"We loved our stay at Lily Collie’s."
The owner was very warm and friendly and had paid great attention to the comfort and decor of the cottage. The interior was beautifully coordinated with cool blues and whites and very harmonious natural specimens and small animal prints. The large garden was a bonus and being able to walk from the cottage onto the Speyside Way down to the estuary and Moray Coastline was very special.
-

"We loved our week at Lily Collie's!"
We were using the cottage a base to go to Speyfest in Fochabers but stayed a full week to explore the surrounding Moray Coast area which is beautiful. The cottage was well equipped with a very large garden and lots of walks from the doorstep. It only took us about 40 minutes to walk down the Speyside Way to the Dolphin Visitor Centre on the coast. I would highly recommend both the cottage and the surrounding area for walks, wildlife and amazing views.
-

"Thanks for a lovely stay at Lily Collie’s."
The cottage was lovely and cosy cottage and I hadn’t realised we could access the Speyside Way directly from Bogmoor, which was great to walk over to Speybay and Garmouth.
-
"We had a brilliant time staying at Lily Collie’s over Easter."
It’s a beautiful cottage with everything you need. Great location to go off and explore the delights of Scotland. Thanks so much for making us so welcome and for the yummy chocolate eggs too! We’ll definitely be back
-
"Beautiful cosy cottage in great location."
Cleanliness and attention to detail second to none. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Could not fault this Lovely little cottage and will definitely go back there again. Our new favourite.
-
"The cottage is beautiful, very clean and comfortable, Lindsey and family were lovely and helpful, our only problem was that we’d said our daughter was in a wheelchair and it wasn’t wheelchair friendly, Lindsey helped us move furniture to get the wheelchair in and we managed lifting our daughter around."
We enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend to anyone.

"A fantastic cottage, a great garden, great location, we couldn’t have asked for more."

"Lily Collie's Cottage was like a home away from home."
Warm, cosy and welcoming. It was my birthday when I was there, and the owner, Lindsay, left a cake with a candle and a lovely card for me! Very thoughtful and kind. We met due to a minor mishap which she swiftly dealt with and couldn't have been more charming or friendly. The beds were so comfortable, we didn't want to get up, and I will definitely be buying a duck down duvet for ourselves now...SO warm and snuggly! Bogmoor is not far from everywhere you might want to visit...coast or town, but feels as if it's in the middle of nowhere...so quiet and peaceful. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a perfect getaway in the northeast of Scotland. You won't regret it.

"We have had a lovely week at Lily Collie’s."
What a real gem of a cottage! On arrival we met Lindsay who was just lovely. Lindsay had prepped the fire and had the kettle on ready for us after our long journey. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything that we could have possibly needed. A real home from home. Pride really has been taken throughout this cottage and it shows in its presentation. Thank you for the extra touches like including bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee etc meaning that we did not have to rush out. There was even an unexpected pack for our dog. We have been on so many amazing walks, explored within the local area and beyond and yet there was still so much more we could have explored, we didn’t feel ready to come home. There really is plenty to do, such a lovely area to stay and such a lovely cosy cottage to stay in. Having the cottage to come back to and cosying up in front of the fire was a real treat. Feeling very rested and relaxed after our much needed break. Thank you for having us stay at your impeccable cottage.
-
"This is such a lovely cottage-warm and comfy in the winter and has a lovely big garden for the summer evenings."
The village itself is so quiet and peaceful, with just a distant roar of the ocean and the occasional crow breaking the silence. Central to some fantastic small seaside villages and coves as well as the dolphin spotting and northern lights from the local beach. I should also mention the generous host with some extra wee touches that shows she has great pride in Lilys ......and so she should.
-
"I managed to snatch a much needed few days off from work and was looking for somewhere that could give me rest and some ‘headspace’ and this cottage was able to provide warmth , comfort and easy access to walks from the doorstep ."
A lovely cosy well equipped cottage that had everything we needed for our short stay . The owner was lovely and had left some essentials in a welcome pack .. thank you ☺️
-
"Absolutely home from home."
We felt welcomed by all the little extras, flowers in the bedroom, cotton wool etc for your make up, the thoughtful milk eggs & bread as well as tea and coffee enabled us not to have to dash out shopping straight away and the bowls & treats for our dog were a kind gesture. The cottage was well maintained and immaculately clean. There was nothing that hadn’t been carefully considered. The bed and and sofas were super comfortable and the log fire that had already been made ready to light made it difficult to leave the cottage to explore the surrounding area. I truly wish the cottage was closer to us so we could visit more often for a weekend escape

