  • "We really enjoyed the warm welcome and thought facilities were excellent!"

It is a very peaceful location with lovely views, and the pretty little garden was lovely, and very secure for our dog. It is quite an old property, so care needs to be taken. The heating system was also very good!

  • "Absolutely stunning!"

It's only letting me click on 4 stars for this review which is a shame as it deserves a full 5 stars. Clean, cosy & very homely, set in a beautiful location, we were greeted warmly. Very thoughtful touches like Welsh cakes & fresh milk along with tea, coffe & sugar, fresh daffodils plus a full log basket & coal scuttle, I cannot praise Mair & Alan highly enough on their beautiful holiday cottage. The booklet provided information on lots of local walks, all in spectacular scenery as well as offering advice on local eateries and places of interest. The enclosed garden is beautifully peaceful & a lovely spot to enjoy a bit of sun & birdsong. Absolutely superb, 10/10. Thank you for a lovely little break, I'm already looking forward to my next visit

  • "The cottage suited us so well, especially so as we have 2 dogs."

It was warm and comfortable, the enclosed rear garden perfect for the dogs. Right from our arrival, greeted with welsh cakes and milk, through a very cold week, where we loved the wood burner stove each evening, the owners had provided everything we needed. With on site parking we were able to feel safe and secure in the lovely country setting, with such easy access to wonderful walks and scenery. A great holiday where we ‘recharged our batteries’.

Lots of things to do for the dogs. Local beaches and towns just a short drive away. Hosts were lovely and friendly. Enclosed garden was perfect for dogs and dining al fresco. Would highly recommend and already planning a return trip here!

  • "Warmly welcomed on arrival by both Mair and Alan."

They had left us fresh milk, Welsh cakes, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing powder and plenty of fuel for the fire. The supply of all these basics is a great help to settle in quickly. The dogs were totally secure in both rear and front gardens so we could relax and let them wander about whilst we unpacked the car. Two friends stayed with us the first 2 nights and they found the adult bunks very comfortable as we did the double bed. The living room is like a pub lounge: very cosy, but, because we were staying in September during Covid19 and the evenings were drawing in, we had to spend lots of time on the lounge furniture which could be more comfortable. We’re not young and would’ve liked a greater level of comfort in the sofa and easy chairs. That was the only negative and, had we been able to go out more, we wouldn’t have noticed it.

  • "Gorrig Cottage is a lovely, cosy cottage set in Gorrig, just outside of Llandysul."

On arrival, we were met by Mair and Alan (the owners who live next door, helpfully!) and told that there was a pint of milk in the fridge, coffee and tea in the cupboards and even Welsh cakes on the kitchen worktop! Mair and Alan were very helpful when the washing machine broke down; offering to do our washing for us. They even gave advice when we found a poorly bat under the gate! Washing up liquid, washing up gloves, dishwasher tablets and recycling/bin bags were all provided. We had lots of fun swimming outdoors during our stay and would highly recommend both this cottage and the area as a place to go on holiday.

  • "The cottage was set in beautiful setting near to but not in the village offering privacy and quiet."

The owners, Alan and Mair were just as friendly and welcoming as the cottage it's self, as were the locals from the village. I proved to be a good central base for exploring from cardigan up to Aberystwyth and inland too. highlights were the beach at poppit sands, cardigan and the red kite feeding centre, bwlch nant yr arian forest, Aberystwyth. lots of good walking for our digs too. weather was awful but it was lovely to cosy up next to the log burner in the cottage after our daily excursions. will definitely be going back to explore some more, hopefully with better weather.

  • "Cottage felt damp and in need of modernization."

The cleanliness of the cottage should be a priority which it certainly was not. Several very noisy barking dogs which is totally unacceptable when you go for a relaxing holiday break. Me and my family left a day earlier which spoilt our holiday. I would not recommend this cottage. I would be very uneasy with booking through yourselves again. ☹️☹️☹️

Garden is totally dog secure which means you can let them out without having to watch them all the time. Excellent location so that beaches and other facilities are within striking distance.

  • "I contacted Sykes to establish if garden was shared as I have a very timid dog."

They asked owner who said no...great news. Despite this ,on arrival and all hours of the day and night we were kept awake by three near constantly barking dogs from next door. My dog wouldn’t go into the garden. We left a day early. Owner not surprised when I said about it and agreed that they could be ‘yappy’. I realise this is not the owners fault but ,in my opinion, she should of said before taking the money, esp as I had said about my nervous dog. Think carefully before booking this property.
