  • "Lovely little place and surrounding areas."

Very clean, tidy and comfortable inside. Dogs absolutely loved zommies around the garden whilst humans sitting in the hot tub. Lovely to have milk, Welsh cakes and basic cleaning equipment on arrival. It would be really helpful for a sign when coming up and entering the property to help navigate. Would also be useful to have a little welcome guide noting places to visit, recycling facilitates etc.

The frying pan was all scratched, that it was impossible to cook on it. Beds was really comfy.

Had everything you could want and need plus an incredible hot tub to relax in. The secure garden was just perfect for the dog and us. Walking up to the sound of sheep and cows just perfect. The only negative point is the problem of flies which thankfully they do provide a fly paper.

We arrived at hillside view and was greeted by a very helpful staff member cutting the grass , He told us about the local area etc, The shepherds hut was clean and comfortable with absolutely stunning views of the hills , the size of the garden for the dog was more than adequate, the overall site was clean and tidy ,the site was very peaceful day and night and even the builders were very respectful of people being on holiday , only minor grumble was loose kitchen tap and broken window catch in bedroom which was a slight security concern , we will be going back , Regards David

The van and garden were great. Very clean. Milk ,sugar, tea on arrival. The dog came with us and she loved the garden space to run around. The kids and hubby loved the hot tub. And we all thoroughly enjoyed the nature reserve walks and all the Dams in the area. It was wonderful. There is a large tesco about 30 mins or so away to stocked up more cheaply than the local stores. If I was to moan about anything it would be the bunked/sofa I felt the beds were handy but the sofa part for us all to watch TV on an evening was very awkward. And it's mot fun sitting on hard wooden chars qll the tim. There were builders on site but that can't be helped. Over all we would go back as a family and as a couple 110% in future.

With the noise and sighting. I understand your building more but could have been done on lockdown ready for full paying customers. Other than this & having difficulty finding the place after a long drive my children & dog loved it. I think the check in or check out could possibly be earlier & later but we still enjoyed it. The hot tub was gorgeous & cosy stay indoors as we had rain. The view of the sheep while washing up was a treat as I love animals & the open space for our family dog was brilliant. I would recommend to stay here. I think when the building is done it will definitely be the most relaxing place to stay.

A relaxing break in the hot tub was exactly what we wanted! The only downside was the building work going on on site which meant it was very noisy in the day and early morning making it difficult to have a lie in after a late night. But overall we enjoyed our break and would return once the building has been completed.

  • "The Shepards Hut was exactly as advertised, both scenic and splendid."

The cleanliness was impeccable and the owners were friendly and accessible (Not that we needed anything as the Hut was perfect) The only downsides were ones out of anybody's control. The heat generated a lot of flies during the day but being so close to a working farm & livestock, one can expect these things. The hot tub was also rather open and the neighbours and ourselves were constantly seeing each other, which was fine for myself but I know alot of folk go away for the privacy. Again, there are small trees which have been planted in the grass area which will soon achieve complete privacy. The fact that the garden was enclosed was brilliant! We have an 11 month old baby and the thought of being able to plonk her down on the grass and not be on edge was perfect. As stated above, the Hillside Hut was a fantastic place to stay. It made you really feel like you were away from it all. The site was quiet, quaint and exceptionally beautiful. It is a stones throw from Rhyader & Elan Valley and was just the ticket for our young family. Can't express our happiness at it's splendour enough. Will be back some day.

Fantastic location, fantastic views and a great home from home. The perfect holiday for families with dogs and the kids enjoyed it too. Great to see the sun go down and the red kites up ahead while relaxing in the hot tub. Highly recommended. • "Unfortunately our holiday was ruined by the construction site located immediately to the left of our shepherds hut."

we chose this location for the tranquil setting it advertised as we wanted a relaxing holiday on the site as my partner who was ill was not able to go sightseeing. We thought the hot tub and the surrounding views would help us to both relax and unwind. Unfortunately this was not so as there was the constant noise of diggers tractors and heavy vehicles from 8am until 6pm every day. the response we got from Sykes was a refund of £50. bearing in mind while we were away we were offered £40 off our next holiday and on our return I had an email saying the shepherds hut next to ours had been reduced by £80. After I explained this I have had no further contact from Sykes. Inexcusable, unacceptable and totally unprofessional. Our one holiday a year cut short and far from relaxed

The property

A fabulously unique shepherds hut, situated within a small cluster of delightfully individual pods, beautifully designed and surrounded by breath taking scenery across the valley.

The stunning far reaching views and stylish, cosy interior make this ideal for couples to snuggle up on a romantic break but also has a unique offering of being able to accommodate small families, perfect as a base to head off into the surrounding Cambrian Mountains whilst offering a real retreat to return back to.

The open plan living area provides a comfortable bench sofa where you can relax in front of the TV and a well equipped kitchen and compact dining area, with the sofa converting into an ingenious bunk bed.

The shower room is compact and well designed, like the rest of the hut, to maximise space and provide all the home comforts you need.

The master double room gives this shepherds hut a feeling of space and added luxury with the awe inspiring hillside views.

The shepherds hut is set in a private enclosed garden, where the dog and children can use up any remaining energy at the end of the day, whilst you sit and enjoy a cool drink as the sun goes down or perhaps slip into the enticing hot tub and soak in the views.

The local bustling market town of Rhayader is less than two miles away, where you can sit and enjoy its restaurants and cafes or head off into the Cambrian Mountains and spend a day exploring the Elan Valley, with its imposing Victorian dams and reservoirs.

Enjoy nearby nature reserves or marvel at the ‘dark skies’.