"Excellent place great host"

"We had a week at this cottage in August 2023 with our cat."
The cottage was absolutely lovely, comfortable, extremely clean and the owner was super welcoming (the shortbread cookies, milk, bread and eggs were a lovely touch as was the pet basket!) We had lovely bedding and plenty of towels and the kitchen was fully equipped. We also really enjoyed the huge garden. Thank you very much for making our stay so memorable and we would definitely recommend!
-
"We had a fantastic 10 day stay at the cottage."
The cottage is tastefully decorated and everything you need is provided. Lots of little extras made it feel special. The garden is huge and our dog loved the space. Genuinely one of the best holidays we've had as a family. Thank you Lindsey and Steve.
-
"Lovely cottage, which exceeded our expectations."
..and quickly became our new home! Thank you for the thoughtful welcome pack with lots of lovely fresh food. I loved flicking through the magazines sitting on the patio soaking up the lovely views...and sun! We met lots of friendly neighbours who always stopped to say hallo. I hope to return soon to the lovely Lillie Collie's....thank you!

"Lily Collies cottage stay was fantastic, could not find fault with anything."
The place was immaculately kept, and Lindsay the owner was very hospitable. Upon arrival she brought us fresh bread, milk, eggs, jam and butter. We asked about local amenities and places to visit and as you would expect she was very knowledgeable. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone.
-
"Our stay at Lily’s Collie was perfect, couldn't have asked for anything more."
It was spotlessly clean and in stunning condition. Upon welcome, we were greeted by Lindsay and her mum who were lovely. They showed us around and made us feel very welcome. The amenities were faultless. From the cosy woodburner, to the kitchen and that amazing shower! The garden was even bigger than it looked in pictures and provided the perfect area for our dog to play & run around. Our dog River even got the special treatment with an included dog box, c/w blankets, treats, toys and bowls. We highly recommend this property if you're looking for somewhere to stay to explore Morayshire and surrounding area’s, absolute perfection.
-
"We had a lovely weeks stay at Lily Collies."
The property was warm, comfortable and in an ideal position for exploring east and west, between Inverness and Fraserburgh. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed to make it the perfect place to stay. We hope to stay again sometime. Thank you Lindsay for the much appreciated welcome pack and allowing us to stay in your lovely cottage x

"Lovely cottage in a quiet location with everything you need."
The cottage has been renovated to a high standard with lots of personal touches to make it feel like home. Wood burner was great with plenty of logs provided for cosy nights in, there was also a lovely welcome pack on arrival which was very much appreciated. Great location for exploring the local area, with lovely country walks on the doorstep. Thank you Lindsay for being the perfect host, we hope to return again soon.
Hi Andrew and Carol, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. You were perfect guests and we’d love to welcome you back. Thanks, Lindsay Property Owner

