• "We had an excellent stay as a large family to celebrate our mums 70 birthday at Castell courtyard."

  A beautiful barb conversion with peaceful scenery. Helen was very accommodating and provided us with fantastic catering last minute as our original caterer cancelled on us. Helen used locally sourced produce for the meals and the desserts were delicious. Castell courtyard has beautiful surroundings and the accommodation has everything you need. The furniture and fittings are all of top quality and the attention to detail was fantastic. We had a great visit paddle boarding on Lake Vrynwy and visited the waterfall and local village pub for a roast. Everything about our stay at Castell courtyard was perfect and we would highly recommend.

• "The holiday was wonderful."

  3 families from 15 months to 83 years. Plenty of space for all. This is by far the best holiday house we have stayed in for its comfort, facilities and spaces (and we have stayed in many over the years!) Helen provided us with a beautiful meal on 2 occasions. Both buffet and sit down family meal on Saturday evening. The food was excellent, easily as good, if not better than any restaurant, and such a treat for us, a proper holiday rest. Beautiful surroundings and walks from the accommodation. Plenty to see and do around about. Would thoroughly recommend both the holiday house and the area. Just what we all needed. Thank you Helen and all her family.

• "The property is absolutely beautiful."

  As soon as you walked in the front door it was WOW. There was everything you could possibly want for your stay away, it was home from home. We also booked a range of meals from Helen for the Saturday night to celebrate Mum’s 80th birthday, they were also 5 star. Our party consisted of 15 adults and one child. • "Castell Courtyard is a wonderful place in a wonderful location."

  The property is extremely nice and probably the best Sykes Cottages property we have ever stayed in and that is quite a few now over the years. Castell Courtyard was very welcoming, clean and warm especially with the log fires burning. An ideal base for setting out from to see the surrounding area. The building being old converted barns has lots of character and the facilities are top notch with us as a party of 19 not requiring or running short of anything. The owners are really friendly and have a very happy cat who comes calling along with the ability to collect eggs from their chickens does make it feel like home. Overall Perfect.

• "The grounds and property are stunning."

  We had the most amazing time. All the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen/dining hall was a great place to convene, the facilities are brilliant. Then there’s the hot tub which is huge, In a lovely spot to take in the fantastic view. We would love to stay here again. We went as a big group of friends in our 30s and it was perfect but could happily come back with family and children.

  The two sitting areas and tvs were a bonus for a mixed family group. Every room, especially the bedrooms, was comfortable and stylishly presented. The kitchen had everything we needed - even 2 dishwashers! The hot tub and barbecue were well used by us and we appreciated a safe enclosed garden for the younger ones.We stayed here as a family group to celebrate my 70th birthday. Everyone ranging in age from 20 months upwards had a wonderful time. We would book again. The recommended caterer served a delicious meal. The butcher in the village sells fabulous barbecue meats etc

  Big kitchen / dining area with everything provided, including 2 dishwashers and 2 refrigerators - two sinks rather than just one would have been better and this is the only negative comment. Very good WiFi. Excellent and large hot tub, which was very popular. Beautiful surroundings and lovely Lake Bala not too far away.

• "Our second visit to Castell Courtyard, as enjoyable as our previous visit in February 2019."

  The property is magnificent, providing space and comfort for our large family group which ranged from 3 months to 60+ years. Helen and Aled are on hand to promptly deal with any issues ... not that there are many. Aled drove to his brother's one evening, to replace an empty BBQ gas cannister. Our only regret is that an increasing number of partners and babies will probably mean that we will outgrow the capacity of 24 beds in coming years.

• "Excellent property for a large family gathering."

  The layout meant that our five family groups could each have their own 'private' sleeping areas which worked out very well. In fact all the inside and outside areas are excellent for either everyone joining together or for having some personal space when needed. We had booked in March 2019, intending to holiday in May 2020 so after having to postpone twice we eventually made it this year! Well worth the wait, although sadly some family members were unable to come in the end. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful, answering all our many upfront queries! We would also recommend the caterer - wonderful food. All in all we cannot recommend Castell Courtyard highly enough. Definitely five stars plus. Thank you Helen and Aled

• "Just WOW! We booked this cottage for 24 ladies for a hen weekend and it could not have been any better!"

  From the initial help we had from Sykes making sure we found the right property, to the pre-arrival help from the owner (who is the most loveliest of ladies!) to our arrival and full enjoyment of the house all weekend. The house was immaculate, maintained to the highest of standards and complete with only high spec fixtures and fittings, it just had it all! Including the biggest hot tub we’ve ever been in. Plus the flowers and fizz were such a lovely touch and added bonus. We’re already discussing our return trip and cannot wait to rebook! Thank you all for the best weekend, good memories forever!

• "What a fabulous place."

  The venue was very clean, the decorative order was excellent, the quality of the kitchen equipment, furniture, crockery, cutlery etc first rate. Bedrooms were proper doubles, with crisp clean bedding. For larger groups and bigger family gatherings, this is an ideal property which can comfortably accommodate all guests. Can highly recommend this for your holiday stay or celebration.

• "I was looking forward to celebrating my 70th birthday with my family, and Castell Courtyard did not disappoint."

