  • "A lovely break in a fantastic setting, the cottage was great - with the enclosed rear garden a boon for easy dog management."

The kitchen was well equipped with cafetière, tea pot and all the pans you needed - even a knife sharpener. Thanks for the coffee and cake too! Nice walks right on the door step, and a short walk to the village for supplies or the pub (just a steep climb back up….) In terms of improvement, somewhere to separate out the recycling to and instructions on where to take it for collection from the cottage would be good (apologies if there was and we missed it). Harlech beach and Barmouth both had recycling collection points though.

  • "We’ve just got back from a weeks stay at Ty Cerrig."

Although we enjoyed the quiet location of the pretty cottage and garden for the dogs/kids, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of accommodation. The reviews are all very encouraging on the Sykes website & cleanliness was rated highly. However we found the property tired and grubby. Of most concern to us was the mould; notably in the kitchen in the window reveal by the drainingboard & in the double bedroom where it appeared there had been a leak. We did not use this room for our stay. We hoovered and changed some of the bedding as we found dead insects and dog hairs in the beds. Generally it felt like the entire house could do with all surfaces being given a dust and wipe over & soft furnishings a wash.

  • "Beautiful quirky cottage, home from home."

We spent a wonderful week in Ty Cerreg. Both our dogs enjoyed themselves. So peaceful, no Wi-Fi and little phone reception with my provider but added to the charm. Loads of walks from the property (some overgrown) but keep exploring there are loads to choose from. Walk through the farm above the cottage and follow footpath ( little yellow arrows) through little sheep fields into woodland, then short lane along beautiful picturesque river down into Llanbedr. ( A little steep in places when walking back but much better than walking the road back up the hill). Have a cuppa ia cake at the village cafe, that’ll make the walk back up worth it. The cottage owners could not have been more helpful, and are always on hand to contact. On the whole would definitely recommend this cottage if you’re after an escape from it all.

Photos do not do it justice! The beds, furniture etc are all very good quality and the cottage as a whole is very comfortable. There is a large fenced garden at the back which provides a safe place for dogs to play. The surrounding countryside is stunning, and although the cottage is less than a mile from Llanbedr, it feels very quiet and remote. There is no Wi-Fi, so if internet access is important to you, this cottage is not for you.

  • "The property is lovely without doubt."

I guess I would suggest bigger beds , perhaps king size just for added comfort. The shower plug/drain needs looking at as we had to keep turning the shower off as we were worried the water would flow over the shower tray. It’s really one for the management team to be aware of. Facilities were great - everything we needed , thank you! If possible the property would benefit from WiFi as the signal up there is really weak but it was pleasant in its own way and not an issue for us. It’s a shame the people managing the property had not cut the grass… it was very long which spoilt the use of the garden … wet grass in the morning got our trousers wet so enjoying the early morning sun came with dampness. Again, not an issue , more an observation. All that said, we loved the cottage and really enjoyed our stay there. We would definitely recommend it and would absolutely stay again . THANK YOU X

Outside bins haven't been emptied, rubbish left from current improvements. We were told by the owner the arrival time is 6pm due to proper cleaning (due to Covid) but it didn't look like the cleaner was there on the day we arrived. It didn't appear the cottage was proper cleaned I am afraid. All available storage places were full of tins of paint, beddings, towels and all sorts of stuff making wardrobes and cupboards totally unusable. The cottage pleasant enough in lovely position, very quiet, comfortable but dated, lovely wood burner. Lovely owners. Nice secured garden for dogs, quiet neighbours. The cottage has been updated by a new carpet and new shower which we were told by the owners before we arrived. Lots of footpaths all around not very used you can get lost :) beautiful views, pub and local shop in the village. We would be happy to go back there again for our next holiday in Wales.

Dead insects on two beds, looks like woodworm in rafters and this debris had fallen on the pillows of two beds. Owner got cleaner back to replace sheets and fully clean but this was obviously not done. More woodworm debris an hour later, would question structural integrity of this beam. Had not been vacuumed. Owner offered us a full refund which we accepted resulting in us driving a 427 mile round trip that day. External door in child's bedroom not shown on photos. Only 4 spaces at table, not acceptable for a cottage that is advertised as sleeping more. When did Sykes last inspect this property. Sykes - please contact us to further discuss.

  • "We had a really lovely week here."

The cottage was every bit as appealing as it appeared in the advertisement. It was quaint, cosy with plenty of room and lots of essential equipment. The garden was lovely and contained which was great for our 1 year old. I am not sure why the owners express it as only sleeping 5 as there is plenty of room for 6 - a couple in one room and a family of four in the other. we brought a travel cot for the baby, but actually, she slept in the single bed (with additional bedding making it safe) and her older sister slept in the single bed above the double where her Mum and Dad slept. The log burner was an added bonus and there were loads of games and details of walks nearby. I would have liked to know if there were things like and iron and ironing board and bar-b-q, both of which they do have but I had to ring the owner to find out about the bar-b-q which was an old one left by a previous owner, and was stored in the outside box at the side of the house. We were also very confused about the refuse and recycling. We are avid recyclers but could not find a food bin to empty the kitchen food bin into, neither could we find the trolley which all other neighbours seemed to possess to carry the boxes down to the collection point. In the end we just threw the food waste away and left the recycling in the boxes by the house in the hopes that they could still be collected. You definitely need a car for this cottage, unless you have a lot of provisions with you and are extremely fit! The beaches are amazing, and the countryside beautiful. We found loads to do, a ride on the Ffestiniog Railway, Harlech Castle, the Slate Mine with farm attached and the fair at Barmouth. All in all, a brilliant holiday, only wish we had longer than a week. Apologies for not writing in the visitors book, we completely forgot in our effort to depart on time. Thank you very much. We hope to be back one day and will strongly recommend this property.

The village of Llanbedr was a short 10 minute walk away, and the pub in the village, The Victoria Inn did lovely food. We had a couple of afternoons sat in the beer garden overlooking the river. The access road from the village is very narrow and even though there are passing points, we were glad we did not encounter another vehicle, especially in the dark! Unfortunately for us, it rained every day bar one, but this did not spoil our enjoyment of the holiday.. There was plenty of useful information inside a welcome folder, but from our point of view, we would have liked to have seen comments surrounding the actual history of the cottage. Our dog, like most, is curious so we were reassured that the property was securely fenced so we could let him out without worrying about him going astray; perhaps the lawn could be cut on a regular basis at this time of year as the grass was quite long. A really enjoyable stay, ideally placed for sightseeing in the Snowdonia National Park.

Because of the location {surrounded by trees}, there's not much in the way of views from the windows, but a short walk along the track will give you views across the sea and a bit further 'round the corner' will reveal a most amazing view of mountains.
