A beautiful home well equipped comfortable and clean in a superb location with amazing views from every window the outside gave the young and old plenty of space for relaxing and outdoor games ending our days lazing in the hot tub the games room was very well used lots of competition here !!!! The cottage is remote however us “townies” loved the space, scenery and quietness we were the noisy ones hope we didn’t disturb you too much thanks for your care and consideration during our stay with you many thanks Mr and Mrs Evans from Pauline Macpherson

We had great weather the children enjoyed the gardens running, playing and we all enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table lots of family fun. It is secluded you won’t get a phone signal but you will have Wi-Fi in the house for Watsapp and FaceTime. Make sure you order your Asda to the house as shops are few and very far between and they close early. We LOVED it and will be back again soon.

Llinos is a fantastic host. Wonderful welcome hamper. The hot tub is superb and the pool table an added bonus that our two grandchildren really enjoyed. Sitting room Wi-Fi does not work upstairs, but they provided another password next to the log fire in the kitchen. The best recommendation I can give it is that we will plan a return visit next year. Thank you, Mr And Mrs Evans.

Thank you for your kind comments. As I explained with the thick walls in the cottage 2 routers are provided so Wi fi will work throughout the house. We look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "We had the most amazing time here!"

The place was beautiful, the house was so perfect we didn't want to leave! It has everything you need and feels cozy yet it is so spacious. The children loved the pool table, the hot tub was amazing and we felt so spoilt having two log burners one in kitchen and one in sitting room. After dinner the girls and I would read on the sofas in the kitchen while the boys play PlayStation (took our own) in the sitting room. We used the hot tub every night, it's massive! We climbed Snowdon on one of the days it's about an hour and a half away, recommend booking peny-pass car park for this. The other days we did paddle boarding at Lake Vyrnwy and lake bala we have our own boards but you can hire them there. The other few days we went for walks around the cottage , it was so beautiful everywhere. There was a big lawn the kids could play football on or a stream to paddle in at the Cottage. Mrs Evans was absolutely wonderful, we had a nightmare getting there due to traffic and Asda arrived before us I was going to cancel it but Mrs Evans said don't worry she would take care of it , she had put all the food away for us, so sweet and made us feel very welcome , the place was so warm, heating came on in morning and in the evening so didn't have to think about the heating atall. Loved the recycling element they have going on there, it's a shame there are laminated notes everywhere but it does make it easier . There was also a wonderful little hamper provided. We made sandwiches to take with us for luch etc and the only thing I missed taking foil or tupperware box to transport it in. We definitely recommend this place we would love to go back. Thank you so much Mr and Mrs Evans for your smiles and the firelighters

Many thanks for your very kind remarks, so glad to help with the groceries especially as you'd had a long journey! We look forward to your return! Property Owner

The owners, Mr & Mrs Williams, were very helpful and friendly without being obtrusive. They also helped us a great deal when we were involved in a traffic incident by letting us use their phone and by being on hand when our car needed to be recovered. The local Can Office Hotel has a friendly restaurant offering well prepared and reasonably priced meals. For those that enjoy scenic drives, the drive from the cottage to Lake Bala via Lake Vyrnwy was a joy. As was lunch on the terrace of Lake Vyrnwy Hotel.

I had spoken to the owners prior to arrival and they were as friendly and accommodating on arrival as they had been via phone and email. I very much appreciated them. contacting me on the morning of our arrival to advise that we would be able to gain access to the cottage an hour early which was great. We were then greeted in person on our arrival and shown around which was a lovely touch. We also later discovered a welcome gift of local produce waiting for us in the fridge which was also much appreciated. The cottage is in a quiet location and had everything we needed for our stay, it was clean and tidy and well maintained. It had plenty of space and lots of beautiful scenery and forest walks on the doorstep. There were also plenty of things to do locally although it took a bit of time to reach them due to the rural location. Fabulous views though so it wasn’t a huge issue for us. Thanks for a great stay Parc Cottage!!

The hot tub was superb and the pool table an added bonus that our two teenagers really enjoyed. The property was very clean and owners Llinos and Hywel were very helpful and friendly. We really appreciated the wonderful welcome hamper on arrival! There is a lovely garden area- paved, a grassed area and also a larger field that you can use. This meant the boys could kick a football with plenty of space. The shower in the en-suite was fantastic (I’m saying this as we have stayed many places where there has been only a dribble!). Asda will deliver here and others have said previously it’s worth booking a delivery as for a big shop as Tesco and Lidl are around a 35 minutes drive to Welshpool. The lake is worth a visit and there are lovely forest walks on the doorstep. The steam train ride is only a 15 minute drive away and was fun. We would not hesitate to return to this cottage and hope to soon. Thank you Llinos and Hywel for a great week!

  • "We visited Parc Cottage in February 2020."

