  • "Very cosy and extremely clean property."

Great location. Well equipped and spacious kitchen with plenty of cutlery and utensils. Sky box with smart TV ideal for winter nights. Well laid out, en suite in master bedroom, lovely feature. Kate was friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble.

  • "The cottage was more spacious than expected, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms."

It was nicely decorated and very warm and comfortable, which was welcome in a wet November. As we took our dog, it was particularly useful to be able to use the cloakroom as a tack room to clean him off after muddy walks. The washing machine also saw plenty of use for cleaning his towels. We wanted a quiet location, away from fireworks, and Broughton Stables fitted the bill. We had a very pleasant stay and can recommend this cottage.

  • "A lovely cosy cottage which was warm and very clean."

The beds are super comfy as is the sofa. The rural location means it’s lovely and quiet. You do need to drive to get anywhere, but it’s easy to do so. It would better if the kitchen had essentials like tea, coffee, salt, pepper, clingfilm etc

Beautiful old beams and original features. Large garden which our dog loved. Located on a quite farm and surrounded by lovely views and animals. The large on suite bath is very relaxing after a day's hiking in the local forest. The owner is lovely and their if you need anything, we are already looking at dates for our next stay.

  • "Broughton Cottage is clean, comfortable and characterful with quirky charm, however I was disappointed on arrival by the lack of basics provided by every other self catering cottage I’ve been too for over a decade."

No welcome pack or toiletries other than soap and loo roll so make sure you bring everything with you. There wasn’t an information pack or guest book and despite the sky box most channels, ie BBC 1 etc and Sky were unavailable.

This would be an ideal place for a family holiday as it is very safe and there are lots of animals.

  • "Great week at Broughton stables accompanied with beautiful weather, the stables are in a lovely quiet location surrounded by beautiful scenery alongside a working farm, their are two good sized bedrooms with the master having en-suite bathroom with bath but no shower, the shower is downstairs in the entrance hall the this being the second bathroom."

The lounge is average size and had a open plan kitchen, off the lounge is the entrance hallway to the stairs and utility room with washing machine and fridge freezer. Broughton Stables is very quirky with all the original beams that brings character to the cottage. We enjoyed our week and would definitely return as Bishops Castle is one very beautiful town that is on the Shropshire Way with mile of beautiful scenery. Thank you for our lovely stay.

  • "A lovely, cosy and charming converted barn on a working farm in beautiful countryside - and a friendly welcome from the owner who lives next door."

It could be improved if it had some local guidebooks/maps, a visitors book (the comments that previous guests make regarding places to go are always helpful), and maybe a few books and games for those rainy days - but it was a lovely place to stay and suited us well.

  • "It was generally clean and comfortable although there was a bit of an unpleasant drain smell."

It would have been nice to have a few basics like salt, black pepper, cooking oil, tin foil and something more than a thin cloth for washing up. The oven needs a really good clean, especially the grill tray grid which was black with baked on grease - ok on a bbq where it's going to get burnt off but not in an oven. There were no leaflets or information of things to do in the area and no guest book which is also good for getting up to date tips on what's good to do. The owner did direct us to the local dog friendly restaurant which was helpful.

  • "Fantastic accommodation, beautiful location with some wonderful walks nearby, a lovely couple of towns and a fair few things to keep one occupied."

I particularly loved going into the Castle Hotel I’m Bishops Castle with real fires and lovely meals and coffee. The owner of the cottage was very helpful. Im staying there again, most definitely. One issue to be mindful of, if you have a back problem just ask about the roof beam in the double bedroom. The hight of the beam was fine for me, I’m 62, but someone with back problems may not get under it to the wardrobe and dressing table. But seriously it’s gem.

I soon realised why so comfy when I checked out getting myself the same mattress Just two small things really 1 An oven glove 2 After running hoover around before we left there was an awful dog smell everywhere You may need to look into getting some hoover smellies to pop inside the Hoover to prevent the whole place smelling of wet dogs. Everything else was perfect Thankyou

Really enjoyed seeing Kate feeding the lambs and being on the farm with the beautiful Shropshire views from all windows. The lampshade on the stairs needs a clean but otherwise it was absolutely spotless! I do agree with previous visitors that a few walking maps and local information would be handy. I will certainly stay again, wonderful location, host and accommodation.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Broughton Stables, the perfectly situated converted barn is beautifully renovated and comfortable."

It’s full of character (ancient oak beams) with great views from the living-room/kitchen across the garden to the hills. Kate the owner (very friendly and approachable) had catered for everything. All the essentials and more. It was clean, airy, fresh and practical with comfortable beds and a lovely on-suite, great for a soak after long walks with the dog. We felt relaxed and at home straight away, we couldn’t have asked for more. The barn is in a picturesque and tranquil location with a private garden to enjoy the view, kittens, pet sheep and the stunning night sky. We enjoyed some fabulous walks in the Shropshire hills and trails, the surrounding area is beautiful with so much to discover. We certainly recommend and will book to stay again to discover more of this beautiful county. We returned from our stay relaxed and revived. We have stayed in many cottages and consider this one of the best.

Flies nest outside the second bedroom when we arrived were a bit off putting as a first impression but they did go when disturbed and didnt come back. Not enough hot water for more than one bath at a time. No tea towels in kitchen area. Just a suggestion that a small welcome card to outline local amenities would have been useful and maybe a dvd player for winter breaks when the weather is bad?

Hello Denise, thank you for your feedback, we are glad you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the local area. Being a newly refurbished property we are grateful for the feedback about the storage space for groceries, and have since added a new storage cupboard in the utility room. Kind regards, Kate.
