  • "We had a lovely week at Rhos Wen despite Storm Agnes blowing in mid-week!"

It didn’t stop us getting out and about and we enjoyed the beautiful beaches, gardens and our first visit to Harlech and Barmouth. The property was very well equipped, warm, clean and comfortable and a pleasure to return to after our expeditions. We even visited the nearby slate caverns which is a self-guided tour and proved rather interesting. When we got back to the cottage on the Friday the gardener was there tidying up what is a very pleasant, well kept garden plus, it’s secure for dogs. If only we’d had suitable weather we would have used the great choice of garden furniture. Just one thing (and this is an observation rather than a criticism) it would have been helpful to know before our arrival that dogs weren’t allowed on furniture or upstairs and I think this should be made clear in Important Information. We assumed that a dog friendly property would allow us to use the variety of throws we always bring with us to protect furniture. It made for a little more work for us throughout the week but certainly didn’t spoil our holiday.

The property was very clean, very comfortable and we had everything we needed for a lovely holiday. The area is idillic and despite some nasty weather we enjoyed ourselves very much. We did get a day on the beach which was very relaxing with a great cafe and toilets. We walked to the beach and back a couple of times which was very pleasant. Bel, the owner, was on hand if needed via text. Also we had a lovely welcome pack upon our arrival. The housekeeper brought clean bedding and towels after our first week and she was very pleasant as was the gardener. The whole property is looked after so well. We really hope to return one day soon. Oh, and the views from the property are amazing too.

You provided all the home comforts we needed. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well-equipped for four adults and two children. The garden is flawless, with interesting and beautiful flowers & shrubs surrounding the property. Beds were wonderfully comfortable and the bathroom is lush!! The log store was really generous too, we had a couple of fires in the evenings. The accommodation is dog friendly, which makes a huge difference being able to bring the furry family members along. So thank you :) We all agreed the weather was perfect, we were very lucky. But even if we had a rainy day, the board games and comfy lounge would have suited us fine. As it was, we explored the local bridal-ways and made it to local beaches - WOW! Hidden gem beaches where we wiled away the days body boarding, jelly-fish finding and sunbathing. At times, we had an entire beach to ourselves! (And they are dog friendly - so total bonus!) You can pop to Harlech, which has the gorgeous castle and lovely local shops. The deli is a must visit location! Barmouth is down the road in one direction, whilst Porthmadog and Black Rock Sands in the other. We were also well situated to visit the Zip World Experience, where the kids (and grown up kids) had a blast zip-lining down a mountain!! Communication was brilliant, Bel and James were only a text away if needed and seemed genuinely lovely people, happy to help. Cannot recommend this lovely home from home enough - we will definitely return to this wonderful cottage.

We were blessed with good weather for most of the time so able to enjoy long walks on the local beaches with the dogs ( Harlech beach is stunning) and then return to let them dry off in the garden. Communication with the owners was brilliant when they let us know of a couple of issues out of their control. Thank you Bel and James for use of your home and for the welcome pack; much appreciated. It felt like home and was a great base for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales. The beds were very comfortable and the whole cottage was clean. There was a lot of space for the family to relax and enjoy the spectacular views over Shell Island and the Lleyn Peninsular. The garden is small, but lovely and is fully enclosed for dogs (although there is a low gate which some dogs might be able to jump over). The smart TV and Wii were loved by all the guests, cuddling up on the sofas in front of the wood burning stove. We also loved the many games, books, jigsaws, toys and DVDs which were available. The kitchen was well stocked and has a large fridge and freezer, as well as a washing machine and coffee machine. They only negatives were that we had trouble fitting the plates and bowls in the dish washer and found that the oven trays were a bit greasy - not great for us vegetarians as they smelt of meat! Also, we were a bit disappointed that the telescope was not in the cottage, despite it being in the photographs. But, despite these few niggles, we had a super holiday at Rhos Wen and will definitely be booking again!

The beaches were a short drive away and my niece loved going rock pooling on the nearest one to the property. Easy access to Harlech only a 30 minute walk or a short drive away. We had a 3 night stay and this was not enough time to explore all the areas, but we cramped as much as we could in visiting Bamforth, and local places to eat, we would happily stay here again. The property

Rhos Wen is a lovely family holiday house.

Recently refurbished and redecorated from top to bottom, the owners have created a wonderful, light, airy and comfortable home from home.

On a quiet cul-de-sac in Llanfair, it's less than a five minute drive into the pretty village of Harlech with its' independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and of course the mighty Harlech castle! The contemporary kitchen has all the mod cons and equipment you will need including an electric hob, oven and extractor fan, microwave, fridge / freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine.

You won't mind washing up with the fantastic sea view out of the kitchen window.

The small utility room has a washing machine.

The comfortable sitting room has a wood burning stove, squishy sofas and flatscreen TV and DVD player.

The French doors leading through to the dining room means that you can open up the room if you prefer a more open space.

Sliding patio doors from the dining room leads out to the lawned garden with landscaped beds.

There are three bedrooms.

On the ground floor there is a double bedroom.

Next door there is a bathroom with a loo, wash hand basin and double shower.

There are two further bedrooms upstairs.

One has a king sized bed and ensuite cloakroom with loo and basin, and the other has twin single beds.

Outside there is a small lawned garden to the front and and enclosed lawned garden at the back with lovely sea views across the rooftops.

There is private parking for three cars at the front of the house on the drive.

The heating is by electric heaters.

There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room.

The initial basket of logs is provided.

Rhos Wen is less than a ten minute walk to a Blue Flag beach with miles and miles of golden sands backed by the glorious dunes.

A five minute drive in the opposite direction takes you to the stunning village of Llanbedr - a picture postcard village - and Shell Island.

A little further on is the pretty town of Barmouth where you can enjoy a more traditional seaside day out, riding on the donkeys and eating candyfloss.

You'll be hard pushed to fit in all of that the region has to offer...so you might need to come back again!
