  • "This is a fabulous cottage with great attention to detail."

It is comfortable, clean and cosy with amazing views over the countryside. The lane up to it is single track and can be a little daunting but the cottage is well worth the journey. Would recommend it and will hopefully be returning next year.

Thank you for your kind remarks and informative review. We work with our neighbours to maintain the shared lane as best as possible, its all part of the remote retreat atmosphere this location benefits from. Glad you enjoyed your stay, and thanks again for taking the time to post a review. Property Owner

Fantastic location with stunning views, Will and Karen were fantastic hosts, welcoming but not overpowering, on hand if needed. The accommodation provided us with everything we required, the log burner a definate asset when the weather becomes cooler. Lots of places to visit or a walkers and nature paradise. Relax on the decking watching the sky changing, the weather rolling up the valley, the Red Kite visiting in the afternoon, or wrap up and watching the stars shining! A great, relaxing break

It was good for me, too, I just like to take my place as much as I can. The area is lovely, many National Trust and English heritage sites, castles, ruins, zoo, there are a lot to see around. However, be careful when up to the cottage. The instruction get from Sykes is pretty clear and if followed, we can't be lost. But the single track is getting very bumpy for a few hundred feet close to the house (at the last turn), so up and down take extra time always, as we can drive only very slowly. Please bear in mind that these tracks are usually used by durable real jeep and land rovers (sometimes tractors), so a city-go-car can react in a different way than other times... Welcome pack was a bonus, TV is huge and practical with its ever-simplest switch, which is the easiest to handle. Couches are extra comfy:) The whole lodge's decoration and style is just simple and natural, just like the colours. I really appreciate the help from Will and Karen, when my car decided not to leave on the day of departure. The car battery charger and the calming and encouraging words helped a lot:)

The gift bottle stopper came in very handy as well. We managed easily in the kitchen, for the two of us there was everything we needed. The long winding drive up needs to be taken cautiously but the gorgeous rolling hill views are well worth the climb. Plentiful logs kept us cosy and warm inside whilst outside the seating area was ideal for a glass of bubbly as the mists receded before the sun went down. A wander around the fields to meet the (very gentle) sheep and say hello to the (well behaved) dog and (gorgeous) cat was invigorating.
