“Not "boutique", but clean, bright, spacious, warm, private patio, good views, lovely area, nice owners, at a great price!”
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Y Ffos. It is set opposite the barns and owners pink famhouse - very pretty with Christmas lights. Natalie and Will were very pleasant, and we were particularly impressed by Natalie`s concern that the cottage met Ian's needs as he has mobility difficulties. As the cottage is all on one level, it tends to attract people like us, and she was keen to ask if there were any improvements we could suggest, which was much appreciated. Natalie, wants to ensure the property remains homely, but ensures as much accessibilty as possible. For people who do have mobility problems, it is worth noting that the shower has one small step over, but did fit the portable chair we had brought with us - the cottage has a stool. The three piece was a little low for us, but solved by sitting on cushions and there is a "carver" chair. The furniture on the patio is solid and accessible, but there is one step down to the larger area - I know Natalie and Will have hired a ramp in the past. The property has large french and other windows with views. Builth Wells is a nice little town, and hosts the Welsh agricultural show in summer. There's a nice cafe with a courtyard on the main street - recommend the all day breakfast! Other attractions are nearby - the bookshops of Hay on Wye, Hereford Cathedral, Ludlow, pretty villages, the lovely rolling countryside of the Wye valley, Offa's Dyke and the Brecon Beacons for walkers. Bird watchers will love the garden birds and the red kite feeding centre. Hay has a great tapas bar. There is a pub in the village which we didn't try but serves food, and a cafe at the owners campsite down the road - also a lake and walks. We have already booked to return in June!
