Beautiful setting, would come again but to bigger lodge with more kitchen amenities husband not too happy with washing dishes! Played some amazing golf course in the area recommended by onsite staff.

  • "The best holiday ever!"

I usually hate the thought of a UK holiday because of the bad weather and preferring tk travel. Because of restrictions we decided to treat ourselves to a particularly nice break and it was even better than I ever could have thought despite a few iffy days of rain! I would recommend the lodges to anyone wanting a nice break away! It was the best stay I've had in years and the owners were so lovely and sorted any problems with no fuss. Thank you everybody at Penllwyn lodges!!!

  • "We were both very disappointed with the whole cleaning of the lodge."

There was dust around the lounge. The cutlery had dried on food, the remote control was very sticky. The TV needs replacing. It's so old and takes over 10 mins for an actual picture to come on. The kitchen was below cleaning standard, especially due to covid. The lodge needs more utensils and some need replaced. The bath mat looked like it hadn't been washed in a while. The bedroom wasn't to bad. The hot tub had grime around the edges where the water has settled. It hasn't had a good clean in-between refilling. We couldn't get into it till 9pm on the first night due to it still heating up. On the whole the lodge could do with a really good spring clean. Cobwebs and dust in many places. And due to Covid I would of thought it would of been above standard. We we're both very disappointed on the whole in the lodge.

  • "We very much enjoyed our first log cabin holiday."

We especially loved the hot tub and the views from it. There are a few things to mention however. The mattress was very uncomfortable and needs replacing. Also the shower pressure isn’t great so a better quality one is needed. Visitors need to remember to bring everyday items with them such as washing up liquid and toilet roll. Which luckily we did. We recommend eating at the Lakeside Golf Club, a 15 minute walk away along the canal, and The Nags Head pub a little further down the road. Both had good food and service. But make sure you book. A lovely holiday overall.

Absolutely stunning location, the cabin was exceptionally clean and tidy and very airy and roomy. The hot tub was an amazing bonus after days travelling around the sights. The reception staff we lovely and it was very easy to find. We are already looking to book this cabin again.

  • "The only disappointment with the cabin was the water pressure of the shower."

Not ideal when you have long hair! Otherwise it was so peaceful, tranquil and the ideal relaxing holiday. Really will miss the hot tub. Tips if you book here, make sure to bring loo roll and soap :)

Set on the edge of a wood with views of the lake it was the perfect place to switch off from the hustle and bustle of life. The lodge was full of character and charm and the hot tub was great! It was nice and clean and the staff were friendly. Good location within reasonable distance of nearby towns, attractions and the odd pub or two. Great stay and would highly recommend!

Great to have the hot tub right outside your door overlooking golf course and lake. Lots of wildlife close by. We fed our resident squirrel every day. Great places to visit close by - Montgomery, a beautiful little Georgian town. The gardens at Glansevern just down the road are amazing. Interesting workhouse museum near Welshpool worth a visit. cycled down the canal path and took the kayak on the canal. Great location, wonderful holiday.

  • "The cabin was lovely and clean, and we enjoyed our stay, apart from on the Saturday late evening the fire alarm started to beep every 20 seconds, as it was 11pm there was no one we could call at this time to sort out, we called someone on the Sunday morning and it was sorted out within a couple of hours, the battery was running out."

Although this is something that probably never or very rarely happens, it did ruin our sleep that night as kept hearing the beeping and we were very tired the next day. I would advice guests are made aware that this could happen and a spare battery kept in the cabin. We were also very disappointed that the travel cot the we had to pay for (not listed as an extra cost, as well as the high chair), was extremely uncomfortable for our toddler who ended up sleeping in our bed, the mattress provided was literally a piece of card with a bit of material on it.
