  • "Our second visit, this is a lovely warm house, we were very grateful for the early check in."

We found we had everything we needed, plenty of space for our age group 24 to 92. Owner Elaine went to great lengths to help with smart TV issue. I'm sure we will be back.

Thank you for comments and phoning for an early check in, we like to oblige if possible. So pleased you enjoyed your 2nd holiday stay. Glad I could help with the WiFi, the smart tv had been used for other guests tech gagets. Look forward to meeting you again. Merry Christmas Elaine & Donna Property Owner

  • "The cottage is located in a very beautiful area and the views from it, over the bay are fantastic, especially in the evening."

We enjoyed exploring the town of Barmouth and the many local attractions. Unfortunately, we found (upon arrival) a lot of cobwebs in the house. The downstairs flooring - black tiles- were dirty, especially around the edges in the kitchen. This was particularly disappointing considering these issues had already been raised by previous occupants and have not been acted upon. (see past reviews) You will need to allow plenty of time if you are cooking in the Aga and be aware that the hot plates take a long time to warm up. The beds would benefit from some new pillows for comfort. We were left feeling rather disappointed by this accommodation, especially given the amount paid.

Thank you for your comments, the property is managed, contact details are on the notice board. Potential issues can be raised and efforts to resolve will be made. Cobwebs are an issue we try to remove them. The oil Aga was exchanged for an eco friendly electric Aga. Instructions are on the notice board, a leaflet and cookbook are provided. The microwave, has steam and crisp settings. New hotel grade pillows were added this year. Prices are set dependant on time of year and location. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property & gardens."

Relatively comfy although the single beds are less so. The views are magnificent and that’s the biggest draw to the property. Being on the hill, it does provide a challenge if walking back from anywhere. The aga ovens take a long time to heat up & don’t cook very well so allow twice the time to cook anything. We found the place with quite a lot of cobwebs and some areas were dusty. It didn’t put us off but it could have cleaner. The owner & managers were lovely & helpful & we would consider coming back in the future.

Thank you for your comments. The electric Aga ovens like traditional Aga do stay on all the time. The electric Aga temperature can be adjusted, as per the instruction book. One advantage of the electric Aga is that the oven temperature can be turned down in very hot weather, but that does increase cooking times. The cleaning team do try to keep cobwebs to a minimum as well as any dust that could have blown in. So pleased you enjoyed your stay and the location, being on the hillside there are amazing views over the bay. Property Owner

  • "Thanks for a lovely week in your fantastic cottage."

The view from the cottage is outstanding, so good that I stayed in the cottage many days enjoying the view and peace and quiet while the rest of my family went out and about! The Aga was great fun, none of us had ever never used one before but by the end of the week we were all quite taken with it. The sun room with the huge table was brilliant and we all spent a lot of time in there. We appreciated having two living rooms as the kids could watch their dreadful TV or play on consoles in one we could have a quiet read in the other one. We will definitely be coming back next year for more of the same.

Thank you for your feedback. So pleased, you enjoyed your holiday. Aga's are a pleasure to use, and produce great food. Property Owner

  • "Thank you for such a wonderful stay at Ceilwart cottage!"

We really have fell in love with the beauty of this place! The area surrounding this cottage really makes it something special, we really enjoyed going for a stroll in the evening there is an incline (stated within the booking details) which is expected when staying in such an elevated position but we think this really adds to the beauty of it all. When taking the time to look around the cottage I came across the “aga bible” this really explains the basics of cooking within the aga which we found very simple to use and produced some wonderful meals within the cottage. We really have no complaints or pointers for this place as it already is 5 stars in our eyes. Thank you again for making our stay so comfortable we will be back soon enough x

  • "Unfortunately I do think your cleaning team are letting you down and it somewhat takes the shine away from the place."

The kitchen and dining area, where we spent most of our time, have not been cleaned properly, I have summarised below. Dirty floor, the black tiles may disguise the fact but we had to wipe something that was spilled and the cloth was black. Dirty dishes and cupboards, we loaded a lot through the dishwasher and wiped out some drawers and shelves. The ranch slider window frame in the dining area is dirty where the handles are. The windows have many finger prints and other marks. I saw the note re windows being done monthly, they must be due and day now, but the insides should be cleaned for guests and actually I think that window and the side window, as your main features should be maintained for each paying guest. Cigarette butts left upstairs outside in a jar with dirty water. The floor around the dishwasher and the dishwasher and washing machine wasn’t clean. The dishwasher although clean inside needed tp have the door framework cleaned. We had to wipe down the table and the chairs on arrival. The shower curtains upstairs, I think were washed but very stained. Spiders everywhere The washing machine detergent dispenser and front needed to be cleaned and the cupboard beside it as well. We shouldn’t have been the one’s cleaning that. The rug in the downstairs lounge is not clean. The other couple of things are also the fact that we are opening and closing gates to get here, that is fine but the lower gate is completely rusty and falling apart. My daughter cut her ankles quite badly on the lower rung that is hanging off. Having guests open and close a gate in this state of repair is really unacceptable. There were no cleaning products for us to even get started with. As I said, these things take the shine off a beautiful cottage and location.

