Mr Boxall “Lovely location.”
Very quiet. Hosts were very accommodating
Very quiet. Hosts were very accommodating
- Mr Boxall, September 2020 -
Mr Lloyd “The little cottage was fine if a bit small - especially the kitchen.”
Lovely lovely garden. Delightful people. Our complaint is with Sykes and its acknowledgement of the effects of Covid 19. At the time of our final payment, we did not know if we would be able to cross the Welsh border so we withdrew our permission for you to take the final payment - in writing. This was ignored. As it happend , it was OK but this was incertain for some time. A conversation with us would have been businesslike.
- Mr Lloyd, August 2020Mr Reilly “It's what you'd expect from a small cottage of its age.”
We were very happy here for a week.
- Mr Reilly, August 2020Mr Peters “A lovely cottage in a wonderful location which enabled us to travel and walk in some the best parts of Snowdonia.”
The owners who live next door were friendly and generous with their time if we needed advice and presented us with a delicious cake on our arrival. The local pub within a short walk from the cottage provided welcome sustenance after a day's exertions in the hills of Snowdonia.

We had a great few days, only problem was the weather as it rained quite a lot, but we went with waterproofs and umberellas. We hope to go back, and hopefully the sun will shine next time.

Snuggly and warm, with everything you need.

- Mr Wallace, August 2019Mr Littleton “We had a fantastic holiday, the cottage was brilliant, had everything we needed and was a relaxing place to spend the evenings.”
We were lucky with the weather and were able to sit out in the garden in the evening chilling out! The owners couldn't have been more helpful, were a mine of information about the local area and which pubs to eat out at etc. Highly recommended.

- Mr Ardin, October 2018Ms Cox “The cottage had everything we needed and more.”
The owner was so welcoming and gave us useful information about local walks etc and a delicious chocolate cake. The village itself is a short walk away, with a shop and pubs - would particularly like to recommend the Victoria Inn. There is a train station and bus stop within walking distance of the cottage too so we didn't need to use the car very often. Hope to return.
- Ms Cox, September 2018Mrs Brooks “The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need.”
It was a pleasure to return at the end of a busy day and sit in the garden. Chris and Paddy, the owners, live next door and are very welcoming and helpful about the local area. They were so welcoming and ensured that we had all the information we needed as well as creature comforts. Such useful advice for beautiful local walks in the area. We really could not have been happier. Thank you Christine and Paddy.

- Mrs Barbosa, March 2017Dr Goddard “Sykes made the booking process simple and easy to follow, totally stress free.”
The cottage itself was beautiful, in lovely surroundings and with country walks from the door. It was the perfect size for a couple. The owners (next door) were friendly and welcoming, and were on hand to answer any queries that arose. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they certainly made us feel welcome and looked after (thank you!). The location was ideal for getting to the coast, as well as into the heart of Snowdonia. It was a great location to use as a base for exploring the immediate area, as well as Snowdonia, and Anglesey too! If we return to the area, then we will stay again.
- Dr Goddard, March 2017pazzini s “Lovely cottage and incredible hosts!”
Had an amazing stay here, the cottage is extremely cozy and homely. Locals are super friendly and the scenery is breathtaking. But what really made our visit were the owners of the property, Chris and Paddy, they were so welcoming and bubbly and went above and beyond to make us feel at home! Thanks a million for having us, we really can't wait to come back!!

The cottage itself is perfect for a couple, it has everything needed for a relaxing holiday for two. The hosts are non invasive but available if you need them; they really want you to have a good holiday and add a bespoke touch which we found made our holiday extra special. The local village is a 5 minute walk and the pubs are welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks holiday and would highly recommend Bryn Hyfryd Bach as the perfect romantic holiday home in a great location.

