  • "Hosts were lovely and very welcoming, and the cottage was situated in a beautiful spot next to the river."

Although we knew this cottage would be basic we did not expect items to be dirty and so old. The sofa had worn so much it was threadbare with one cushion torn open, it wasn't even clean, it had a layer of dog hairs down the back where dogs had been rubbing. (We have non moulting breed so knew it wasn't them). This is also the first time we have had to buy air fresheners when in a cottage. We had to clean all the kitchen cupboard doors where you touch as you could see the layer of grime and place chopping boards outside as they smelt so bad. The layout was very strange and not as expected - the only access to what is a wonderful garden was through the toilet/shower room!! Unfortunately you couldn't see the garden from inside the house as all the onlooking windows were from the adjoining cottage. We thought having an en-suite to the master room would be ideal but it was only a toilet, there was nowhere to wash your hands so had to go downstairs anyway. We still had a great time in the local countryside but this cottage needs improvements.

  • "Lovely garden."

. Although overlooked by neighbour, didn't bother us but not private at all. Beautiful walk from the doorstep but sheep in the paddock next to the garden so not that dog friendly. Very cosy inside, cream carpets so if you have dogs take plenty of towels and covers. Really great owners very hrlpful and pleasant. Kitchen needs some attention Great for a couple and 2 dogs. Would recommend

  • "The cottage is very homely."

Bathroom and bedrooms very good. Lounge comfortable. Garden very good and overlooks the river Wye. Unfortunately the kitchen is very poor. Very outdated units and appliances. The whole thing needs stripping out and starting afresh. It is also extremely small but could easily be extended to make a much better facility. Everything about the kitchen is annoying when you work in it. Having said all that we did enjoy our 4 nights very much. The owners were very friendly. We don't usually but will consider booking this cottage again. That's if I don't offend the owners too much with my comments.

The Glaslyn Estate is an ideal location to see the surrounding country side and places of interest. The Estate's location is also great, the walk along the river which runs through the estate is very beautiful. The owners of the estate are friendly and I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wanted a peaceful and stress free holiday.

  • "The location is fantastic and we found lots to do around the area, if you prefer a relaxing holiday this also would not be a problem the cottage is part of the Glaslyn Estate and the river Wye runs along the bottom of the garden it is an ideal location for walking and fishing, the cottage would benefit from some improvements to the bathroom in particular the shower area , but you have to except that it is an older property and has a lot of character."

  • "We had a lovely week staying at this cottage."

It is a fantastic location to be able to sit in the garden and watch the river and birds go by. We found it very relaxing and I would highly recommend this as an area to stay. I particularly enjoyed visiting the local Red Kite feeding station and the various walks that can be enjoyed near by. There were various Pubs/Restaurants available in Rhayader should you wish to eat out and the owners of the property were very friendly and close by should there be any issues.

The garden was idyllic, the river was right at the bottom as described. The fishing was excellent with hard fighting trout. The location was good as it was central for exploring Wales. The nearby town had everything you wanted. I would like to extend a special thank you to the owner for a perfect holiday.