"Very very disappointing."
We found the house to be dirty. Crockery and utensils were not properly cleaned and the floor throughout the house was covered in a previous guests hair/pet hair. We were also told to wait an hour after the check in time due to the owner not having time to get the house ready. We left a day early due to appliances not working and the house being cold. After discussing this with the owner, who was difficult to contact, she denied there were any issues with the property. We won’t be returning.
Hi Peter It’s safe to say I was very, very disappointed to read your review. I wish you had agreed to meet with me at the cottage to look at and discuss your issues. I would like to address each of your concerns. ‘We found the house to be dirty’ I can categorically say this was not the case. The guests we had staying over Christmas, just prior to your stay, were extremely courteous and left the cottage in an immaculate state and exceptionally clean and tidy. I take my time to thoroughly clean the cottage after each stay, to my high and exacting standards. This meant a double vacuum prior to your arrival and floors washed. Every surface is dusted, washed and polished to a sparkling finish. ‘Crockery and utensils were not properly cleaned’ Unfortunately I didn’t check the crockery prior to your arrival but I can confirm all utensils were clean. We have a dishwasher that does a very good job. It’s just over one year old and we provide well known, branded detergent tablets. I will endeavour to check crockery from now on to ensure it meets my standards. ‘We were told to wait an hour after check in time’ Unfortunately I advised you at 12.30 that your check in time would unavoidably have to be pushed back by an hour to 4pm. This was due to me having to care for our seriously ill child and our injured pet had to go to the vet. At the time you said this was ok and wished my son a speedy recovery. I’m sorry your check in was delayed. This is something I never like to do but I was unable to prevent this. I’m flexible with our guests and provide earlier check ins/later check outs where possible. I would’ve given you a later check out by way of apology. I also left some NY treats such as sparkling wine, snacks and sweets amongst others that I hoped would help make amends. ‘We left a day early due to appliances not working’ I’m sorry the tumble drier isn’t working. I wasn’t aware of this until after you left. I have sought an engineer to fix it or will have it replaced if this isn’t possible. If the large clothes airer wasn’t sufficient to meet your needs I would’ve happily let you have access to my own personal tumble drier or directed you to a launderette, at my expense. ‘The house being cold’ Our cottage may date from the early 1800’s with nearly 1 meter thick walls to keep the heat in in the winter and to keep it cool in the summer but it’s also been recently renovated. It’s fully kitted out with high performance insulation and electric panel radiators that provide instant heat to your desired temperature. We also have our quality Norwegian wood burning stove. Our shed was devoid of a large amount of seasoned firewood we provide for our guests use following your stay. If this was burned during your stay I’d imagine (and have experienced) the environment to be toasty. Indeed many of our return bookings come off season in the winter months. I doubt they’d like to return to a cold house. ‘The owner was difficult to contact’ Unfortunately due to my parental responsibilities during a period of extreme ill health I was unable to answer my phone when you called. I did return your calls within 20 minutes. You made a number of calls on your last day and indeed in one of your calls you told me that I had great reviews and you were willing to not leave a negative review if I were to provide you with a refund. I felt a little intimidated by this but I didn’t provide you with a refund due to me not entirely agreeing with all the issues you raised with Sykes and myself. I would like to point out there was a number of inconsistencies and some disparity with these. If there are people reading your review Peter, I would ask them to instead focus on all the other glowing reviews we have which include quotes such as ‘spotlessly clean’, ‘attention to detail’, ‘best holiday cottage we have stayed in’, ‘comfortable’, ‘cosy’, ‘communication with the owner was excellent’ etc and ask them to consider these when thinking about booking our cottage for a relaxing and memorable (for all the right reasons!) break. It’s unfortunate your review and scoring has knocked our star place on Sykes website down from a 5 and Perfect. I put a great deal of thought and hard work into ensuring our wee cottage is big on delivering the best holiday accommodation in a noteworthy location. I would like to note that I do appreciate constructive feedback when I feel it’s accurate and would use this to further develop our cottages facilities and my hosting skills. This would benefit all concerned. Regards, Lindsay Property Owner

