was not steady was shacking.

"Feedback & suggestions for the property is very important to us and we always act when things need fixing, items get broken, or if something has gone missing. • "The cottage has great potential but really does need some TLC."

While it is generally well equipped, the kitchen tap is very loose and there were no oven gloves available which is not anything I've ever had to bring before. We also had ants in the kitchen and the downstairs bedroom smells extremely strong of mould and damp to the extent that my daughter actually slept on the sofa after the first night. The rooms are not deep cleaned and the furniture in the rooms should be moved so the space behind can be cleaned. While the garden was lovely, I think listing a games room is a stretch, as this too was quite unpleasant to be in due to the damp and mouldy floor. Garden furniture and a random pushchair were stored in there making the space difficult to use. The cottage was lovely and warm but we were unable to control the temperature as the thermostat had no signal and the nightime temperatures were quite uncomfortably hot. The upstairs rooms were all very quaint and pleasant and every room has fantastic views. The lounge is a great communal room with lots of space. I would only stay here again if the issues listed above were dealt with first.

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We've addressed all matters you've raised. Property Owner

This is a pleasant cottage. Not spectacular. Nice location with the beach and castle nearby but very few cafes, bars or restaurants open. It is a gas NOT a real fire, make sure you read the description thoroughly, we nearly missed the note. The cottage does offer a high chair despite one not being listed and Sykes insisting that there wasn't one.

We had a great week away with some very beautiful destinations only a short drive away. We had our German Shepherd with us and were very happy that the garden was secure (slightly low fence on one side of the property) which allowed us to give him freedom to run around in the great sized garden. There is a large tesco about a 15 minute drive away in Porthmadog and also an amazing fish and chip shop (The Creel). There are some lovely walks (dog friendly but your dog will need to stay on lead due to passing through farms). And there is also a great estuary beach walk only a few hundred metres from Llandecwyn train station). A highlight of ours was also visiting Portmeirion, which had some truly beautiful sights and walks!

We walked to the beach and in to Harlech through the fields behind the house. The house is old a little damp and could do with a really good clean and some air! Just to warn you the fridge is tiny (only big enough to store a few days food for 8 people) and we struggled to dry clothes as we couldn’t get the heating to link to the wifi and there wasn’t a tumble dryer! We explored north wales so the location was great for that !

  • "We had a fabulous relaxing stay at Glyn Morfa."

It was a beautiful large cottage and our party of 6 adults 1 (1 yr old) and a dog had plenty of room. On arrival the cottage was fresh, clean and felt very welcoming. We were very grateful for the wine, welsh cakes and a pint of milk in the fridge. The cottage had great quality furnishings, it was large but extremely cosy and comfortable. All adults agreed that the beds were ultra comfortable, we all slept really well. The bed linen and towels were top quality. All rooms were spacious. We loved the large dining areas inside and out, where we could all sit together and enjoy an evening meal. We had everything we needed. It was great to have a full bathroom suite upstairs and very helpful to have a shower and toilet downstairs. The outside space was excellent with lots of places to sit and enjoy the views or the scents of the various plants. It was so peaceful to sit out in a morning with a hot drink, just listening to birds and gazing across the fields to woodlands and mountains. In the evenings we enjoyed going out of the back door and star gazing because the area is so dark the sky was awesome to see. We also walked round into the front garden area where we watched bats darting everywhere just around the street lights. Another feature enjoyed was the games room. We were also pleased to have the travel cot and high chair. We would definitely book this cottage again for a family get together. We thank the owners for providing such a beautiful cottage to rent.

  • "Glyn Morfa as a holiday cottage was everything we were expecting, the only downside was the advertised log burner has been swapped for a gas fire and we love a good log fire ."

.. but that seriously is not a complaint point! Location was spot on, the garden looks right down toward Harlech castle and you can hear the waves on the beach at night. Proximity to Porthmadoc was a 15 minute drive to access the supermarkets and butchers (seriously one of the best butchers I've ever used). One suggestion I would make is the potential to install a mirror on the opposite side of the road for when you're leaving the driveway, visibility is very hard around the wall of the adjacent house and you're pulling directly on to a national limit road.
