The ancient village of Whittington is located between the historic border towns of Oswestry, Chirk with its famous castle and gardens and Ellesmere with its nine meres.

Whittington boasts an impressive 12th century castle and moat, two character pubs, which serve food, and a shop, plus legend has it that Dick Whittington and his famous black cat originated from the village.

The local area is ideal for scenic walks and bike rides, especially along the Shropshire Union Canal, and a variety of exciting watersports are available on the nearby River Dee at Llangollen.

Three miles away is old Oswestry, the site of a spectacular Iron Age Hill Fort, while today the town offers many historic buildings and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