  The standard of furniture, fittings, hot tub, linen and furnishings were of a high standard, and the beds were so comfortable. When we arrived the house was spotless, with beautiful flowers and 2 bottles of fizz for my celebrations. The owners were approachable and friendly, and any queries were dealt with immediately. The views and walks are spectacular, and so peaceful, if you are looking for luxury, quiet and tranquility Castell Courtyard is for you.

• "The property is excellent and our group of 22 had an great time."

  The hosts were very helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and there was adequate room for people to congegrate or do their own thing, without falling over each other. The wifi was down but that was not the host's fault. That did cause some problems for the younger members in the crowd. We had booked the property 2 years back and were due to go in 2020. When the pandemic hit and we were trying to defer the date, it was really hard to get in touch with or get a response from Sykes. This could certainly have been much better. We know there was uncertainty, but not responding to us is not acceptable.

  !! The cleanliness is superb, the beds are so comfortable and the layout of the house allows the different groups to congregate in separate areas but still be connected. The owners have provided everything you need to make it a real home from home, its a really relaxing house and the hot tub provides that little extra luxury. It's a lovely walk down to The Railway pub but it's a hard slog back up the hill. A great house for a large group and we've booked it again for the 5th time.

  There isn’t anything negative to say about this home. Our group ranged from age 10-65, there was plenty of space to be together and to also have a bit of quiet time. The decor is beautiful in all the rooms. The addition of feeding lambs and seeing new calf added to the fun for the children and adults.

  The house is extremely homely which makes you feel at ease from the moment you get there. The location is great, so quiet, with great views. We had 4 generations of family stay and not one had a bad word to say or said the house should have had something else which is rare. The set up really helped everyone feel at ease and also communicate freely. really couldn't have asked for a better place. It's very clean, the people who run it are great, we arrived a little earlier with 2 young children and even though we interrupted their cleaning, they quiet quickly set us up in the waiting room and made us feel very welcome.

  It is a lovely house and suits our large family very well. Beautifully decorated and equipped, with Prosecco on chill! The hot tub is a bonus and our weather was so good that we ate outside on several days. The owners live next door in the farm and are helpful but never intrusive. Castell Courtyard is set in rolling hills with walks from the driveway. It takes a while to get used to the single lane roads but the setting is stunning.

  The area was beautiful and peaceful and the cottage done to an extremely high standard and the owners should be really proud of their development. I don’t think any large group staying here would be unhappy with the accomodation. Was a slight drive every day to get to places we wanted to go however the local scenery is so beautiful you don’t mind so much. Thanks you very much for a lovely stay. Only 2 points I would make although the beds were comfortable a number of guests found them a bit hard maybe some softening mattered toppers or something would help with a better quality of sleep but it was only a minor point. Also I really wish we could have brought our dog it’s a real struggle to find a large cottage that allows us to bring a dog she would have loved it there.

  We needed a luxury cottage which would sleep 22 and this is exactly what we got. The owners were really welcoming and have thought of everything. The rooms were modern and really high spec, each person got here own individual bath and hand towel which matched the colour of the room they were staying in. The hot tub was fantastic and quite easily fit 12 of us in comfortably. I couldn't recommend this property more for people looking for a high quality stay In a beautiful place. You will not get more for your money anywhere else.

  We arrived to two bottles of Prosseco and a beautiful vase of flowers (lovely touch). The house is amazing, comfortable and practical and all our guests were impressed. I have already sent a message to the owner to let her know how much we enjoyed our stay and to thank her. If I were to make any suggestions it would be to have an emergency supply of loo roll!! and maybe a list of 'whats on' near by for example we went horse riding, and golfing and hired cycles to cycle around lake Vyrnwy - all thoroughly enjoyable. We also booked Sunday lunch at the local pub 'Plough Inn' on Sunday and meal was excellent. I couldn't have picked a better place, excellent value for money.

• "The accommodation and furnishings are of a very high standard."

  Clean and extremely tidy on arrival. The owners have thought about every little item in the whole property. The kitchen, plenty of glasses, cutlery, mugs and utensils the only item we were not able to locate was a potato masher but we improvised! Castell Courtyard was like being at home but with extra guests for a whole week, who also thoroughly enjoyed this amazing property. Only negative (sorry) is that if you want to go anywhere you really do have to drive. We found that the 1.5 mile walk to the village along the country roads wasn't safe with such a large group and children - this was due to the speed of traffic on a single track road. As a large group staying at this property we had a fantastic week and the children had lots of fun playing hide and seek. Shame we were to early to see any lambs. Thank you Castell Courtyard you have made this a very special birthday celebration for myself, family and friends.

• "Castell Courtyard is an amazing barn."

  The owners are extremely helpful and attentive. 8 years we have been away together as a group of 16/18 ladies and this was by far the best.

• "Lovely property, lovely location, lovely and helpful hosts, lovely weekend."

  The whole party could not rate this property highly enough, in fact the children wanted to live there all together and not go home. It'll be lovely to stay longer and investigate the area further :) Just one word of caution...there are no local takeaways that deliver so make sure you go stocked up or have a designated driver.
