Very clean and comfortable. Stunning view from the dining room. Would have been nice to have a sofa or comfy chair in there to enjoy the scenery longer. The hosts were so helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome on their farm. Great location to explore this beautiful part of Wales. We will definitely visit again.

Owners Sue & Jonathan are lovely and really helpful, the house is really well equipped, warm and comfortable and provides a really useful book offering plenty of information on places to visit, eat drink - perfect for families & pets. If you are looking to get away from it all in a stunning location then I highly recommend staying here.

  • "We had an excellent holiday, lovely cottage with beautiful surroundings."

Kitchen was well stocked, although some of our party struggled with the spiral staircase, so sat on dining chairs for the full week. Think a downstairs tv would be useful with some comfy chairs, and maybe waterproof sheet on kids beds. Hosts were really helpful, and the kids loved seeing the goats and ducks. Recommendations of where to visit was useful. Quite a remote location which we liked, perfect for watching the stars on a clear night. Think some outdoor storage for bikes would be helpful.

The cottage was lovely and clean and there was plenty of space for our family of 10. The Owl House is in a beautiful location and not far from local amenities. We had lovely day visits to Powis Castle, British Ironwork Museum, Lake Vyrnwy, Barmouth beach and Llangollen, all within an easy drive away. Jonathan and Sue were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The homemade cake on arrival was much appreciated. The kids loved putting Jonathan and Sue's goats and ducks to bed and walking their dog. Lots of happy memories made, we woùld definitely recommend the Owl House.

  • "Our stay at The Owl House far exceeded our expectation."

The house was very comfortable, had the highest quality equipment and everything was spotlessly clean. At night we played games like Jenga, Scrabble and You be the Judge from the many games provided. There were also plenty of books to browse for useful information or just have a good read. We all loved eating on the patio, from where the views of the hills were just marvellous. We have always used self-catering accommodation for holidays for over the last 20 years and this was the very best. The location of the Owl House was idyllic and all of us were de-stressed within a day. It is very close to Lake Vyrnwy (20 minutes’ drive) and Bala is only about 45 minutes’ drive from where we climbed a mountain. The location means that it is very easy to explore north, south and central Wales. The owners were friendly, generous and very helpful.

There were 11 of us, a mix of adults, teenagers and younger children and there was plenty of room for us all. The house is very well equipped and finished to a high standard and the views from the garden are amazing, it’s very tranquil, the only noise the baa of the sheep and lambs in the surrounding hills. The walk to the bench at the top of the hill is definitely well worth it, the sunset we saw up there was amazing. The highlight for the 2 youngest children in our group was definitely feeding Bracken and Bramble the goats, playing with Patsy the dog and helping Sue put the ducks to bed in the evening. A truly magical place, would highly recommend.

  • "We had a fabulous week at The Owl House - which was booked quite lates - so we ended up in what is a deceptively large property - though it still feels cozy inside for a family of three with two small dogs."

The images on the website are really good, but even so we were still very pleasantly surprised when we arrived with both the location and the quality of the cottage. Everything has been finished to really high standard and we quickly settled-in for a fabulous week. There is a convenience store and local butcher in the village about a 5 minute drive away and the walking immediately around the cottage is fabulous. Sue and Jonathan the owners who live on the site opposite the cottage could not be be more helpful - though they are very happy just to leave you to enjoy the property. As we arrived - Sue brought over homemade scones and jam/clotted cream as a welcome - which was a lovely touch and really highlights the thought that they have put into the properties. There is a laundry room for guest use and there is plenty of room for hanging coats etc. in the property after walking. the whole property is provided with underfloor heating which works really well and the kitchen is really well equipped with a huge fridge/freezer and range cooker with induction hob. We even got to sample home-grown potatoes and carrots which Sue kindly offered us and they were both delicious. Most of the land is available to use when using the cottage and those parts that are private are clearly signed. If you ask, there is usually an area where dogs can be exercised off the lead - though as this is sheep country it is really important to ensure that dogs are kept on a lead most of the time. The garden to the cottage is fenced and so it was great to be able to let the dogs out here to run freely as required. We also got to see the separate smaller cottage tucked away behind Owl House when there was a changeover and it is a fabulous little space. And we did not see or hear the people staying here over the entire week - both are very private. A truly wonderful cottage with great local hosts.

Sue and Jonathan were very welcoming and the welcome homemade cake was delicious. However there was nothing more special than enjoying the wonderful and breathtaking view from the dining room window and large decking area. The Owl House is very close to the Snowdonia National Park but you don't have to travel very far to see beautiful sights such as Lake Vyrnwy, Pistyll Rhaedyr and Powis Castle.

  • "WOW WOW WOW !"

!! Really don't know where to start, We have just returned from an amazing week at the Owl house, where we were welcomed by a homemade cake and spotlessly clean accommodation. Sue and Jonathan are the perfect host's nothing is too much trouble, with recommendations of things to do for all the family and the best times to do them to recommending the local butcher Ricky Lloyd which made our BBQs very special indeed with the quality of the meat, We all enjoyed meeting the goats, ducks and ducklings along with the many walks across the farmland. The owl house has been converted and decorated with passion and to a very high standard with the guests in mind all the way, the beds are so comfortable, laying in bed watching the stars from the Velux window was an added bonus, the showers are great and the attention to detail throughout the property is endless, everything has been thought out so well, even down to the positioning of the stone-built BBQ with its views of the valley, the location of the Owl house is close to the popular lake Vyrnwy and the Snowdonia National Park we even found Pont Llogel a 20 min drive away with its lovely walks along the river and a great little spot for swimming. Barmouth beach is just over an hours drive away as is Balma lake both of which are perfect swimming spots for young and older children alike. We really can't recommend this accommodation enough, and can't wait to go back, Sue and Jonathan are a credit to the Sykes Brand.

Celebrating my mums 60th in style. The interior throughout was done beautifully and all rooms were spotless not dirt in sight. The beds in all the rooms were very comfy and spacious, which was much appricatied after a day walking in the hills. The owl house is well laid out meaning family can be all together but there is also plenty of room to have a moment of peace (when theres 6 children running around). We loved the extra touches including the built in baby gates at the top and the bottom of the stairs and all the crockery and appliances in the kitchen, the binoculars for some bird watching and the books in the snug. We also found the sensor lights extremly handy in the night for the children. The heart of the building for us was the dining room where a stunning dining table and chairs was the perfect spot to take in the incredible view, it took my breath away every morning. The children loved feeding the horse and putting the ducks to bed and the bunk room which was perfect for 4 children with a handy night light. the tree house was also an added bonus which the children and adults enjoyed. We cannot thank Sue enough for her warm, welcoming hospitality. We cannot wait to visit again next year for my birthday. See you soon x

My favourite thing about Owl House was the top bed room with the Velux window where I could watch the stars whilst laid in bed. We also spent time visiting the lakes and waterfalls in the surrounding area. Owl House is maintained to a very high standard and you can tell that Sue takes a lot of pride and care in the place. There aren't many places that I would visit more than once but this is definitely on the list of places to go back to. The beds are also some of the comfiest I have ever stayed in. We have come back with a shopping list of things to buy for our own home we like the place so much. We hope to see Sue again soon.
