“Paul the owner is a very friendly helpfull man who really put himself out when our car broke down for which we are extremely greatful.”

    ...

It was delightful to see the masses of birds on the feeders outside the duel aspect kitchen windows. The Setee and chair in the lounge are the most comfortable we have ever experienced in a holiday cottage. The cottage is warm and the wood burning fire helps boost the cosyness (especially in stormy weather which we experienced!). The cottage retains many original features the date above the Inn door states 1747! We have only two suggestions a stair gate on open stairs at the top would be useful, mainly because it is close to the stepup from the shower room, we appreciate this is only due to the age of the property . The king size bed needs new mattress.

This lovely property is a semi-detached cottage attached to the owner's home which was formerly the Old Railway Inn, in a quiet position of the Carmarthenshire village of Maesycrugiau.

This valley cottage is ideally located in a peaceful setting surrounded by stunning Welsh scenery.

The entrance leads into the cosy kitchen with dining area and then through into the cosy living room, where many nights can be spent relaxing in front of the woodburning fire.

You will be able to find a quiet area if you so wish, with the large enclosed outside patio with generous seating area.

The pretty seaside village of Llangrannog is only 18 miles away, along with the stunning sand dunes at the National Trust’s Penbryn Beach.

There are a fabulous array of outdoor activities nearby with canoeing in nearby Llandysul, walking, cycling and bird watching.

Why not visit Brecha Forest with its fantastic walking and cycling trails, a real favourite of mountain bikers, or the adjacent Llanllwni Mountain with is stretch of heathland and impressive views.

If you enjoy the outdoors, there is a canoeing centre in nearby Llandysul, and superb countryside and coastal walks, boat trips to spot dolphins, watersports and excellent beaches can all be found in the area.

A wonderful base whatever you choose to do.

About the location

PENCADER

Carmarthen 12 miles.

Pencader is a small village in the Welsh county of Carmarthenshire, just south-east of Llandysul and south-west of Llanybydder. It is a quiet village set in a west Wales valley with little more than 500 houses a shop, a fine fish and chip shop and two pubs. It hosts the site of an old castle, which is now a grassy Motte. Just 12 miles away the market town of Carmarthen offers a variety of large high street shops, unique local produce shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as a cinema and theatre. Visit Merlin's Hill Centre, steeped in history and shrouded in mystery, where legend has it that Merlin lies imprisoned inside the hill. With the famous Boat House of Dylan Thomas at Laugharne, the many castles and museums to explore, the wonderful sandy beaches of Carmarthen and Cardigan coastlines, National Botanic Gardens, the Wetland Centre or the famous Gwili Steam Railway all within a short drive makes this area a great base for a wonderful family holiday.