"Superb cottage for our Xmas break cosy and comfortable the best of everything very very hospitable owner who couldn’t do enough for us."
Left Xmas gifts for us under the Xmas tree, bottle of wine, homemade shortbread and marmalade. The wood burning stove and any amount of logs to burn. We have never been to any other cottage where the host has went out of their way like this. We are Extremely great full and appreciate Lindsay’s hard work and dedication to making our stay one of the best ever. Cleanliness was 100% we had no complaints and left cottage just as we had found it Spick and span. You would not be disappointed in booking a holiday at this cottage. We hope to return soon. From Irene Kenny and Linda
Thank you for the glowing review Irene, Kenny and Linda! It was very kind of you. You were our first guests to spend Christmas at the cottage and I’m glad your stay was great. I wanted you to have a special time. I can’t take credit for the shortbread though…. You wouldn’t get your teeth through mine! It’s the best, melt in your mouth kind from a place you will probably know well… hope to have you guys come stay again. Best wishes, Lindsay x Property Owner

"A beautiful cottage in an ideal location with lovely walks right from the door for our dog."
The garden is large & well kept with a lovely, private seating area . This is the best equipped cottage we have stayed in with everything we could have needed. The communication with the owner was excellent with Lindsay contacting us with directions & key information rather than us having to phone. I wouldn't hesitate to book Lily Collie's cottage again & would highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful stay within easy reach of beautiful beaches & lovely villages. Paula, Steven & Tilly

"An absolutely outstanding holiday cottage, I can't recommend it highly enough."
It's a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area, cosy and welcoming and a great garden. The cottage itself has been finished to a high standard and it was very comfortable. A great cottage for lots of people, whether it be a family of 4, a small group of friends or a couple. We will be returning!

"Lillie's Collie's cottage is a wonderful place to stay, full of character and local history."
The garden is a really nice facility to have, making breakfast/meals outside a joy! It was just wonderful to sit at the bench with a glass of wine in the evenings and gaze out across the fields and hear the distant rumble of the ocean. We actually liked the fact that here were no pubs or shops in the village as it made our stay one of the most quiet and restful of anywhere we've had. Definitely be back!
Hi Andrew We’d love to welcome you back. ‘Haste ye back’ as we say in bonnie Scotland! Best wishes Lindsay Property Owner

"Our stay at Lily Collie’s was wonderful, and we would recommend it to anyone."
The cottage itself has been beautifully renovated, and has everything you need: the welcome pack was a lovely touch. After a day out exploring Moray, the cottage was a lovely place to return to. The garden is huge, and the views over the countryside are great; the highlight was seeing a deer in the garden, nibbling on the bushes! The location of the cottage is perfect - we loved that there were several walks we could do straight from the door, brilliant for our dog. Would we return? Definitely!
Hi Arlene It pleased me so much to hear you had a wonderful stay…. And that the deer was nibbling on the bushes and not the flowers! We look forward to having you guys stay again. Best wishes Lindsay Property Owner

"We had the most fabulous stay at Lily Collie’s."
The cottage was a delight to stay in and so much care and attention has gone in to renovating the cottage to a beautiful standard. It was so cosy with lots of personal touches that made our stay extra special. There were loads of walking recommendations from the host which were fab and the surrounding area makes for a great day out.
-
"Fantastic week at Lily Collie’s."
We could not have had a more relaxing, cosy and comfortable place to stay. Lots of walks with our wee dog who loved it too. Lindsay was very good with comms and she has established a lovely cottage in a very good location to explore Morayshire. We will be back I am sure at some point in the future! Highly recommend as a ‘must stay’ at cottage
-
"Great property done to high standards."
Great welcome pack to start our holiday (shortbread was fantastic) . Lovely area , quiet and peaceful, beautiful walks loads of wildlife. Just excellent
Hi Craig Wish I could say the shortbread was home baked! It’s not made too far from us as we like to shop local and I agree with you in that it’s yummy. We’re glad you enjoyed the countryside and being out amongst nature. It’s definitely a tonic getting outside and exploring what the Moray Coast has to offer. Thanks for the review. All the best Lindsay Property Owner

