Lovely and cosy and a perfect getaway. Despite the Welsh weather we spent more time outdoors than in! The view from the hot tub - beautiful Welsh countryside in the day and an astonishing view of the stars at night - is a particular highlight for us, coming from living in the city. The bits and bobs left in the cottage by Geoff were a lovely touch also. Thank you so much and we’ll definitely be back!

  • "The welcome was very warm and friendly."

We stayed here two years ago and it is now apparent that wear and tear has not been fully addressed. The bathroom extraction fan was dirty. Since it takes 15 minutes to clean there is no excuse. The jacuzzi cover is tatty, a new one would make a world of difference. The sauna door was warped and did not close. I would still recommend the place and we really enjoyed it.

  • "The terraced decking outside is an inventive use of space and turns this cosy renovation into something truly memorable."

Even in mid winter we made full use of the hot tub and sauna and thoroughly enjoyed trying our hand at baking homemade pizzas in the wood fired oven. We had to tear ourselves away to enjoy the beautiful rolling hills and pleasant walks right on the doorstep. Ample outdoor storage space for muddy boots and wet coats, utility room with all amenities (washing machine, tumble dryer, additional fridge and freezer space) and thoughtful outdoor lighting means that it is perfectly possible to keep the little open plan cottage warm and clean even in the harshest of Welsh winter weather. Contrary to other reviews, I found the kitchenette well stocked with quality utensils and the microwave functions as an oven too. I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

Could do with a small coffee table as there was nowhere to place your drinks whilst sitting on the settee and maybe swing the settee around so that your facing the TV rather than on the side, however it is a great place for short break. Owner was very helpful too.

  • "The old cobblers was beautiful and in a great setting."

Driving up to the cottage was great and seeing it had us excited for or stay. On entering it was what we expected cosy and modern with small rustic touches. Outside areas were amazing and clean. Hot tub was great and the sauna was amazing after working out how it works. Few small negative points, no welcome book to say how things work e.g sauna, microwave oven, induction hob. No sauspans for cooking food, Also found popcorn in the side dresser, floor was dirty. The biggest issue and there is not much you can do about the weather but it was so hot in the accommodation because of the heatwave there was no way to cool the place down because if you opened the windows and doors you would have a room full of flies.also no shelter from the sun outside if you wanted a shaded area. Bed was comfortable shower room great. Sofa cosy and in the evening plenty of areas to sit outside but the lighting did not let you play cards or read outside.overall we would book again but knowing what we needed we would take them along. Winter time would be lovely with the firepit and log burner.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Cobblers shop but there were a few areas that we feel could be improved."

One issue we had was that there seemed to be a bit of a fly problem, there were lots of flies in the accommodation that we could not get rid of and it was not very nice having to eat in there with flies flying around. We did have to go out and buy some fly spray from a supermarket but even with this there was still lots of flies. When we arrived the dishcloth was wet and had clearly been used and left in the sink. I would have preferred no dishcloth as opposed to a dirty one. There was rubbish in bins which had also not been emptied around the accommodation and the outside area which suggests it hadn’t been cleaned properly. There also seemed to be no wifi in the accommodation despite it being advertised to have wifi, this wasn’t a massive problem but when wanting to watch a film at night we couldn’t use Netflix or the internet to find a film. A slight recommendation would be for there to be a welcome book with information about how to use the facilities and any important information in. For example, people may not use a pizza oven, hot tub or sauna regularly so it would be good to have some top tips or information about how to use them. The bins are also different in local councils so we were unsure what to do regarding recycling and general waste. It may also be worth mentioning when booking the local shop opening hours, it closes at 3pm on a Saturday so if checking in on a Saturday it will already be closed when you arrive so at least if made aware prior to arrive we could have planned to stop at a shop further away. Like I said we really enjoyed our stay and these were only minor problems which hopefully will be addressed in the future and despite these we would definitely recommend the accommodation.

Great views from the hot tub in the evening. Ran into the owner a few times who provided us with kindling and logs for the fire pit and pizza oven. Not much to do in the area apart from the local pub (The lion hotel) but they're really friendly and nice food. The lodge itself was small but nice and what was expected and was left a nice little hamper of eggs cider and wine which was much appreciated. Would definitely go again thank you.

The bed was really comfy. We spent our 2 full days there relaxing. Couldn't log onto WiFi but it wasn't a problem. Didn't use sauna as it was so hot but the hot tub was well used. We ate outside on the patio. The views are lovely and you're not overlooked by nearby house's, it's totally private. Would have liked to use the fire pit but there was no supplies. We had a little welcome pack of eggs, Welsh cakes, wine and cider which was much appreciated. Would highly recommend.

Perfect for a quiet get away. Inside small and compact with all basic kitchen requirements, lovely fire and big TV. Bed very comfy, pillows could be better though. I would have liked there to be a hair dryer and extra towels for the hot tub. Tumble dryer outside though and extra small fridge very helpful. Gardens lovely. Very private, beautiful views. Fantastic to have a hot tub and sauna. Remember to take some slippers to walk to them though. Tried using the pizza oven but unfortunately couldn't get it going with wood. Apparently needs coals. Really enjoyed our stay. Owners very helpful and quick responses. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Great facilities - fully functioning jacuzzi and sauna, underfloor heating, instant hot water, comfortable bed, coziness, all essentials in the kitchen corner plus great facilities to both sit and dine outside. I would highly recommend the Cobbler’s shop, surrounded by stunning views, privacy respected and friendly neighbours in the village. It would be beneficial to have instructions regarding departure to assist with littler disposal and also instructions how to operate heating system on arrival. Once again many thanks, we surely will aim to return in near future.

It's been built to a really high standard, and is very cosy! We found the bed to be comfortable, but extremely limited on storage for bags. The sofa or a random corner as used and took up a lot of the cosy space. The shower was fantastic, always hot and quite powerful!! We enjoyed the welcome basket, which has eggs, cider, wine and Welsh cakes. This was a great treat! Having stayed at a few similar places, we would've liked an instruction manual/welcome pack just so we had an idea of how to work the hot tub, sauna, and heating system within the property. Also adding in what's nearby etc (we know there were leaflets, but more or a better range for longer stays would be good :) and gives the customer a better idea of the area, maybe a map? The owner Geoff was very welcoming and did offer some advice on where to go. There was a slight issue with the hot tub, but was sorted within the day.

You could see country views, and star gaze in the hot tub. It is a little in the middle of nowhere but I think both me and my partner really needed that escape. The only negative, is that there weren’t many facilities in the kitchen that we could work with (but can be done). There’s also not many resturants around so if you don’t mind cooking then this is the place for you. We would definitely be back in a heartbeat and would come back next week if we could.
