  • "Loved the house and venue and the kids loved the football pitch sized lawn and grounds."

Slightly old fashioned but warm and cozy with a somewhat bizarre lay out . The last house we rented from you had an advertised but totally useless piano. While Plas Gwynfryn has an in tune Bechstein which was much appreciated why not mention it? Luckily a late arrival brought some music Need more toilet rolls 2 per room with 9 adults and 5 children is Not enough! Area is great and Victoria Inn - local pub got 5 stars

  • "We’re a family of 10 that played in Plas Gwynfryn on from the 8th to 15th September!"

We had an amazing time both in the house and the local area! There’s so much to do in the house! So much space to entertain yourselves, and hidden areas if you want 5 minutes to yourself. The kitchen is well stocked, it has everything you could possible need for baking, cooking and preparing! HEADS UP! THE AGA IS ALWAYS ON AND HOT! If you’re in the bedroom above the kitchen it does get very warm in there. The bathrooms were all clean and to a high standard, the beds aren’t the most comfortable mattresses in the world, they’re quite soft! The grounds the house sits on are beautiful, again so many hidden features, we didn’t find the pond until the third day. The lawns are perfect for outdoor family games, we played king cub for hours it was amazing! If you’re into spooky stuff, this is definitely a great house to go to, certain bumps, bangs and scuffs that can’t be explained most certainly happened. Things seem to be in a different place to where you remember leaving them. We had a few friends along the way, spiders and mice came to say hello a few times but this wasn’t a major problem and is expected with grounds like the ones that surround Plas Gwynfryn! Outings: we’d recommend a trip to the waterfalls about 5/10 minute drive away, do the blue walk and see the sights it’s beautiful, catch the train up snowdon (or walk if you’re able). One of the best roast dinners we’ve eaten was at Hafan Artro! Take a drive to Porthmadog - they have a great escape room if that’s your thing! Final note is to Caroline, the manager who looks after the house, she’s wonderful, no problem or question to big, she’s always on hand to rush in and save the day and help anyway she can!

  • "Plas Gwynfryn is a fabulous spacious property with loads of character and huge well kept grounds."

Caroline the owner was very helpful and responsive. We did have an issue when an appliance broke down but Caroline was quickly on hand and provided an alternative to stop the holiday being spoiled. The house is very tastefully and period correctly decorated with good quality fitments. The only minor quibble was the sofas in the main lounge were very saggy and could have done with a good servicing. The kitchen was really well equipped with lots of utensils and cutlery. This is something I have had issue with at other large properties but not here. Beware that a security deposit is required directly to the owner rather than a hold on your credit card via Booking.com (despite booking.com sending me email opposite to this, this is a booking.com issue rather than with the owner). There was a large party of us plus a big dog and we never felt cramped. The grounds were just superb for the kids (and the big kids) to play in. Overall very happy to recommend this property.

The house and the garden are fantastic and we could enjoy the tranquility of this place. We were 17 people between the ages of 1.5 and 63 and had to look for each other in the house or garden from time to time. So we had enough space. A heartfelt thank you to Caroline and we hope to be able to enjoy another year's holiday in this wonderful place.

  • "A spacious, functional and interesting house set in the most beautiful grounds."

Walking distance from the house to the village and pubs and also paths to many short walks. The area is gorgeous with beaches, mountains and castles. We were a group of twelve with many keen walkers amongst us and can recommend The Coastal Path, The Waterfalls walk as well as Cader Idris for the more adventurous. The weather was mixed but a day spent at Plas Gwynfryn reading or playing games is no hardship and usually the sun came out at some point and then it was games on the lawns or perhaps an evening stroll. It was the first time we had all been together since 2019 and there were 12 of us, all different ages and from Liverpool, Kent, Wolverhampton and Ireland. The house is beautifully furnished and feels peaceful and homely. One of my teenage grandson's said that he really liked the feeling of space both inside the house and in the garden, a feeling which we all appreciated as you can always find a space to escape to if needed. We are a family which loves to cook and were delighted with the kitchen which is very well laid out and equipped to cater for large groups. (It is always disappointing to arrive at a cottage to find milk pan sized saucepans!). One small point to note - it would be good to put in the summary that there is a full sized fridge and a handy undercounter freezer as this would have helped us in planning what to take. The views from the house are absolutely stunning. The gardens are magnificent, beautifully maintained and can be enjoyed from the veranda even on rainy days.. Caroline the owner is on hand if you need her and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Caroline. And on a final note it is the perfect house for a game of hide and seek!

