  • “Lovely big cottage and a fabulous location but overall a mixed review: Positive - huge, wonderfully clean, well equipped, very quiet location with little traffic (although vistors with children and dogs should be aware that c40t lorries use the top end of the lane to deliver to the nursery which can be really scary when you are walking).”

    ...

Neutral - uncomfortable beds (thankfully we were prepared for this with our own toppers), curtains that did nothing for shutting out the light and no blinds on the velux windows. Minor niggle is that every sound or movement in the house is really amplified so no good for teenagers who stay up late or elderly visitors who need to get up in the night! Negative - nowhere was it published (at least that I could see) that dogs were not permitted upstairs nor on the furniture. Had I known in advance I absolutely would not have booked, completely spoiled the whole holiday for everyone. One final point, the paths down to the lake are steep and at this time of the year treacherous so anyone venturing down especially with dogs, do be careful!

It is well-presented throughout, with a country-cottage feel and spacious rooms welcoming you to share a memorable break together.

Enter via the utility/boot room, where you can store your coats and boots.

The living room wraps itself around one side of the house, with panoramic picture windows filled with wildlife scenes of the surrounding woodland.

Choose from various seating arrangements to relax and take in the tranquil atmosphere.

There is even a pool table tucked around the corner awaiting an afternoon of competitive games.

A small lounge further inside offers the perfect spot for watching TV after an adventure-filled day.

The kitchen is attached to the sociable dining area, with a contemporary set of units presented in a U-shape, integrated with useful appliances including a dishwasher and microwave.

There are three bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom on ground level, followed by a bathroom and a further shower room on ground level.

Outside is a lovely, mature garden with views over woodland and a patio area for soaking up the sun.

It is fully enclosed, making it safe for children and pets.

Journey on a pleasant, off-road walk into the town, with pubs, the National Trust's Powis Castle and Garden and some quality restaurants.

The famous Glen Dowyer walkway is reachable up the no through road, offering a very peaceful location, on the grounds of a well-known, 40-year-old plant nursery.

During summer you can take the family on a lovely cruise along the Montgomery canal and rain or shine, enjoy the Glyndwr's Way Pathway, with many picturesque trails.

A glorious retreat for your next holiday in Wales.
