My wife and l like having countryside cottages etc. This year we noticed a picture on the "Sykes" website of a cabin called the "Rivers Nest" in a little Welsh village called "Llangynog". We booked a weeks break. Upon arrival the owner greeted us, which was nice and showed us around. The cabin is adjacent but above the River Tant. The cabin offered 100% comfort and every facility not only to provide an excellent holiday, but total tranquillity, amazing. The wildlife and farm animals came up to the door and to the cabins fence. The wildlife included many woodland birds including Jays and Kingfishers, squirrels, pheasants, etc. In addition, opposite a farmers field with cattle and sheep who also cross the river and come up close to say hello. If you don't want to cook, there is an excellent pub, "The New Inn" only ten minutes walk up the road who provide excellent food and drinks. We can't say anything further except two points; 1). Try it, you will not be disappointed. 2). We will be going back. Many thanks to Chris and Alan. Carol & John Fairclough. Fotographic Images.

The pleasant village of Llangynog lies in breathtaking countryside amidst the beautiful Berwyn Mountains and surrounding wooded hills and valleys. The area has a history of lead, silver and slate mining dating back to the 17th Century but today it is a renowned location for climbing, birdwatching, walking and cycling, with famous mountain bike trails near Dolgellau, and a mountain bike centre at Llandegla. Llangynog boasts two pubs, both of which serve good food and are perfect to relax in after an exciting day out, plus on the outskirts of the village is a down hill mountain bike centre and a motorbike experience, which is set on a 1500 acre site. Enjoy Lake Bala, a wonderful beauty spot, with excellent fishing, a variety of water sports including white water rafting and a lakeside steam railway, or visit Lake Vyrnwy, which has a RSPB centre, bike hire and a sculpture park. Also within easy reach is Llanrhaeadr Waterfall, the tallest single drop waterfall in England and Wales.