Had originally booked Fri-Mon but decided to change the booking so we could stay for the week with it being half term. Not impressed by extra admin fees I had to pay Sykes, especially as it was only a matter of hours after confirming the booking that we decided to stay for the week. The purpose of the break was for a change of scenery and escape from busy city life. This cottage certainly did that. It is surrounded by an abundance of trees and greenery, which we love and the dog had heaps of fun on his walks too. I was suprised though by how isolated it is, expect a good half an hour drive if you decide to venture out and about. Unfortunately due to the weather.......yes we were lucky enough to time it with storm Dennis! We were pretty much confined to the cottage. Otherwise my children would have loved to have played outside on the grass in the front or jumping over the stream. The garden at the back also has nice enclosed paved area.....my only concern if we came back in the summer would be the steps up to the grassed area. At the edge of the grass it drops back down to the paving which isn't ideal for my 2 year old. A bit of fencing to run along the edge of the grass would sort that out. Communication prior to our visit was excellent, the owner even advised me that ASDA deliver groceries etc. to the cottage. So I was able to order a shop online in advance and got it delivered the same evening we arrived. On arrival....once we knocked on the right door, haha. The lady was very pleasant and welcoming. She took the time to show us around the cottage and showed me how to operate the heating/hot tub and where the recycling/rubbish goes etc. The kitchen is quite modern but still has a cottage feel to it which is nice and it is well equipped. There was even a supply of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cleaning sprays, cloths, laundry capsules and bin bags etc. So no need to bring your own like I did. The only thing I think the kitchen was missing was a large spoon and draining spoon for beans/peas/sweetcorn. The owners had also left some fresh eggs, bread, milk, teas, coffees, jams and a bottle of wine for us which was a lovely. There are 4 bedrooms in total, all were clean and nicely decorated. There was a bath towel and hand towel on each bed ready, aswell as some little chocolates which the kids loved! The master bedroom in particular was exquisite and finished to a high standard. The only comment I would have about the master bedroom was that the mattress was quite hard. This didnt bother my partner at all but I am used to a soft mattress so I made use of the spare duvet for me to lie on. All of the bathrooms were also clean and modern with plenty of toilet rolls and cleaning products. I think the games room and the front living room could do with a little modernisation. The wifi was also quite slow at times. The owners were very helpful and quick to sort any little problems. They even went out of their way to find something for my dog to sleep on after my other half forgot to bring his bed

As others have said, the photos of the outside don’t do it justice, lovely setting. Hot tub very good and checked each day by Mr Evans. He and Mrs Evans were very kind and helpful, lovely to find some supplies left for our arrival. The cottage is very well laid out and furnished, very nice kitchen/dining area, new washing machine, tumble dryer etc. Mrs Evans recommended places to go, one being Derwen Garden Centre, good cafe, centre even has some Show gardens and a maze. Vyrnwy Dam well worth a visit, Port Meirion not too far for a day out. We enjoyed using the pool table although it could do with new green baize as it is quite worn. We would definitely recommend Parc Cottage.

The welcome hamper was lovely with fresh farm eggs and a lovely bottle of wine. it was lovely to relax in the hot tub in the evening once the mats had disappeared. Even though it was advertised as dog friendly dogs weren’t allowed upstairs and we have a very anxious dog and being in a strange place it didn’t really help the situation. Being on the edge of the forest we were plagued by flys. On the morning of our departure the owners were round at half seven to empty the hot tub which made us feel rushed to get out and a little disappointed that we could use it one last time before we left as we didn’t need to be out until ten.

  • "We had a joyous time at Parc Cottage with some wonderful walks around the forests and some others within the vicinity of Lake Vyrnwy."

The owners were very friendly by meeting us upon arrival and showing us around the cottage; instructed us on how to use the hot tub and log burning fires. However, once we had settled into the cottage we quickly came across signs in every room stating, 'Do not do …’ for example; ‘Do not allow dogs upstairs, Do not allow dogs on furniture, Remove engagement rings and other jewellery in the hot tub..’ the list goes on. Also, the number of plates, pans and cutlery were clearly numbered on labels in each draw and cupboard: as if we weren't trusted. These rules didn't need to be placed up around the cottage in numerous locations; maybe contained within one ‘House Instructions’ booklet. Another negative to mention would be the fact that it says on Sykes Cottages website, that this is a ‘dog-friendly’ cottage; not certain dog-friendly rooms. The prospect that dogs can only sleep in the utility room (a small room, which we found to be rather cold) is uncalled for as dogs need to become familiar with new surroundings and often need to know where the rest of the family are sleeping. We do understand the rule that dogs aren't allowed upstairs or on the furniture, but going to the extreme of controlling where the dog can sleep at night is not very comforting. In addition, no dog bowl or dog blankets were available: these have always been provided in other cottages we have stayed in. Furthermore, the internet speed at the cottage was very slow; no access at all during the evening. Overall, we felt on edge ensuring the house rules were met. If we were informed about all of these rules prior to our visit, especially the lack of dog friendly facilities, we would have changed our decision to stay at Parc cottage. Thank You
