  • "Shepherd's Rest was absolutely beautiful."

The owners (Carol and David) were extremely friendly, helpful and quick to respond to any questions right from the start. The lodge itself was one of the best we've ever stayed in - everything was thought of. Full of little touches to make it extra special, as well as a feeling of total luxury with underfloor heating, robes and hot tub, along with high quality bathrooms and bed linen. We hope to return one day.

Dear Gemma Thank you so much for your extremely kind review. It was an absolute pleasure to have you stay with us and we are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. • "Wow wow wow, Shepherd's Rest was the perfect place to relax and unwind, everything was amazing, hosts David and Carol where so welcoming and lovely and nothing was too much trouble, Carol contacted me personally couple of weeks before hand to answer a query I had and was so helpful and that continued when we had any queries or questions once we arrived."

The property is gorgeous with everything you could need the and the hot tub, for us, with a teenager in tow was great fun, so relaxing and all our evenings centred around it. Only thing I would have changed was ordering more food to cook dinners, on holiday I usually like a break from cooking and to get out and enjoy the pubs and restaurants but we ended up doing extra shopping so we could get back and chill out at the lodge, use the tub and take in the breath taking views. We are already trying to sort out a return visit later this year. Thanks for a much needed relaxing break!

Dear Gary and Jo, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. We loved having you stay with us and of course, we have been so delighted to welcome you back since your stay in the summer! Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy 2023! • "My wife and I with our 2 kids (12,14) and our new 7month old mini sausage dog booked Shepherds Rest for 7 nights."

Words cannot describe the perfection of the place Carol and Dave have created. set up high on the 35 acres of land they have are 3 amazing lodges stealing blistering views of the welsh countryside. Carol called the day before we came to discuss our arrival and what to expect. We chatted as friends immediately, finding common ground in both owning a mini sausage dog each. (they played together all week, it was so fun to see them running across the huge perfectly manicured lodge garden) . Meg the sheep dog visited regularly also and became part of daily routine!. Carol and Dave are magnificent hosts, tending to all your needs, info on places to go and things to do were plenty. So many "little things" Carol and Dave do all help to a wonderful stay. Its very clear once you get there you haven't booked a lodge for the week, you have booked an experience that they have worked tirelessly to create for their guests. The kids enjoyed going down the hill to the hens to collect fresh eggs in the morning. playing with meg, mini, mia, the dogs. The views at night sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine, the fully kitted out kitchen, the walk in shower, the stand alone bath, I could go on and on. We will never forget this family holiday and I can not recommend it enough. we intend on returning as a larger group with more of my family to capture this amazing place once again. Hats off to Carol and Dave for their little piece of paradise. And thank you once again for a perfect stay at Shepherds Rest

Dear Phil, Petra, girls and Harvey! Thank you so much for your very kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and it was lovely to have you here. Property Owner

  • "Just WOW. I'd discovered Plas Robin many months ago and stored it in my mind for a special occasion."

When my other half suggested going away for our boys birthday, I knew Plas Robin would be the perfect place. Our boy is our Shih Tzu Bailey, who turned 16 on the day we checked in. He's a very special boy, who recovered from doggy paralysis during the first lock down. We had really high expectations for this trip after looking at reviews and photos but I can honestly say it’s even more amazing in person than you could possibly imagine. The lodge is decorated to such a high standard and is so well equipped, we managed to cook full meals ever day and even bake at the weekend. Bailey spent most of the week sat by the bedroom patio door, looking out into the garden. Us humans switched from watching Netflix, to taking in the beautiful views from the hot tub. Just when I thought our staycation couldn't get anymore perfect, my other half asked me to marry him in front of the fire! Not only did Carol bring a card and a lovely gift to say congratulations to us both, I’ve since found out she also helped arrange for a family member to send us a bouquet of flowers! Plas Robin really has been the most magical break ever and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you Carol & Dave for creating something so perfect, we can’t wait to return. xxxx

We loved being a small part of your very special break Kairon!❤ Congratulations! Thank you so much for your very kind comments which mean so much to us both. Best wishes with all the wedding planning - enjoy Property Owner

  • "We stayed in Shepard’s rest over my birthday in January with our dog Luna and we absolutely loved it."

The property is in a great location with stunning views and an incredible view of the night sky from the hot tub. Carol and David were great hosts and popped up to visit after our arrival to check we had everything we needed and show us how to turn in the hot tub. We also had a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us when we arrived with fresh bread from a local bakery and eggs from their own chickens. The cabin itself is beautiful and quite spacious, with a lovely shower and bath and a really great kitchen. The fridge and freezer are of a good size (we were a bit worried as we brought our dogs food that needs to remain frozen) but it more than accommodated our needs and we were pleased to find out tesco would deliver (the tesco in Newtown is only a short drive anyway). The area was fenced off and what’s a gate that can be shut to contain any doggys and Luna had a great time running around and exploring as well as playing with lovely Meg the collie! The log fire was a great edition too! Would highly recommend to all!!

Dear Tim, thank you so much for your lovely feedback and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay! Meg thoroughly enjoyed her holiday too! We do hope that we can welcome you back in the future. Kindest regards, Carol & David xx Property Owner

We were also provided with an information folder of the area and recommendations which were really useful. What an absolutely fantastic location, we were completely blown away with the view, you could sit in the living area, patio or hot tub and just admire what a beautiful area it’s situated in. The welcome hamper was another great touch, full of lot’s of lovely goodies, with even some treats left for our dog. Everything inside the house has been done to a very high standard. Fluffy white towelling gowns, bath soak, seperate hot tub towels and a lovely welcome basket of goodies was all very much appreciated. The views from the panoramic window are never boring, and the layout of the property ensures privacy and a very peaceful break. The owners are literally at the end of the driveway, and are on hand to answer any queries. • "What a fantastic place!"

The lodge is superb and the views simply amazing! It is furnished to a very high standard, very new and so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! The log burning fire was such a nice feature and so cosy and warm. The added bonus outside was the lovely warm hot tub that we used every day and why not with those stunning views! Carol and David the owners made sure we had everything we needed and were the perfect hosts! Their lovely Dog Meg was a regular visitor and you can collect eggs from the chicken hut just down the bottom of the field! Another bonus is the lovely little bakery in the village where you can order the day before and go and collect it, it’s like going back in time where you leave your money in an envelope and post it in a tin! Such a trusting and refreshing thing! I would definitely recommend this lodge so much so we are thinking of going back next year as we had such an amazing holiday!

The lodges are VERY well equipped with lots of thought out detail. They are very well designed with no expense spared. Carol, David and their family were fantastic hosts, friendly and only too happy to accommodate you. The setting is a perfect getaway, peaceful and picture perfect. This was one of the best holidays we have ever experienced. The village bakery was excellent and like stepping back in time. The ability to collect your own fresh eggs every morning from the hens on site was a delight. The surrounding village of Montgomery was beautiful and a short walk away. If you are seeking a luxury, relaxing, well equipped, peaceful getaway then I think this place is hard to beat. We will absolutely be returning and can not wait for the next time.
