  • "Thank you for a wonderful cosy warm home."

We were relaxed from the moment we stepped into the cottage. Everything was provided, the beds were comfortable and the cottage was perfect. The beaches were only minutes away, we walked to Crovie and visited many sites and castles all within 30 mins by car. The Wee Shoppee at the end of the street and a cosy pub for a night cap. Perfect Holiday. Thank you

  • "Thankyou for a wonderful stay, amazing location and beautiful equipped cottage."

We will most definitely be back. My only reservation was the dining room chairs - upon arrival I had a Teams call for work, the back of the chair gave way and luckily the kitchen window saved me from a fall - my Teams meeting had not yet started thank goodness. Chair was fixed as best as possible and was moved to rest my laptop bag on and then at dinner another chair done the same thing. All in all though a true hidden gem of a spot - thankyou :)

  • "The cottage on Main Street was lovely."

It was clean comfortable and well equipped. Gardenstown is the ideal place for peace and quiet. The only downside ,if you aren't fit, would be the steps . However we are both hovering around 80 years and managed well. Everyone we met in the village was friendly and helpful

  • "Hi it was a great week the house was was very comfortable and clean."

The only problem was the steep steps. There was no guest book to put comments in and instructions how to work the kitchen radio. Apart from that it was fantastic holiday and would go back. Kind Regards Frances

  • "We had a wonderful time in this fantastic comfortable home from home."

The amazing jacuzzi bath and steam shower were spectacular additions to this property especially after long walks in and around the village. A brilliant array of books and DVDs gave us great opportunities to cosy up in the living room at night to relax before heading off to our very comfy beds. This home is an absolute gem and would love to visit again!!!!!!

  • "The cottage itself could not be faulted."

It was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The main downside was, although advertised as dog friendly, there is no real garden suitable. Access to the cottage is either up approximately 20 steps from Main Street or down some narrow steep steps from High Street - both were well lit. However not easy for those with mobility problems. Parking could also be an issue. This said we had a very enjoyable holiday in Gardenstown and the surrounding area.

  • "My husband, daughter, dog and I had a wonderful week in the beautiful village of Gardenstown in our very well equipped and comfortable house."

Our views from the garden decking were stunning and we enjoyed using the jacuzzi bath and steam shower during our stay.

  • "We arrived in Gardenstown in the snow and the house was cold, it would have been a nice touch to have the heating on."

The house did warm up quickly after we’d put the heating on. The cottage is up nearly 20 stairs which wasn’t mentioned in the listing and wasn’t easy for my elderly mother. She was also unable to open and shut the front door which is swollen and needs a lot of force to open and close. The lockbox was located at the top door up a further flight of stairs which took us a while to find. The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen is well equipped and towels and linen provided. The jacuzzi bath was a big hit with the kids. Wi-Fi was good as was the Smart TV. Although dogs are welcome in the property there is no enclosed garden to let them out.

Climb a handful of steps to reach the decked terrace, which overlooks the crashing waves of the Moray coast; here you can enjoy a cup of tea with a view.

Enter the first-floor utility room, hosting a fridge/freezer and washing machine to freshen your clothes and continue on to explore your home-from-home.

On the ground floor, discover the sitting room, where you can curl up on sofa with a hot chocolate with the Smart TV for your entertainment.

Moving through the home, locate the kitchen/diner, certain to entice budding chefs with its electric oven and hob; afterwards settle down at the dining table to enjoy a hearty meal together.

If you fancy a break from cooking, why not get better acquainted with your surroundings and tuck-into a home-cooked meal at Garden Arms Hotel, then take a romantic stroll along the sandy bay to savour the sunset.

Embark on an adventure to Crovie Clifftop Path for panoramic coastal sights, enjoy peace and quiet at the secluded Cullykhan Beach or marvel at the historical landmark of St. John's Church & Kirkyard.

About the location

GARDENSTOWN

Banff 8 miles; Fraserburgh 17 miles; Aberdeen 32 miles; Elgin 43 miles.

The port village of Gardenstown is often linked with neighbouring Gamrie and Crovie as one community, and was founded in 1720 by Alexander Garden as a fishing village. Gardenstown borders a small sandy bay with stunning scenery flanking both sides. The village has a pub serving food all year and a restaurant, galleries and several tea rooms in season. A steep road leads you through the ancient, narrow and winding streets to the harbour where many small boats are moored. The neighbouring town of Banff boasts a relaxing sandy beach and a variety of fascinating architecture in contrasting styles, exemplified by Duff House, an impressive Georgian mansion open to visitors and home to paintings and artefacts from the National Galleries of Scotland. Banff and the surrounding area also have a good selection of shops, restaurants and hotels, which serve a fine selection of local sea foods, whilst nearby Pennan, a beautiful old smugglers village, was the location for the movie 'Local Hero'. The whole area is an ideal tourist destination, being on the North East Tourist Trail, with easy access to coastal paths and the Whisky and Castle Trails, as well as numerous golf courses, fishing, sailing, dolphin watching, surfing, climbing, great walking and of course, stunning sunsets and fabulous scenery. The Grampian and Cairngorm mountains are easily accessible for day excursions, and the North East of Scotland is protected from prevailing winds and has the driest Scottish climate with virtually no midges.
