  • "A lovely, spacious property!"

Well equipped and impeccably clean, we felt relaxed and comfortable here and it was a ‘home from home’. Owners were helpful and accommodating. The welcome hamper was a warm welcome. Would highly recommend and would book again if we are holidaying in this area in the future.

Thanks for the great feed back. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Malcolm and Sammie. Property Owner

  • "The West Wing is an excellent, comfortable property, with good heating and facilities, in a wonderful location."

Lots of good walks from the door, a bus service almost to the front door, and glorious countryside nearby. Only one very small criticism - a good sharp kitchen knife would be great.

Hi Ian So glad you enjoyed your holiday and thank you for the great review. There will definitely be some new knives shortly! Property Owner

The hosts were amazing and friendly and catered to our needs. They gave us a really interesting tour of the working farm that my boys enjoyed with an invitation to feed one of the calves. Lots of walks and sights and we will definitely be back as we only scratched the surface of this holiday farmhouse.

Great to meet you and your family Petra. Glad you enjoyed the tour round the farm. We really enjoy showing people around and explaining how we are trying to farm in an environmentally sustainable way. Look forward to you coming back . Property Owner

  • "Second time at the West Wing, such a lovely home from home, with the additional bonus of the wild life."

Spent lots of time watching the birds, coming to the feeders, outside the kitchen window, and deer and hares, in the fields. Owners are really friendly and welcoming. Great facilities and parking. Ideal touring base, there's plenty of local places, and a couple of hours drive gets you to some of the iconic Scottish castles, like Eilean Donan, Dunrobbin and Dunnottar. Would highly recommend this property.

The house is very big, unbelievably comfortable and very warm. It is a very beautiful farmhouse and is exceptionally clean. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the owners could not have been kinder or more helpful. There are fantastic views from every window and great walks straight from the door. This is a fantastic part of Scotland for wildlife and outdoor activities. It is also very close to Grantown on Spey for shopping and other amenities. Many many thanks.

It was a pleasure meeting you all. We always enjoy showing people round the farm. Lot's to see at this time of year when we are busy calving. Property Owner

Spent a lot of time watching the birds on the feeders outside the kitchen window. Quite a few different species and even got a red squirrel on morning of departure. Also seen deer in the fields and buzzards (I think) above the treeline behind the cottage. Hosts were friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend this cottage. Certainly planning on returning in the future.

The property

Grantown-on-Spey 3.7 miles.

This is a charming, self-contained, west wing of a traditional farmhouse on a working farm dating from the late 18th century, with the owners living in the adjacent wing, private from each other with shared access to the garden, and is close to Grantown-on-Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.

This delightful cottage is ideal for a family or group of friends who will love the space and comfort that the farmhouse has to offer, and its central location in the desirable Cairngorms National Park.

A private gravel driveway leads up to the house and spacious parking area and from its elevated position, guests will appreciate the far-reaching views from most of the windows, across the stunning open countryside to the surrounding mountains.

The sitting room is a bright comfortable area for relaxation, and overlooks the neat lawned garden whilst the kitchen with a dining area is situated to the rear of the property and is very well-equipped and homely.

There are three very comfortable bedrooms, all with lovely views, and the large lawned front garden is a simply perfect spot for some alfresco dining, weather permitting!

As you can imagine, being surrounded by such fabulous scenery, the area is a haven for wildlife and very close by is the RSPB Osprey Centre at Loch Garten, which is a wonderful visitor experience for all ages.

The area really has something for everyone, whether it’s on the mountains, on the water or on the land and are all close by.

This cosy cottage is a wonderful base from which to explore this glorious part of Scotland.
