We found Dufftown to be a quiet, friendly town in the middle of Speyside, part of the whisky trail - Glenfiddich Distillery is 5 minutes from this property. We found many walks in the surrounding countryside, the pubs fairly basic but very relaxed and friendly. The property is in the middle of town, with parking to the front; it looks like a conversion from an old barn & is finished to a very high standard, in a modern style belying the exterior, a very eclectic mix of paintings and furnishings, including a chandelier made from stags' horns. The one double bedroom has the walk-in shower & toilet en-suite, so it's perfect for a couple with a sofabed in the living area for a child (or two). Being dog friendly was a bonus. Definitely recommended.

About the location

DUFFTOWN

Elgin 20 miles; Aviemore 46 miles; Aberdeen 50 miles: Inverness 56 miles.

Dufftown is situated in the heart of Speyside in north east Scotland and is a thriving and lively small town. It is also right on the Malt Whisky Trail and the old saying goes, “Rome was built on seven hills, Dufftown stands on seven stills”. There are now nine distilleries in the area so a spot of whisky tasting is a must, unless you are the driver of course! Apart from the distilleries it is easy to access the world famous salmon fishing of the Strathspey area and permits can be obtained locally. Dufftown has an 18-hole golf course complete with breathtaking scenery and guests are made very welcome. In the winter months staying in the area provides great value for skiers and snowboarders as it is only a 50 minute drive to the Lecht ski slopes and Aviemore is an hour or so away, plus The Cabrach is a ‘Dark Sky Designated Area’ which is ideal for astronomers.
