“Lovely cottage and friendly owners.”
Remote and cottagey. Very cosy and old fashioned holiday with a smashing hot tub.
Remote and cottagey. Very cosy and old fashioned holiday with a smashing hot tub.
“The downstairs bedroom is underneath the upstairs bedroom of the adjoining property (on your site as Stables).”
This was not made clear in your listings. The downstairs bedroom could benefit from having ensuite toilet/washbasin which I discussed with the current owner.
“This cottage is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the hills.”
The road from the village is tiny, only room for one car, then your sense of isolation grows as you go up the looooong track to the cottage, with numerous pauses for the sheep to get out of the way. Graig Las is one of 2 cottages on the same site as the owners, who are lovely people, kind and helpful, but do not intrude at all. The cottage has everything you need - we were there for a week and didn't miss anything. The beds are awesome - memory foam, with fluffy feather duvets. It was a great base for exploring, but also just winding down, I could have happily just stayed at the cottage without venturing out. The hot tub was a great way to relax too, and worth the extra money to use it. I miss the sound of the sheep baaing! I'm writing this review back home, sad that I'm not still at Graig Las.
“Beautiful Stone walled barn conversion in picturesque valley”
Not far from Bala or Oswestry only 5 miles from the National Park and Berwyn Mountains. Great place! Kate the owner was helpful. It is very close to the MTB track at Revolution Bike Park and Rhyd y Felin national Downhill mtb track events. Great lounge and kitchen diner area , nice rooms good heating in cold times thick stone walls. faultless will make return visit
“The cottage is in a beautiful location.”
Very clean and very well equipped. Kate and,Alan the owners are lovely and make you feel very welcome. This is our second trip here and it wont be tbe last. Would highly recommend if you like peace and tranquility and stunning views.
“Beautiful Holiday Cottage”
We stayed in Graiglas for 2 nights and was very impressed. The cottage was equipped with everything that we could need. It was very clean and the owners made us very welcome. I would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful cottage / area. It is within easy travelling of Lake Vernwy and great if you want to take bikes, as we did
“Graig Las was wonderful.”
We loved it and will go again. We wanted somewhere beautiful and remote and it was both. Loved the hot tub too. Owner was helpful and friendly. Access is via a long track which wasn't a problem for us because we have a four wheel drive, but otherwise, when conditions are muddy and wet, I guess it could possibly be a little difficult to reach
“The owners were very friendly and helpful.”
Although we never asked for anything they were very close in case of emergency.
Very clean and beautiful. Hot tub was an added bonus. Great hosts helpful if needed but didn't bother you. Great little village with two fab pubs the food was out of this wold, with huge portion sizes. The only down side was the isolation at least a 45 minute walk to the village but that was the only down side, and the track full of pheasants and sheep was quite a drive up to the cottage.
“Absolute fantastic accommodation and location.”
The perfect get away from it all. The walking is perfect follow the stream up the valley to a waterfall. The food in the two local pubs is superb. Small shop within 10 minutes and supermarkets in Oswestury about 30 minutes away. Bala about 30 minutes Bets e cowed about 1hr. The access to the accommodation is through a gate over a small bridge then up through the fields via a single track that is shared with Pheasant and sheep don't worry the sheep will move out of your way just drive at them. They will not move if you stop. If you have a sports car it's not the track for you. But if you have a 4x4 or normal car you will be fine. Would I go back yes I would would I recommend yes I would. Water supply is from a boar hole with a first class filtration system so no issues with drinking the water better than any town water.
“We felt we had struck gold when we arrived at Graig Las, it's a beautiful cottage in a lovely valley and is two miles off the road.”
We could walk the mountains from the cottage. The owners are a lovely warm couple and we spent time sitting chatting to them and learning about the area. My husband and I have been going to Wales every year for 40 years and this is one of our top three cottages.
“Remote and peaceful”
Had a very nice break at the Graig Las cottage with a group of friends. The place is so remote there is no telephone signal - which is a bonus. there is however wifi in the cottage which was good for staying in touch. The owners are very friendly, they live in the same site but its as if they are not there at all, they let you do your own thing but at the same time they are there to offer help and advice. Our van got stuck in the mud and they were very happy to assist and tow us away. thank you guys, you are amazing! i adopt all the other positive comments that have been made by previous reviews. Definitely would recommend this gem of a place.
“away from it all”
beautiful location. the long scenic farm-track adds to the feeling of getting away from it all. welcoming hosts. the owners have managed to build such comfortable place, miles from any village.
It was the best Christmas ever! Fantastic accommodation and owner. The views from the cottage was to die for and we will return again and again!
“The perfect getaway”
Stayed at this cottage for a few days in February/March to get away from the daily house/work/house routine and it was just great, you don’t’ even have mobile reception – added bonus. We were greeted by the owner, who presented us with milk and eggs in the fridge (they were a lifesaver), and were immediately left to our own devices since he told us that we could walk pretty much everywhere. The cottage location, at the end of a narrow lane and a dirt road could not have been better. Being surrounded by forest, river and sheep is one of the most tranquil settings you’ll ever find, with plenty of good local walk routes. Inside, it has a very “home” like felling, with spacious rooms, bathroom and mezzanine with Velux windows, feather duvet, all the crockery and cutlery utensils that you’ll need for self-catering with the wood burning stove adding a special touch.
“great place to stay”
Graig Las far exceeded my expectations. The owners were on-hand if need but left us to it after giving us the necessary information. The veiws from the cottage was breath taking, although the sheep outside the window were a little much for our dogs! there are 2 pubs in the village and dogs were welcome. The food was good and plenty of it. The cottage is ideally located for days out to the beach or Snowdonia to name a few.
This is currently our most favourite place in the UK and we've been to lots of places! Spent Christmas at Graig Las and was tempted to offer to buy it! Amazing location and breath taking scenery. We spent Christmas day driving round the area. Heaven!
“Fantastic rural location, comfortable cottage”
We had a wonderful time a Graig Las. The cottage is picture perfect at the end of a bumpy farm track which has lots of sheep, ducks and pheasants running riot around it! The owners left the loveliest eggs in the world in the frudge for us! The cottage was warm and cosy with a huge woodburner. The bathroom was perfect. So it made the ideal place to unwind after a busy day in nearby Bala or Llanfyllin.
“Absolutely fantastic holiday!”
We enjoyed every second of this holiday. The cottage was just lovely! It was comfortable and felt like home away from home. The views and walks are absolutely gorgeous and we relaxed from the second we got through the door. The owners are thoughtful, kind and friendly and were always ready to help and chat without being intrusive. We cant wait to go again. One of the best value holidays we have ever had. Thank you!
“genuine 'get away from it all'”
From the minute we arrived we were made welcome, the cottage is thoughtfully furnished and equipped and Alan and kate whilst friendly were non obtrusive, no phone or broadband coverage was frankly the nicest thing, a genuine chance to 'get off the wheel' and gather your thoughts and spend quality time with each other, read, eat, play cards etc. Our 2 dogs loved it too and the dog proof garden was ours to enjoy whilst we barbequed our dinner. Will be recommending to friends :)

Llangynog boasts two pubs, both of which serve good food and are perfect to relax in after an exciting day out, plus on the outskirts of the village is a down hill mountain bike centre. There is also an off road motorbike experience, which is set on a 1500 acre site further up the valley which needs to be booked in advance.