"Just home from our week's stay at Lily Collie's."
We can't imagine anyone being disappointed with anything at this place. Very tasteful & comfortable cottage. Large private garden not done justice in photos. It's a great space especially if you have your dog with you. Loads of great walks in surrounding area, scenery beautiful and places to explore. Don't usually visit same place twice but I'd love to visit here again. Thanks to host Lindsay for making us feel very welcome here x
Hi Janie It was my pleasure! We hope to have you back for your holidays again soon. Best wishes Lindsay Property Owner
-
"This was a really great cottage and Lindsay made us feel very welcome - the basket of goodies for our dog was a really lovely touch."
The cottage has light and airy living rooms and a large garden with an area for sitting out. It is a good location for exploring the Moray Coast with plenty of good walking nearby. A great place to relax and would definitely come back. Katrina

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lily Collie Cottage - loved the wee touches - welcome pack, and in particular, the dog blanket and treats."
The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog and the cottage was ideally located for dog walks. The cottage is also ideally located for exploring other parts of Morayshire.
-
"Lovely cosy cottage and lots of wee extras provided which made our stay even more enjoyable."
There were even mallows for the hot chocolate and our dog enjoyed his biscuits too. Plenty of logs provided for the wood burner too, which was great as it was quite cold for the first few days of our holiday. Nice walks from the cottage, although we spent most days walking on the beaches as there were a few to choose from which weren’t too far a drive.
-
"We stayed at Lily Collie's over Easter weekend and absolutely loved it."
The owners are so kind and thoughtful towards their guests. The amenities are great, the cottage is warm, comfortable and very clean. When we arrived at our destination, there was a lovely 'welcome pack' including shortbread, hot chocolate, marshmallows, butter, marmalade, milk, bread and fresh eggs. Even the dog had a welcome basket waiting for him with warm blankets, dog bowls and dog biscuits. These things were an unexpected bonus and a very lovely thoughtful touch. We have stayed at many cottages for short breaks and holidays and never had the same kind of welcome anywhere. It was lovely. If that wasn't enough, on Easter Sunday, we had a box of chocolate eggs delivered outside the front door. These gestures are over and above and what makes a holiday very memorable. Highly recommend Lily Collie's. Great place for walking, cycling, sight-seeing, or just relaxing, etc. We loved it.
Hi Wendy The Easter Bunny doesn’t forget about you just because you’re on your holidays ;) thank you for such a fab review and I’m so pleased you loved your stay. Warm wishes Lindsay Property Owner

"A beautiful cosy cottage in a lovely location with everything we needed for us and our dog."
-
"Lovely cottage."
Enclosed garden would have been much better for us. Lots of little extras which were great. Only negative comment to make would be to have larger bath towels, bath sheets would be much better as the towels were small for shower/bath use.
-
"A beautiful cottage!"
Very cosy, well presented with lots of lovely extra little touches. The owner, was very thoughtful and left lots of yummy goodies to get us started and enjoy throughout our stay. This really does set the cottage apart from other places I've stayed. Everything was very comfortable and very well equipped. The log burner was a treat and very easy to use with plenty logs, kindling, matches and firelighters. Again, this was brilliant! The location is also great as plenty of walks to do from the cottage. I would definitely recommend this cottage. It was first class.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay."
The cottage is well equipped, very cosy, and well presented. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property to anybody thinking of staying in the area. The owners were very nice, obliging, and were very helpful. We would definitely like return to this cottage again.
-
"We had the pleasure of being the cottages first guests and we couldn’t have chosen a better location and welcome."
The cottage itself is of the highest standard, cosy, well presented and within easy reach of some fantastic beaches, walks and other things to do. Owners couldn’t have been more helpful in arranging, during and post stay. If you are heading up to Elgin, Fochabers or nearby this would be a great place for a cosy and very comfortable stay. Would highly recommend.
