  • "The cottage was very clean and cosy; the log burner was a welcome addition especially given the stone flooring."

The one issue that we had was how busy the main road was - it is difficult to use the off road parking safely given the bend in the road makes it difficult to see the speeding vehicles coming from the right (they are also very noisy in the middle of the night). Would though book again

  • "The cottage was clean, tidy and comfortable."

Ideally located for trips out to see the local wildlife centres. Although the road outside the cottage is busy it isn’t really noticeable once inside the cottage. Maybe a few more instructions about the electrical appliances and the recycling would be useful. Definitely a beautiful place to stay and we would definitely recommend it.

  • "Good location for me."

Everything provided. One useful thing that would be helpful is a list of what recycling goes in what box as where I live it is a very different system. Really comfortable bed. Traffic noise from the A44 which is right outside was the only downside.

  • "Lovely cottage with plenty of storage and workspace in the kitchen."

Comfy lounge and decent size TV. Good storage in the bedroom, however one side of the bed is close to the wall. Bathroom small, but not an inconvenience. There is no gate across the driveway which could cause a problem if you have a lively dog. Getting in and out of the drive was tricky due to the main road. Sitting out area was pleasant, but the top garden shown in the description was only accessible if you were a mountain goat! Could have done with an airer to dry clothes (if you wanted to do washing) and an ironing board. Village shop had the essentials and the Co-op was only 5 miles away. Easy to visit Aberystwyth and the Elan Valley. Even though I have pointed out some downsides none of these would prevent us from booking again.

  • "We had a lovely stay in Brook Cottage ."

Compact little cottage but everything you needed and well placed for visiting round the area . Two pubs down the road both serving lovely food and a post office with shop nearby for anything else you might need. Would definitely visit again and good that we could bring the dog with us. Thank you

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location to explore a beautiful area."

The welcome pack of tea, coffee etc was much appreciated as was the pint of milk in the fridge. Log burner was great and made the cottage very snug in the evenings.

  • "This is a lovely cottage in an outstandingly beautiful part of Wales within easy reach of Aberystwyth, Borth beaches, Powys Castle, Hereford etc."

The Elan Valley dams are very close by and there is a good supermarket at Llandeiloes which is also close by. I could see this cottage being a cosy retreat in colder months with its stove in the dining room. I would definitely consider it again if I'm up that way. There is no DVD player.

  • "The pictures of the cottage interior are very misleading as is the write up about the cottage."

On entering the property there is no handy cloakroom, its a space in the living room where the washer is, great to have a washer but nowhere to dry anything. The furniture in the lounge is different than that shown in the pictures, where are the 2 sumptuous sofas? there is a 3 seater settee and chair which look and feel very dated, no lovely coffee table. Into the dining room, the dining table and chairs as shown have been replaced with dated furniture. Moving on to upstairs, the stairs are quite steep and an odd shape at the top, wouldn't recommend this for anyone with small children or with mobility issues. The wardrobe had 6 hangers 2 wire, 1 plastic and 3 of the type that hold skirts etc., not enough for 2 people for a week. The family bathroom is tight there is nothing 'light and airy' about it, no window, yes light with the light on. The road is very busy at times, traffic moves very quickly and means you get a lot of noise. The weather was very hot during our stay which meant we needed to open the windows (no fan in the cottage) which resulted in us having very disturbed sleep from the road noise. In summary the cottage is very dated and doesn't match the pictures and write up on the website, even the garden furniture was different. We arrived late and would have liked a brew but the local shop was shut and there wasn't any milk provide, I would ditch the wafer biscuits and provide a pint of milk.

Thank you for your comments. Our photograph gallery has since been updated to reflect the cottage style. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Property Owner
