The cottage was great. A wonderful week was had by all.
The cottage was great. A wonderful week was had by all.
“So many things to do within a short drive.”
“Lovely cottage in a lovely location”
“Photos could do with an update things have changed since they were took.”
Table not in garden no bbq and biggest change of all is the new build home which backs onto the property which is there now which is all minor but loved every minute
“Loved the steading, such a peaceful location but close enough to Inverurie if you wanted to venture out or do some shopping.”
Loved the hot tub and the log burner and had such s chilled weekend. Such a comfortable place to stay with so much provided.
“The cottage was the best we've ever had and we've stayed in more than a few over the years.”
The cottage was large, bright and airy, clean with all the facilities anyone could ask for in a 5* hotel. Excellent would recommend this cottage to anyone, whether they be a family or just a couple. The back garden was safe and secure for dogs.
“The cottage is lovely, with an enclosed garden for the dogs, the hot tub is great and there is everything you need.”
Good sized space.
“The location was tremendous for its solitude yet you were only a 10 min drive to the local town (Inverurie) and closer to exploring the local nature (Bennachie).”
The cottage was very spacious, comfortable and accommodating with the bonus of a fine selection of kids DVD's and games.
“This is a fantastic family cottage, owners are lovely and attentive would definitely recommend to anyone.”
“Beautiful cottage in a stunning location.”
The cottage has everything you could possibly want or need, as others have said before the owners have thought of everything.
“Beautiful cottage, well equipped in a peaceful, quiet location.”
Plenty to see within 1/2 hours drive and getting to Aberdeen on the train effortless. Welcome pack appreciated. Sadly couldn't use the hot tub due to a broken shoulder!! Would definitely recommend.
“I was unable to make my booking on line, so contacted you by phone instead.”
The member of staff taking my booking was very helpful and the whole process took less than 10-15 minutes. Our accommodation was first class and the owners (who lived in the adjoining property) were spot on. We’re looking forward to our next Sykes holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to friends and family. Thanks for your help in making our week on the Highlands one to remember. Gary, Gemma & Daniel Rennison
“Brilliant holiday cottage was lovely everything you could of needed was there wonderful place”
“We really enjoyed the cottage.”
It was the perfect location. The hospitality was great. And we had everything we needed in the cottage. We could not have asked for a better experience. I will be sharing about your site in the USA.
“Lovely cottage, very quiet area well situated for visiting lots of Castles .”
“Great accommodation, clean tidy, very comfortable, only a few things let it down, pub in village had just reopened and only on Thursday through to Sunday, didn’t serve food which was disappointing as we had looked forward to walking to the pub to eat out.”
There was a smell in the ensuite shower room, drains, and the hot tub became cloudy and started to smell by Thursday, there was no maintenance carried out on it by the owners, who live next door, that we saw. Setting is lovely and rural with great views, pictures on the internet do not do it justice. My niggles are minor and did not stop our enjoyment of the holiday, one more thing the owners are having a new house built on their adjacent field so there could be construction noise for future holidaymakers. Chickens and pigmy goats are great entertainment! ***OWNERS RESPONSE*** Thank you very much for your feedback. The hot tub is thoroughly cleaned and treated every Saturday during the change over period. It is unusual for this treatment not to last the week but water quality can be affected by lots of things, including make up, moisturisers and sun cream. We don't normally do a mid week check of the hot tub to respect the privacy of our guests, but we always recommend our customers to contact us regarding any issues so that we could resolve it straight away. It is our understanding that the local pub intend to start serving food and increasing opening hours, but this is obviously out with our control.
“The property location and weather were all amazing.”
Hope to return soon
“We have stayed in a number of self catering accommodations over the years but this is the best to date.”
Everything one could ask for well equipped warm and comfortable. We will certainly be back soon
“We have stayed in several cottages over the years, but this was by far the best.”
The personal touches of fresh flowers and fizz were a lovely touch. This cottage had everything you needed and was a real home from home. A great place to relax and explore a lovely part of Scotland. I would 100% recommend this place.
