  • "We had a great stay at Rockhill Farm Wain house."

The cottage was really comfortable and well equipped. Everything felt fresh and done to a high standard and things like the fire pit and bbq were nice touches. The cottage is near to the lovely village of Clun and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Vaughan was welcoming and helpful and I’m sure we’ll be back. Thanks for a great stay!

  • "Amazing property everything you need for 4 people."

Lovely to have access to the fields beyond and sit and light fire and admire the amazing view. The owner Vaughan was there if you needed him, but otherwise left us alone. There is another cottage on same site but does not impact, plenty of parking for both cottages. Fabulous place for family stays very local to Clun for amenities. Loved our stay thank you Vaughan.

Thank you for the great review Terrie-Anne, we’re glad you all enjoyed your stay with us and the weather was perfect for it! We look forward to welcoming you back to Rockhill Farm in the not too distant future and we wish your granddaughter all the very best of luck with her football scholarship in the USA!! • "Lovely little cottage in a beautiful location, we very much enjoyed our stay."

The cottage was immaculate with everything you might need. Owner was on hand to meet us and was very welcoming. We had our young dog with us which meant we could take advantage of a secure field behind the cottage. There was lots of recall training to be had which was great. Cottage was dog friendly (bed and treats provided) however we really struggled with the 'no dogs on the furniture or upstairs' rule which our pup found difficult to understand. We might suggest some sort of gate to help stop dogs as we had to fashion one using the kitchen bin! We would also recommend making sure this information is communicated before arrival as the Sykes dog checklist just mentions bringing throws for the furniture which we had done. Overall the cottage was lovely and well placed to access the outstanding Shropshire countryside.

Thank you Helen for your positive review. We’re glad Paul, Edie, FIG & you enjoyed your stay with us and got to explore some of the great places on our doorstep. We take on board the point about the dog gate at the bottom of the stairs and will look into this. However, we must always consider all of our guests comfort when they stay with us, therefore we ask that the upstairs space and sofa are kept as a dog free space our caveat would be the sofa if owners have brought throws to use. We will reflect this in the information pages. Vaughan, Eileen & MONTY. Property Owner

  • "Rockhill is a wonderful place."

The owners have created something very special here. The Wainhouse is spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and the whole property is so well thought through. The outside spaces are perfect for a pup and the views so beautiful to wake up to. Vaughan was always so helpful and friendly. The area is so pretty, with plenty of walks and lots of lovely little villages to explore- all within a half hour radius. Book here. You will be so glad you did.

  • "What a great find!"

The Wain House is extremely well equipped for humans and four legged friends! Thoughtful touches by the owners who are on hand should you need them but equally allow you your privacy. Extremely clean, very comfortable beds, amazing shower. Games and books for guests to use. Thoroughly recommend a stay at The Wain House, you won't be disappointed.

About the location

CLUN

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