The beds were very comfortable and the bedding of excellent quality. The absolute bonus for us was the magnificent extended gardens, a total joy for our 7 Grandchildren to explore and be safe in, having endless adventures! All shops, pubs and restaurants were within easy access. Needless to say all the surrounding beaches were a joy for us all, so varied and something for everyone. Caroline, the owner was on hand at all time with any enquiries. We certainly had a very happy memorable time at a special property in a glorious corner of beautiful North Wales Coast.

It was the perfect size for the whole family (13 of us - with ranging ages from 25 - 82) to relax and not feel overcrowded. We booked it to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday which was a surprise (he was so overwhelmed by everyone being there and in a such amazing setting). The house felt really comfortable and homely, you can tell that a lot of time and care has been put into the upkeep. There we're lots of nice little touches, logs and kindling to use for the log burners, sky tv, and a it was very kind of the hosts to provide us with some provisions. The grounds are stunning, we enjoyed exploring them and the location is perfect, surrounded by mountains and not far (walking distance) from shops and a pub. We received a warm welcome from Christine and Paddy who really took the time to show us around. Caroline was also fantastic, always just a text away and was very helpful. • "There was initial confusion about the extra £250 Good Housekeeping Bond."

The property was large, for 18 people: the dishwasher broke halfway through the week and the frig leaked throughout the week and we had no control over the heating. The dishwasher was not fixed and the compensation we received was two bottles of wine, a wheelbarrow full of logs, additional tea towels, a bottle of fairy liquid, two sponges and several apologies. It did not seem to add up. It was also advertised that there was a possibility of outside catering at the property and we were then quoted £45 head for a 3 course meal. When I mentioned that I found that a bit pricey but was interested in other options the outside caterers let me know that they were no longer available. Brilliant location, lovely house and gardens and great pub, Ty Mawr, nearby. We had a great time!

Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry you felt there was some confusion regarding paying the good housekeeping bond before your stay, we will endeavour to make this a simpler process moving forward. Unfortunately, the dishwasher needed a new part which was ordered but did not arrive in time to be fixed during your stay; to help with this, we provided you with the additional cleaning equipment and some wine for your inconvenience, apologies if you felt this was not the correct way to deal with your issue. The fridge appears to be working fine, however, it can leak if it is overcrowded inside due to condensation with the air not being able to circulate. Regarding the caterers, we cannot amend the pricing they provide you with and they do need notice in order to organise something for you; we're very sorry they could not arrange something for you at late notice, had we been aware of this, we would have happily provided you with further numbers for alternative caterers. We are very glad to hear you enjoyed the location, the house itself and the gardens and are very pleased you had a lovely stay overall. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know your feedback, it is always helpful for us to continually improve our standards. Property Owner

The location is ideal, nestled in the most beautiful landscaped gardens and providing easy access to the Snowdonia National Park or if inclined the beautiful beaches of Harlech and others. The town of Llanbedr is in easy walking distance and provides a great pub, a number of very nice restaurants and a little village shop. There were 12 of us and a couple of dogs, the dogs could safely roam the gardens sniffing out rabbits and other wonders, whilst we played croquet and the youngsters went to the town or walking in the ‘sunshine’ !!. No downside to this place we felt well looked after by the owner, gardener, caterers and cake maker (my wife’s birthday). I think we all shed a tear when we left and will certainly return.

The grounds are spectacular, our children from 4yrs to 11 had a great time adventuring around the garden and the lawns are perfect for a game of rounders! The bedrooms are very comfortable and quite luxurious, the hot water for showers can be a bit temperamental when with a large group, but the bathrooms are all very nice. The downstairs living space is great with a very large but cosy lounge. The kitchen is quite well equipped but it is quite small and quite difficult to navigate when you're cooking for a large group. Overall we had a fantastic stay in North Wales, I would definitely recommend Plas Gwynfryn to friends and family.
