  • "We had a very lovely time and thank you for the comprehensive briefing - it’s a very comfortable cottage with an outlook to die for!"

Perfect for our family gathering. You’re probably (understandably) happy with the Bothy exactly how it is, but as fellow holiday cottage owners, from our perspective, some v minor improvement suggestions… - rationalise and tidy out the kitchen cupboards and make a v obvious larder cupboard for folks provisions. There’s too much stuff that must never get used? Some silicon / non scratch kitchen utensils would be good - the folder says bin day is Tuesday, the door notice (there’s too many notices…) says Wednesday and when we were there, the bin was emptied on Friday! - a small gate separating the veranda from the car park would be good, especially in the summer, so small children and dogs could be allowed outside without fear of straying. The patio doors lend themselves to be opened with that view and that soundscape - Seems churlish, but the house is too warm! We tried everything to reduce the temperature in the main room without success. Makes the wry lovely log burner redundant.

Lovely gifts left which were a nice surprise also. We will be telling all our friend's and family about how wonderful it was. Thank you and a very big thankyou to the lady who takes care of it you do an amazing job.

  • "We had a lovely holiday, all be it that my husband ended up in hospital for the whole week!"

!! The location is great super views of the sea and sand, watching the tides rise and fall, the many different birds, so helpful having binoculars provided. Inside the Bothy was clean, comfortable and plenty room around the dining table for a game of cards. The girls enjoyed donning wet suits and chasing the waves on the beach through the afternoon and sometimes not until 8 or 9 o’clock at night. Lovely to be able to watch them and hear their laughter from the Bothy. The beds were comfy, plenty of everything provided even extra pillows if needed. We were lucky to use some Outside seating to enjoy the sunshine and listen to the sea. Plenty of space for a couple of cars. We enjoyed our time at the Bothy it was very restful after a difficult time at the hospital in Aberdeen. Thank you again to Mike and Irene for all their help. We would love to visit again.

Thanks very much for your kind words, we hope your husband is doing well and getting back to good health. Property Owner

  • "Nestled securely on the northern shore of Cruden Bay was the delightfully solid and locally historic Salmon Bothy and with the wall of the sunken patio area directly overlooking the rock pools and beach, it was simply exquisite."

The decorative palette within was chalky and neutral with natural elements and stylishly enhanced with textures in the form of vintage and local stylish artwork and accessories. The Bothy has been affectionately restored with elements lovingly thought through to capture a homely, luxurious and earthy feel that made us immediately feel at home. The lounge/kitchen dining room extended the length of the building and overlooked the expansive sandy bay. Lounging on the sumptuous leather we were mesmerised by the incredible view of the crashing waves which induced feelings of halcyon days of childhood summer holidays, joy, contentment and utter relaxation. With regard to relaxation, we were grateful for our bed in the main bedroom with a wonderfully firm but soft mattress that gave us blissful record-breaking hours of sleep. The décor was in the style of coastal meets classy meets calming and the owners have completely nailed it. There are so many personal elements that had obviously been curated and considered over years of loving restoration that made our holiday so very special and memorable. A simply wonderful stay, in a beautifully appointed property in a sensational spot.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and appreciated so many things Alan, the Bothy is a special holiday cottage and it is good to hear our visitors appreciate it so much. M Property Owner

  • "The Salmon Bothy is a beautiful property in a stunning location."

We travelled with our two children (9 & 10) and our labradoodle. The property is in a quiet and breathtaking position looking over the sea wall. Watching the sea from the patio is wonderful! The village has a very handy corner shop and we ate at the Kilmarnock Arms (dog friendly) a couple of times. The kitchen in the property has a good range of pots and pans, dishwasher and washing machine. The whole place is remarkably warm- the underfloor heating is really effective! Access to the main beach is a short walk along the road and over a footbridge, the dunes successfully wore the kids and dog out! We found lots of walks straight from the cottage, including Slains Castle and along to Bullers of Buchan. Countless amazing walks slightly further afield too. Thoroughly recommended.

  • "We absolutely loved the Salmon Bothy."

We knew to expect a great place from the advertisement, but if far exceeded our expectations. The house is well furnished and stocked with kitchen equipment, towels, games etc. There were even miniature toiletries on arrival and a cute gift basket with biscuits and whisky. Everything about the place was a delight. The views are absolutely spectacular, and we even saw porpoises in the bay on our second day. There's lots to do around the area, including some fabulous coastal walks and castle ruins. But honestly, you could just sit on the deck and watch the sea all day if you wanted to. We traveled with 2 dogs. While the garden is not what I would call secure, it was nice to have space for them outside, and we were pleased we could bring them along. They loved the beachside location, which was accessible by a 2 minute walk down the street. Would love to return here again sometime. Thanks so much for having us!