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped, we enjoyed the wood burner. Its in a very peaceful setting with lovely views.
- Mrs Locke, March 2015Mr Williams “Excellent location, lovely accommodation and super hosts.”
- Mr Williams, February 2015Chris F “Cracking weekend break”
A brilliant getaway on the North Wales coast. Bryn Hyfryd Bach is on a picturesque, secluded hillside giving you privacy and quiet but there is a shop and garage a short drive away so you don't feel cut off. The butcher at the local SPAR shop is fantastic and you can get most things from there. Visitors should note that there is parking for one car at the cottage and elder/disabled visitors may struggle with the walk back up the hill from the easiest place to leave a second car. The cottage is well appointed and the living room surprisingly roomy (bigger than it looks in the pictures). Wifi is included in the price. The kitchen has a cooker, microwave, toaster and a lot of pots, utensils and crockery for two people. I can be a little tight with two people in there but we managed one cooking while one washed up fairly easily and without arguments! The bedroom has a gorgeous stone feature wall, a very comfortable bed and plenty storage space. Hot water bottles were provided and used on one night, as it can get a little cold up there. The living room has a wood burner to keep warm and with a little 'door management', you can easily warm the whole cottage from it. We didn't need to use the electric heater provided once and it was very cold and windy while we were there. The toilet/shower room has a very modern shower fitted which was always hot and the room has plenty of space to move around in. The owners live in an attached property and were very helpful. I think every review on here mentions Chris and Paddy and they did not disappoint. A truly lovely couple. Use of the hot tub is by appointment as it is at the bottom of their garden and they really go out of the way to make it comfortable for you. They have a little 'games barn' with a wood burner to keep warm while you change and in winter months there is a gazebo over the tub to keep the Welsh weather out. All in all, this was a great break from the rat race and I would happily book again.
- Chris F, December 2014Mr Wright “The hosts were excellent, extremely helpful and thoughtful.”
The use of their hot tub was a great added bonus and made for a great time.
- Mr Wright, December 2014Ms Wales “Excellent choice all round.”
Great attention to detail, the perfect getaway.
- Ms Wales, November 2014Miss Adegbite “The scenery was awesome and the owners were really kind.”
All together, a perfect holiday.
- Miss Adegbite, November 2014Mr Todd “We had a fabulous week here enhanced by the glorious weather - but the cottage would be lovely whatever the prevailing weather.”
The owners greeted us like old friends and were helpful yet discreet. They gave us a few pointers to local sights and walks etc and some hints about shopping which did save time and effort. The cottage is small but very charming and we didn't feel we needed anything bigger so it was perfect for us. The furnishing was exquisite and the the kitchen and bathroom just right. A lovely little garden with the option of the hot tub too made the stay very special for us. We wouldn't hesitate to return and probably will!
- Mr Todd, August 2014Mrs Shair “Our landlords were very welcoming and we had a wonderful time.”
- Mrs Shair, August 2014Mrs Farquhar “The cottage was everything we expected, very quirky and quaint.”
- Mrs Farquhar, August 2014Miss Hudson “Everything was perfect, the owners are so helpful and we will definately be returning!”
- Miss Hudson, August 2014Mrs Sawtell “This was a delightful cottage in a wonderful location.”
It was very quiet with lovely walks and stunning scenery on the doorstep, and yet not isolated as it was within a few minutes walk of the main village and pubs, even if the lane was a bit steep! It was also ideally placed to travel to and explore the surrounding area with an extremely welcoming host couple.
- Mrs Sawtell, May 2014Mr Taylor “The cottage was lovely, location was fantastic, really peaceful and beautiful.”
Didn't need to get in the car to go for a walk, could just go out the front door in any direction and just keep on going for miles without bumping into a soul! The owners next door were really friendly, kind and helpful in an unobtrusive way.
- Mr Taylor, August 2013Miss Rudd “Enjoyed the friendly welcome from the owners.”
The cottage was snug and just right for 2 people. Hardly any passing cars only noise was the birds in the garden which was a pleasure to sit and watch.
- Miss Rudd, June 2013Mr Lawie “The property was lovely and very well presented.”
We particularly enjoyed having use of a small garden and BBQ - the weather was lovely so we were able to make full use.
- Mr Lawie, June 2013Mr Woodroof “The cottage has a wondereful home from home feel.”
It is cosy and comfortable and perfectly placed to explore the outstanding scenery and local attractions. All this and within walking distance of two fantastic pubs! Thanks to the owners for the wonderful welcome and help throughout our stay.
- Mr Woodroof, September 2012Dr Arrowsmith “This was a great little cottage in a quiet secluded location, yet close to restaurants, pubs and other amenities.”
The owners were most friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to get away for a break.
- Dr Arrowsmith, September 2012A FlipKey verified reviewer “Peace and quiet!”
Small, but all you need for a couple! Lovely little garden. Owners couldn't do enough. Everything supplied - tea, coffee, hot chocolate, scones, butter, jam and cream. Was lovely to come back and make up the fire and settle down after a long day!
- A FlipKey verified reviewer, December 2011A FlipKey verified reviewer “Lovely cottage in an idyllic setting”
The cottage was clean & well equipped, The owners lived next door and gave us a warm welcome. They were very helpful. There is so much to do nearby that we struggled to fit it all in - castles, beaches, holiday towns, walks, quaint villages ... The only thing we didn't like was driving up the very narrow, winding lane to the cottage as we worried about meeting someone coming the other way - although we never did.
- A FlipKey verified reviewer, December 2011Mrs Fieldhouse “We had a lovely short break in this quaint little cottage.”
The weather was good and we did lots of walking around the area. The cottage had everything provided for us, even down to shoe polish! The hosts were welcoming and all in all, we had a relaxing and regenerating time!

