  • "An absolutely five star holiday accommodation run by friendly and helpful owners."

Really can’t say more about this comfortable and well maintained property - highly recommended for any family wanting to visit mid Wales and Lake Vyrnwy area.

  • "Very spacious, well equipped and comfortable cottage with friendly hosts on hand."

We were six adults with four babies and fitted in fine. What a beautiful area, we loved Lake Vyrnwy. Cooking on the woodburning stove was fine as the weather wasn't great - maybe not so good in hot weather. I would recommend an induction plate as a back up rather than the solid electric rings though, as these are difficult to control and must use lots of electricity. Also, the lack of a kitchen waste bin meant we had to use a carrier bag on the back door handle! Small things which didn't detract from a lovely week with the family.

Thank you for your comments – they are very welcome. When preparing the cottage for new visitors we aim to ensure that everything is to the highest standards of cleanliness and that every item of equipment is working correctly and as described in the information. We would have welcomed any comments where you thought we might have fallen short. We provide a waste bin just outside the back door which others visitors have found to be quite adequate. We acknowledge that this might have been a challenge with a very large group with so many youngsters. We tried hard to help you as much as we could during the week. Maybe that was not enough. When the barn as converted into a holiday cottage in 2012, we strove to make it as eco-friendly as possible with the technologies available at the time. Installing the wood-burning range using fuel we have grown on our own land was part of that package. We did provide a microwave cooker with its own grill and an electric hob for those occasions when it was not convenient to light the range. We did not feel it appropriate to install a further hob. • "A very relaxing and peaceful holiday."

Keith and Decia were very helpful particularly providing aids for my wife’s limited mobility. It was great watching the birds, including woodpeckers, at the regularly topped up bird feeder. Enjoyed using the log fired Esse cooker although it did offer a few challenges. In the cooler months and given proper control of it I imagine it would be an interesting experience. It has to said however that we do ‘self cater’, cooking most of our meals at the cottage. On that note for future visitors - the local butcher provides really good local produce and roasts on the Esse are delicious. Thank you Keith and Decia for a very relaxing holiday - just what we needed.

It's an amazing barn conversion with all the mod cons & home comforts you'd ever need. There were only three of us including a 1 year old, but I'd happily stay here with 6 people as a there is so much space. Highly recommended!

  • "Lovely cottage and friendly owners."

Great to have 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We did find that having an aga in the kitchen was impractical for a weeks stay especially as we've never used one before, we would have preferred a standard oven. We were unable to keep our windows open at night in the front bedroom, due to the amount of noise coming up the valley from the town, barking dogs, reversing lorries etc. which meant we had to choose between either a hot room or a noisy one - either way we did not sleep well in this cottage. Family members in the other 2 bedrooms were fine, as they are situated at the back of the cottage.

Thank you for your comments. When we designed the cottage, we chose to make it as eco-friendly as possible with solar hot water, solar electric generation and wood-based central heating and cooking using logs from our own wood. Having a modern, wood-burning range in the kitchen may be a novelty, but we are always on hand to show visitors how to use it. The cottage is situated in a very quiet area where unusual sounds are accentuated. The incident with the dog was unfortunate and has been resolved. Property Owner

The cottage was comfortable, extremely clean and the attention to detail really made our stay feel that extra special - fresh chicken eggs, fresh fruit, milk in the fridge and a warm welcome where the owners made the effort to learn our names before we arrived, addressing our children with a friendly and warm hello. A great location for visiting the local area. During our weekend we had a Fantastic bike ride along the mawddach trail and a climb to rodneys pillar. We shall definitely visit again.

........ We feel AGA cooking is difficult in the summer, when you are out most of the day and the AGA takes hours to be ready for cooking. The same at breakfast, not ideal getting up at 7am to 'fire up the AGA'. I'm sure it's great for cosy autumn/winter breaks, better to install a small electric oven for convenience, a microwave doesn't suffice.

The town is close and the locals are very friendly. The area is beautiful lots to see and walking in the area is rewarding but map skills are required as way markers are not always in evidence. But having said that one can’t get too lost and the views are spectacular. The facilities in the cottage are excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We and 2 other couples enjoyed a fabulous weekend taking in the local surroundings on short walks with shops and restaurants no more than five minutes away. The cottage had all the facilities you need for a cosy relaxing weekend however cold it was outside. It is located in a very quaint little village with lovely views when out walking and areas of natural beauty on it's doorstep. We drove home via Lake Vyrnwy which is only 10 mile from the village. This is one cottage we will return to with family and friends. Thank you Keith & Decia
