The property

Enjoying a lovely location in the small village of Penybontfawr is this detached stone cottage, Rhoslan, sleeping four guests and providing homely accommodation in North Wales.

Resting near the village of Llanrhaeadr-Ym-Mochnant and the famous waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr, along with being within easy reach of Lake Vrynwy and the Snowdonia National Park, Rhoslan is a fabulous base for your adventures in North Wales.

Step inside and be welcomed into the traditional dining room, with a dining table and chairs for four on top of the flagstone flooring, you can gather for evening meals here and feel the warmth from the woodburning stove lying within the imposing exposed stone inglenook.

Discover a lovely sitting room in the next room with an attractive blue sofa and armchair offering a snug location to wind down before the TV beneath the rustic ceiling beams, with light coming in from the deep set cottage windows.

Take two steps up to the kitchen and discover a wonderfully equipped space complete with all the essential appliances, along with a dishwasher and a washer/dryer to make your holiday a breeze.

Head up the stair to the first floor and up two steps again into the spacious bathroom which is home to a bath with an overhead shower, along with a heated towel rail to keep you warm out of the shower.

Retire to one of the two excellent bedrooms, choosing from either the double bedroom which boasts a walk-in wardrobe, or the bunk room with bunk beds suitable for adults.

A short stroll will bring you to the local pub, The Railway Inn, while there is also a local convenience shop and Post Office where you can pick up any essentials.

Begin exploring the area by heading to the stunning natural landmark of Pistyll Rhaeadr, the staggeringly large 240 ft waterfall in the midst of scenic woodland, continuing on to follow the Berwyn Ridge Walk taking you to the highest peak in the Berwyns and the highest point in Denbighshire, Cadair Berwyn, as well as Cadair Bronwen, offering the chance to soak up the spectacular Welsh scenery.

Take a trip to Lake Vrynwy for a day of exciting activities with the local activity organiser Bethania Adventure, offering the chance to go kayaking, canoeing, sailing or windsurfing on the picturesque lake, while also providing options for those who prefer dry land too, with abseiling and archery, there's something for everyone!

More fun can be had over at Bala Lake too which rests just inside the Snowdonia National Park where you can find a wealth of excellent walks to follow.

Avid walkers won't want to miss the opportunity to embark on a journey along the historic Offa's Dyke Path, loosely following the Wales/England border and stretching for 177 miles.

The bustling town of Oswestry is worth a visit for its wide array of shops, restaurants and pubs, along with the interesting local history found at Oswestry Town Museum and Cambrian Railway Museum, while just outside the town you can visit the amazing British Ironwork Centre which is host to a great collection of decorative metal work.

Oswestry 15 miles.

The traditional Welsh village of Penybontfawr lies in breathtaking countryside amidst the beautiful Berwyn Mountains and surrounding wooded hills and valleys. Only 2.5 miles away is the popular walking village of Llangynog where you can find the Revolution Mountain Bike Park. The area has a history of lead, silver and slate mining dating back to the 17th century. Today it is a renowned location for climbing, birdwatching, walking and cycling, with famous mountain bike trails near Dolgellau, and a mountain bike centre at Llandegla. Penybontfawr village has its own pub, whilst Llangynog boasts two pubs, both of which serve good food and are perfect to relax in after an exciting day out. Enjoy Lake Bala, a wonderful beauty spot, with excellent fishing, a variety of watersports including white water rafting and a lakeside steam railway, or visit Lake Vyrnwy, which has a RSPB centre, bike hire and a sculpture park. Also within easy reach is Pistyll Rhaedr waterfall, the tallest single drop waterfall in England and Wales. This is a beautiful part of Wales and is perfect for touring the rest of North and Mid Wales and even Shropshire.
