Everything was clean and very tasteful . The views were breathtaking .The place was located miles from other houses .we were surrounded by lush green ; Rolling hills and trees . Oh and lots of sheep . I was in heaven . We took our bikes. The location is a cyclists paradise : the roads for miles around are single traffic paved roads which are empty of traffic bar the odd car every half hour . It is very hilly mind but I have an electric bike.

The Gatehouse

The Gatehouse at Cwm Weeg Gardens is situated at the gateway to the beautifully landscaped gardens and woods of Cwm Weeg, a 24 acre garden centred around a Grade II listed 15th century hall house. It is a recent barn conversion built in stone and wood consisting of a three bed roomed property with two double rooms, one with en suite shower and toilet plus a single room with potential for a double bed if required, and a studio apartment (Gate House Studio) with its own conservatory, kitchenette, balcony and covered outside sitting area under an Awning. The Gatehouse also has a large kitchen/dining area on the ground floor and a spacious first floor sitting room with wonderful views over the garden and valley below, together with a large family bathroom. The studio apartment (Gate House Studio) can be rented separately or together with the main Gate House to accommodate 8 guests. Both the Gate House and Gate House Studio have beautiful views over the gardens and woodland and there are generous terraced areas on which to sit and enjoy the total silence that greets you when you step out of the car. The main house has access to a luxurious hot tub which sits on a very large but sheltered, south facing area of decking from which one has an areal view of the woods and dingle. There is also a spacious patio by the entrance to the main Gate house with evening sun. Surrounding the 2 1/2 acre formal garden at Cwm Weeg are many acres of ancient woodland and wildflower meadows to which holiday guests from the Gate House and Gate House Studio have free access. The Gate House has solid oak flooring throughout, is centrally heated with solar water heating as back up and is very well insulated to contemporary standards. The nearest pub is under two miles away in Dolfor (a lovely evening walk, good pub food) and the nearest town is Newtown, three and a half miles away on the river Severn and has a cinema, a theatre, good restaurants and a vibrant art gallery plus numerous cafes. There is a thriving art and music scene in Mid Wales and Shropshire and the owners of Cwm Weeg will be happy to give details of any exhibitions, concerts etc. for those interested. Half way between Dolfor and Kerry, Cwm Weeg is settled amongst gentle hill pasture land dissected by numerous quiet country lanes inviting to be explored on walks right from the doorstep. There is a village shop in Kerry and Newtown has ample shopping facilities from major food stores. Just under an hour's drive from Cwm Weeg are the mountains of Cadir Idris and the Arrans which one can see from our hill and closer still are the Shropshire hills with the historic towns of Ludlow and Church Stretton only half an hour's drive. Snowdonia National Park is about 2 hours drive. Very close to Dolfor , about 3 miles from Cwm Weeg, is the ancient Kerry Ridgeway. There are numerous castle ruins in the district, most notably Montgomery, Clun, and Dolforwyn, all well worth a visit, and the coast with the extensive sand dunes of Ynis Las to the south and Barmouth to the north are also less than and hour from here. For children and adult enthusiasts alike there are a number of small steam train lines in the area which chug through unspoiled scenery.
