  • "View Cottage had everything I look for, remote, peaceful and quiet."

It's not easy finding places like this, especially with carpets and a large TV! Nice warm house, didn't really need to use the wood burner in the living room, only tried it one night while I was there. Very generous welcome items on arrival, including prosecco and a lovely home made cake. I'd definitely book again same time next year if it's available, and I plan on staying home in Wales again.

The cottage is very well equipped, everything you could need for your break, and decorated to a high standard.. The bed was super comfy, and the cottage is very spacious inside and out, with a lovey wood burner after a long walk in the surrounding area. The views are magnificent from the cottage! And the owner was extremely kind and helpful. Lots of pretty nearby towns and villages to explore and plenty of walks with the dog. If you book this cottage you will not be disappointed!!! I shall definitely want to return time and time again.

Thank you for the generous welcome basket, particularly your wife’s homemade cake, excellent! With the nature reserve behind the cottage, walk to the village, great canal side walks once in village too. Would definitely return, highly recommend.

  • "Had an absolutely lovely week at View Cottage."

The view really is a joy to wake up to and admire from the terrace. Even when the weather wasn't great it didn't affect the enjoyment when the environment is so lovely. Our children loved walking up to Llanynymech Rocks and discovering the route from there down to the Heritage Area in the village. The house itself was so well equipped and comfortable. The welcome package with the amazing cake made a wonderful addition to the start of the week as well! Lots of lovely places to visit in the area. We went to Powis Castle, Chirk Castle, Lake Vrnwy (where you can hire canoes), Bala lake, Betws-y-Coed for the forest coaster and Llangollen for the pretty town, Horseshoe falls and walk on the aqueduct. Huge thank you to Geraint and Laura for a lovely week's holiday. We'll be back!

  • "Fabulous house and very well equipped."

Comfortable, warm and homely. Geraint was very helpful and left a great supply of wood for the multi burner. It was the wettest conditions the area had experienced in years but we were able to get out. Hoffman Kiln worth a visit as is the quarry behind the house. Two small points. It was a shame the Rayburn wasn’t working as we were looking forward to its warmth and lighting in the kitchen could be brighter. Overall a very good week

As the name of the cottage suggests, the view is magnificent. The cottage has all you might want for a relaxed and comfortable stay. The kitchen is supplied with everything you possibly need for cooking, baking, roasting in the Rayburn and such. The beds are comfy and again, the view from the bedrooms is so great to wake up with. A nice dog walk and other walks are available from your door step. Many things to see and do in the area, although you will definitely need a car. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We will surely come again. Thanks to Gerait and family, who work hard to maintain high standards in this cottage. Cheers Robert, Marja, Sytse and Border Collie Flora.

The views are stunning! The house is so clean with everything you could ever want or need in it and Geraint the owner was so attentive and helpful. We went to Bounce Below, an underground cavern bouncing extravaganza, horse riding nearby (which was also amazing as the instructors were so helpful) and visits to Powis Castle, Oswestry and Welshpool. Wish we had had more time as so much to see and do here. All in all an excellent half term holiday.

We were two couples sharing property so the only way it could have been improved would have been to install an extra toilet ! The steep drive and turn up to the house might be difficult for some vehicles although it didn’t cause us any problems. The house was warm , well equipped and in an excellent location for wildlife , walking and historic houses . A relaxing break , a real home from home. If we return to the area we would definitely try and stay here again.

About the location

LLANYMYNECH

Llandrinio 4.3 miles. Owestry 7 miles

Llanymynech is a village straddling the border between Montgomeryshire/Powys, Wales, and Shropshire, England, about nine miles north of the Welsh town of Welshpool. The village is on the banks of the river Vyrnwy, and the Montgomery Canal passes through it. The border runs for the most part down the centre of the village's main street, with the eastern half of the village in England and the western half in Wales. Bound by the River Vyrnwy to the south and enormous limestone cliffs to the north. The cliffs are the quarried face of Llanymynech Hill, and the views from the top are magnificent. Approximately 17 miles away is the historic town of Shrewsbury, certainly worth a visit all year round.