“Fabulous cottage, fabulous stay”
Let me start by saying that this is THE NICEST cottage we have ever had the pleasure of staying in... And we've stayed in a few! From a seamless booking process, with emails every few weeks with information, including what time to arrive and how to gain access to the property, to arriving on the day to a more than pleasant sight. You can tell the owners really have gone out of their way to make sure that they know what anyone should need, when they stay in a cottage. The property was immaculate (a term I rarely use) and wholly inviting. Gorgeous little treats dotted around such as fresh flowers, crisps and a bottle of milk and prosecco chilling in the fridge... Giving you the extra WOW factor. However, it's the property which speaks volumes for itself. A huge master bedroom with en suite, utility room, bathroom, second bedroom with two single beds and an open plan living room/kitchen with everything you'll need. Not to mention two open fires in the property. We were lucky enough to meet the family who own the property and have to say they are a delight. They gave some tips on places to visit in the local area such as Peterhead Prison Museum, Banff, Inverness and Balmoral Castle (for the spring and summer), which we loved. Insch is a quaint little place with a train station to Aberdeen and Inverness. The countryside is simply stunning, where you can't hear a thing. If peace and quiet is what you're looking for, this is your place! Highly recommended. We'll be back!
“The property was immaculate and exceeded all expectations”
“This was first class accommodation, so thrilled with everything that was included.”
gardens were lovely with a great hot tub. great location
Insch 2 miles.
This quite stunning steading conversion is peacefully situated amongst the rolling Aberdeenshire countryside and has beautiful far reaching views.
The Steading is next door to the owner's own home and yet completely private.
Much care and attention to detail has been taken to ensure that this property offers a touch of luxury to visitors who will appreciate the many extras that come with it.
The bright and spacious accommodation has two bedrooms, one a twin room and the master suite benefiting from not just an en-suite shower room but a walk-in wardrobe, a woodburning stove and full glass doors out to the front of the property.
The main living area is a contemporary space with a large sitting area set out around a cosy woodburning stove, a dining area and smart and very well-equipped kitchen.
From the sitting room doors lead out onto a large decked terrace from which there are lovely open views.
The hot tub is well placed to ensure that guests can fully appreciate the stunning scenery whilst relaxing in the lovely hot bubbles.
There is also a barbecue and lots of comfortable seating so guests will really enjoy this outside space.
To the side is a lawned garden where there are swings and a trampoline for children and in fact the whole property is very child friendly.
The sleeping arrangements do offer flexibility as there is a smart sofa bed in the sitting room and also a good folding bed available for use if required.
It may be difficult to leave the luxury of this property but there is a lot to do close by.
Visitors will enjoy a walk up Bennachie, which some say is the most loved hill in Britain, and the many different routes up all ensure great views and exercise!
For golfers Insch has its own special 18 hole course set between the peaks of Bennachie and Dunnideer, with many other courses nearby including Meldrum, Kemnay and Trump.
The granite city of Aberdeen is a 45 minute drive away and a 40 minute train journey, exploring Scotland's third biggest city makes a very interesting day out.
You could try the Whisky Trail and Lecht skiing.
The visitors lucky enough to have booked this cottage will always be in a hurry to return to the sheer comfort that awaits them after a day out exploring.

About the location
Inverurie 11 miles; Huntly 14 miles
Insch is a village in the Garioch region of rural Aberdeenshire and is centrally placed between the larger towns of Huntly, Inverurie and Alford. The village itself offers good local services, with a selection of shops and take away's offering an international cuisine. Insch also boasts its own museum located in the former ticket office of Insch's historic working railway station, which is full of interesting artefacts and everyday stories of how life was lived in this area. The Dunnideer Hill Fort and nearby stone circles are well worth a visit and after a short climb up to the fort, the views over the rolling Aberdeenshire countryside are quite breathtaking. Golfers are well provided for as Insch has its own well established 18-hole course with undulating greens. A wonderful base for a break exploring this beautiful area of Scotland.