In response to your comments. I note you read the notice board which includes numbers for the management cleaning company, myself and Sykes. If you felt there was an issue you had every opportunity to have your issues resolved, even when we chatted nothing was mentioned. Over winter the professional maintenance cleaning company deep clean the property, including carpets and rugs. A standard change over is not a deep clean. Monthly the window cleaner uses high pressure water cleaning from his van. It has been dry of late. The property is non smoking and visitors who smoke are expected to dispose of cigarettes responsibility. I have reviewed the farm gate, it is too heavy for a child to open. The bottom rail has been secured with fencing wire and isn't loose and the gate can be opened safely by an adult. The notice board advised how to dispose of food and recycle waste, it took over an hour to sort and remove from the property. Spiders, we do try to remove but they are inevitable part of the countryside. It is a self catering property and cleaning products are not provided as they can pose a hazard, COSHH guidelines. Every effort is made to ensure guests have an enjoyable holiday in a very beautiful location. Property Owner

On arrival we could not find any cutlery and very few plates until we opened the dishwasher It was full and had been left like that for some time So did not smell very nice

Thank you for your review. This property is managed and on a Monday changeover cleaned, therefore any dishes could not have been left for some time. The departing guests had left the dishwashwasher running it was an oversight that the cleaning team did not return before your arrival. You were however contacted by Donna the manager and she was advised all was OK. There are contact details on the notice board, so the issue could have been quickly resolved, a low mark for cleaning the whole property on one issue is not justified. Every effort is made to ensure the property is accurately listed, you made no comment, therefore any issue you may consider as not accurate cannot be reviewed. We do try to ensure guests have an enjoyable and comfortable holiday. Elaine Owner Donna Manager Property Owner

Beautiful view from every window , big place for families to have there own space , I was sorry to leave , love to stay again in future , only one negative please can you buy new pillow for main bedroom as when taking the cover of , some previous guest as had nose bleed on it , thank you for letting me and my mother stay was heartbroken to come back early family emergency .

Thank you for your feedback, yes, the views are something special, no matter what the weather brings, the sea and sky can be dramatic. I must apologise over the pillow protector, that was an oversight on my part. The bedding goes to the laundry, but the protectors go through my steam wash. Any issues would have been rectified had we been made aware. Donna did try to contact you to check all was OK. So sad you had to leave early and hope the emergency has been resolved. A variety of outside seating areas, with great views, and tables and chairs. Yes it is up a fairly steep approach, but this is in the description of the property. Plenty of space inside and out for 6 people. We definitely want to return.

  • "We all really enjoyed our holiday in Ceilwart Cottage."

Absolutely wonderful views including some superb sunsets! Must admit we did find the Aga rather challenging to use - might be useful to have something that heated up quicker for a holiday cottage! We realise that beautiful views imply height but think something a bit more might have been mentioned about awkward access and that better signage from the road to the cottage would have been helpful.

Thank you for your comments. The electric Aga, is a liitle different in that the two ovens stay on all the time with an adjustable thermostat, unlike other fuel Agas the two hotplates are not on all the time, they can be used independently and do need time to reach temperature. However, the microwave has a steam facility and other options. One of the sign board was overgrown at one point, and yes the drive from the field is steep but there is alternative parking and path through the garden. So glad you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed the spectacular views. Property Owner

Thank you for your comments, I will ask Skyes to review. The description does say the property is in an elevated position. There is a less steep footpath to the lower garden and drive with a few of steps. Property Owner

  • "Blackout blinds in ground floor bed room would prevent waking up with the dawn."

Lovely property with amazing views. People of a certain age should be warned of the steepness of the top of the drive, and that a small car is an asset as the space for parking and turning is limited. Signage to the cottage could be improved.

Thank you for your comments, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. The last section of the drive to the cottage is steep, there have been food delivery vans to the top and the parking can accommodate two cars. I have asked the gardener to clear the roadside sign which recently has got a little overgrown. The downstairs bedroom was refurbished this year but I will review the lined curtains. Property Owner

  • "Difficult access across a field ( two gates to open )to the property which is sited on a steep incline."

Beautiful views and comfortable property. Kitchen needs updating. Washing machine but no drier.

Thank you for your comments. I am pleased you found the cottage comfortable and the views exceptional. The access is a private tarred road, with two gates which can be the norm in rural farming areas. The property and country kitchen have recently been refurbished with new kitchen appliances, as detailed in the description. There is ample outdoor hanging space and an indoor airer, a dryer would detract from the cottages eco carbon footprint. Property Owner
