  • "This is a gorgeous, comfortable, well appointed cottage in a rural location."

It is peaceful, with an idyllic garden with barbecue. The kitchen is very well equipped. There is a great welcome pack, delicious cake, toilet rolls, bin bags, dishwasher tabs, hand wash, etc all supplied. Beds are very comfortable. The parking area is a little tricky to manoeuvre into, but otherwise well deserving of 5 stars.

  • "Beautiful place, quiet and so comfortable and well equipped that our stay, from the moment we arrived, was stress free."

The coastal towns are wonderful as are the beaches, we saw, deer and hares and did some bird spotting on our walks from the cottage. I could have happily stayed another week, there’s lots to see, Elgin Cathedral and Portsoy harbour among our favourites. Thank you Alison for such a warm welcome and a lovely holiday. • "We spent a really good week at this excellent property and would thoroughly recommend it."

The owners have created a lovely house and garden full of everything needed for a relaxing holiday. The home baking and wine, with Easter eggs and a soft toy for each of the kids, were very much appreciated. It is in a good location for all the brilliant coastal locations with miles of sandy beaches so plenty to see and do in all directions. We just missed the good weather but will be back again soon to enjoy Thistle Mill in the sunshine.

  • "Absolutely beautiful cottage!"

Spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped with everything you could need and more. The most amazing welcome pack I’ve ever seen, with a freshly baked cake, fresh eggs and even a welcome pack for our dog! Alison and Mick were wonderful hosts, so welcoming and friendly. They really have thought of everything to make a perfect holiday. The garden was great, and the cottage was so cosy, with a lovely log burner. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Thistle Mill Cottage."

We absolutely loved this place, it is a real home from home, with everything you could ever need. Delightful welcome pack, with lovely treats and home baked cake. The owners were very helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome, even our dog had her own welcome pack! Garden is beautiful, with lovely spaces to sit and enjoy. Woodburner would be a lovely feature in winter, though we didn't use as luckily weather was good. Beds comfy and everything spotlessly clean. All in all, couldn't recommend more highly, a beautiful cottage with loads of space, in a wonderful (if slightly remote) location. Five stars from us, even our 10 year old daughter loved it!

From here, discover a quaint snug area, where you can comfort those post-walk soles before finding the sitting room, with a striking woodburning stove takes centre stage.

Another local attraction is Duff House, a Georgian stately home, which houses a range of art work and large grounds, providing great parkland walks.

Here, there is also two spectacular golf courses, Duff House Royal Golf Course and Royal Tarlair Golf Club, so that you can practice your swing, whilst beachcombers can venture to Sunnyside Beach, Hopeman East Beach and Findhorn Beach for some pristine sands and awe-inspiring views.

Other attractions within the area to suit all ages and tastes, includes the Macduff Marine Aquarium, the Museum Of Scottish Lighthouses and the Speyside Cooperage Visitor Centre.