- A FlipKey verified reviewer, September 2011Mike N “Cosy, friendly, peaceful cottage”
We had a lovely peaceful week in an area we know well. Chris and Paddy were extremely welcoming without being intrusive. One evening they cooked and served an excellent meal in their own conservatory next door for us and our friends who live nearby. The cottage is small, and the lounge can seem a bit dark because of the location on the side of a wooded hill, but it is more than adequate for a couple. It is very well-equipped (even down to tooth-picks on the table!) and there were many homely touches such as scones and wine to welcome us on arrival and tea, coffee, cooking oil and even some herbs and spices in the kitchen. The bed was the most comfortable we have found in a rental cottage.
- Mike N, August 2011Mr Nash “House extremely well-prepared with detail touches, such as scones and wine to welcome us and some basic kitchen requirements provided.”
Owners were welcoming and they were always on hand to help. Their offer of a special meal cooked by them and served in their house next-door for us and our friends was much appreciated and of an excellent standard.
- Mr Nash, August 2011Miss Urzaiz “We had a great time in North Wales.”
Bryn Hyfryd Bach Cottage was beautiful and made our stay very pleasant. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommended!

- Mrs Wright, June 2011Mrs Holland “A fantastic property, small touches such as wine and chocolate on arrival give a welcoming feel.”
Lovely garden and everything you could need was available in the cottage.
- Mrs Holland, May 2011annalouise89 “cosy country cottage”
We had a truely fantastic holiday, the cottage was gorgeous - small but cute and had everything we could possibly have needed; exactly what we were looking for. It did get a bit chilly later at night, but blankets are provided in the living room and an electric heater in the bedroom so it was fine - just remember to pack your slippers! The owners are lovely, they couldnt be more friendly and helpful and were very hospitable. The location is picturesque - beautiful countryside and clean sandy beaches perfect for walks and exploration. The village is very close and an easy walk, there are a few small convenience shops that will sell you what you need and also a couple of nice pubs that serve lovely food. We would love to go back one day.
- annalouise89, April 2011A FlipKey verified reviewer “excellent cottage and people”

- A FlipKey verified reviewer, September 2010A FlipKey verified reviewer “Great Place to Relax”
I know this area from holidaying when I was a child and it is unchanged over the last 30 years. The cottage is really quaint but very well equipped and it forms a fantastic base for an activity holiday. Cycle route 8 runs past the front door, but be warned, the roads are steep and challenging. There is easy access to other great days out such as the cycle trail along the Mawddach Estuary from Barmouth, walks around Llandanwg Beach or the Rhinog Hills, or a trip to climb Snowdon. There are good amenities in the village with pubs, a restaurant and small convenience stores. The hosts are very friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. An excellent break!
- A FlipKey verified reviewer, September 2010Mr Symonds “The people who owned the cottage were great.”

A tidey little cottage with great veiws. the owners live next door and could not be more friendly. The food at the local pub is of a high quality, and its not far to walk.It is however a steep return trip. I enjoyed my stay and would recomend this venue to any couple.
- A FlipKey verified reviewer, December 2009A FlipKey verified reviewer “A cosy retreat”
The owners were great - not intrusive, but there if necessary - the cottage and garden are gorgeous with everything necessary to make it a wonderful stay - perhaps a little settee would be more comfortable than two chairs, but that is all I can think of - the only thing that could be a problem for some people is the lane to the cottage which is very steep
- A FlipKey verified reviewer, December 2009Mrs Harris “The location was perfect for walkers.”
Quick access to shops pubs.
- Mrs Harris, September 2009Mr James “The cottage was very comfortable and the back garden was a haven for birds and wildlife.”

About the location
LLANBEDR
Harlech 3 miles; Barmouth 8 miles.
The pretty village of Llanbedr quietly nestles in ancient woodland between The Rhinogs, part of the Snowdonia Mountains, and the stunning golden beaches of the North Wales coastline. Situated next to the beautiful River Artro, and boasting a mild climate due to its unusual positioning behind the high dunes of a nature reserve, this charming village has an exciting array of wildlife and birds, handy local shops, bike hire and mountain walks on your doorstep, as well as two excellent pubs. The small town of Harlech is just 3 miles away and boasts the World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle, a majestic 13th century stronghold, the most impressive of all those built in North Wales by Edward I. Popular with golfers due to its famous Royal St. David's course, Harlech also boasts an excellent variety of amenities including some good quality restaurants and the most magnificent six-mile long sandy beach, perfect for wonderful walks and family fun. Nearby Barmouth offers the amazing Panorama Walk along the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, providing breathtaking vistas, which were described by John Ruskin as “the most sublime view in Europe” and also a harbour from which you can catch a ferry to Fairbourne for a ride on the miniature railway, or a boat trip out to sea to try mackerel fishing. With the delights of Snowdonia National Park and beautiful Cardigan Bay to discover, this is a fantastic holiday location at any time of the year.
