"I wasn't told the code beforehand for extracting the key ( from the holder outside the cottage ) to get in to the cottage when I arrived and I had to wait until someone appeared to tell me the code."
The one issue I want to mention ( and I have put it in the visitor's book inside ) is the bark, bark, barking of a dog (s) in the early hours in a nearby building. One night it was 2.30a.m. another night 4a.m.

"The Bothy was a fabulous hideaway perfect for just forgetting real life and enjoying some down time."
Excellent location and the views, wildlife just everything was stunning and spectacular.
My husband and I very rarely say that we would go back to any place but we both agreed that we would definately come back to the Bothy.
Edzell is lovely and Bells the butchers just brilliant we went to Bells 3 times while staying. Brechin is a nice town with good amenities.
The holiday was just perfect we couldn't have asked for more. I must just also say the bed was lovely I haven't slept that well in a long time.
Thank you Anna and Sykes Cottages for a very memorable holiday at The Bothy.

"The Bothy is so welcoming, warm and cozy, it’s well equipped and the log burner in the sitting room adds to the character and warmth (logs and kindling supplied) Situated in a remote spot, a few miles along Glen Esk, the views are breathtaking!"
. A few miles further along the Glen and it’s possible to walk in the Cairngorm National Park. We were lucky to have snow so the views and countryside around us was spectacular! Seeing a Golden Eagle just ahead of us made the entire trip worthwhile! Castles are abundant in this area and access to towns very easy. This was an amazing holiday for us, we choose to visit Scotland in January/February each year as the snow makes the landscape so beautiful the roads are excellent and a lot less busy. We highly recommend the Bothy. .... and just wish it was ours!

"This lovely little bothy had everything we would likely need for a holiday."
It felt really homely which we loved, not like some which are simply basic. The bothy makes a great central base for everything anyone could want, go west and you have the wonders of everything the Cairngorms has to offer , go east and you come to some beautiful quiet long empty beaches.

"We had a wonderful holiday at the Bothy."
The location is superb. We arrived in the dark so didn't see the amazing views from the cottage until the next morning - a real wow moment. We had great weather so explored Glen Esk thoroughly in its glorious Autumn colours. A very special place indeed. The cottage is cosy, warm and well-equipped. Quiet and peaceful (apart from the horde of Land rovers arriving on a couple of days to go out hunting). Great place for relaxing, walking and stargazing.

We even saw leaping salmon which is practically on your doorstep in the local river . A truly wonderful time spent in Scotland. The bothy just made it perfect.

"A good scenic location for walks and striking out to the coast, other towns villages within a reasonable radius."
The cottage was clean and instructions for access helpful..
Would help to mention other forms of heating in booking information other than just the log fire. It would have been helpful if the information folder/ tourist leaflets had been more prominent .
We enjoyed our one week stay and would recommend ,but it was unusual not to have met the hosts whilst we were there ,although other communication before and after was good

"Beautiful setting."
Excellent communication ahead of the stay with the owner - very clear directions and responsive to emails. Lots to do in the local area and some really lovely walks. Met some lovely local ladies on a Gin tasting afternoon at Persie's Gin Distillary. Recommend House of Dun, the Blue Door Walk, Loch Lee walk, Edzell Castle (not to be underestimated from the look of it from the drive up to it). Within an hour's drive of Balmoral, Glamis and Edradour Whiskey Distillary. Stunning scenery on the drive. We ordered our meat for the week from the local butchers in Edzell - very helpful and friendly. Lots of information in the Bothy about the local surroundings and things to do. Well stocked kitchen and a very comfortable bed. A small wardrobe instead of the rattan chest in the bedroom would be useful for hanging clothes. Apart from that, we absolutely loved it and will definitely be back!

"The Bothy was perfect for our holiday needs - small, cosy, clean, quiet, and with fantastic views."
The furnishings were basic and cottagy but comfy, and it was a place you could really relax and unwind. There's no wi-fi or mobile signal - which was a bonus for us, though some may find that traumatic. The only (slight) downside was that the TV is quite small, which was a shame for watching the Wimbledon final. There are plenty of interesting books and DVDs, plus a DVD player. A great little place in a beautiful and interesting area. The owners were very helpful and friendly too.
