The cottage is a very short drive from Edzell which is a pleasant village with a hotel where we had a very nice meal and a couple of cafes and a gift shop. It's easy to get to Brechin which is worth a visit and there seems to be a variety of things to do in the area. The cottage really did have everything we could have wish for and was extremely cosy and comfortable even although the weather while we stayed was pretty dire. The view when the sun finally came out was lovely from the kitchen window and the bird life at the feeders outside the windows very entertaining. The kitchen in particular was very well equipped and the very large double bed was extremely comfortable. A lovely big bathroom was also very nice. Everything was great and we will happily return to this cottage again. We enjoyed our short break here immensely and would no doubt enjoy it even more in better weather.

Rose cottage was beautiful and a perfect base to see everything in Angus. Word of caution it's idyllic peaceful beautiful and a home from home so much so you won't actually want to come home . It's a long way for us to visit but would definitely stay again if going to that area

“We have been holidaying in Scotland two or three times a year for the past 30 years and only one other place we have stayed has come anywhere near the standard of Rose Cottage.”

Many places (as a for instance) will say that linen , towels and tea towels are provided, The guest arrives, having none of these things, and finds 1 tea towel and 1 hand towel. This has actually happened to us more than a few times-so now we always take a few things of this ilk and leave them in the car if not required. In Rose Cottage there were more of these items than you would ever need. Jane and Ian were more than helpful, without being intrusive, and we knew that they were there should we need any help. Jane had left lots of little extras for us - home made biscuits, fresh fruit and cream and flower arrangements in living and bedroom. This is a cottage we could recommend to anyone completely without reservation!

It was so well equipped and beautifully decorated and furnished. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful. We loved the garden, so well laid out and well kept. We particularly enjoyed watching the variety of birds at the bird feeders as well as the rabbits and horses in the field at the rear of the cottage. The whole place was so tranquil and relaxing, we slept so well in the comfortable bed. It is an ideal base to explore the surrounding area and we thoroughly recommend it. Thank you to Jane and Ian.

Setting is fantastic ideal for a relaxing break if that's what you desire or for exploring the surrounding areas for great walks and historical sights. Jane and Ian are lovely hosts and go above and beyond to ensure you have a fantastic stay with all the personal touches from fresh flowers, to shortbread strawberries, raspberries and cream to a lovely card when they found out it was our anniversary. Would highly recommend a stay at this lovely property.

“excellent accommodation”

My husband and me were met by the owners Jane and Ian. Ian helped my husband with the luggage, then Jane showed us around this beautiful cottage. The living room has comfortable seating, lots of good books and information about the surrounding area, a wood burning fire and Jane had filled a vase with gorgeous lillies. The kitchen has everything you need, and all good quality, and there was a tray laid out with scones, jam, cream and strawberries. A lovely touch. The good size bathroom has a bath and walk in shower, again, Jane supplied shower gell, bubble bath and toilet rolls. The towels were lovely too. The bedroom has a huge bed which is very comfortable, it also has two good size fitted wardrobes and a full length mirror. There are plenty of electrical sockets. The whole house, we thought was excellent, and Jane and Ian were always on hand asking if we needed anything. I loved the way Jane filled the bird feeders every day, as I could watch finches, blackbirds, woodpecker and a red squirrel daily. We did a lot of touring in the Glens and on the coast, if you geocache, there are plenty hidden all around. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to stay there ourselves in the future.

The property

Edzell 2 miles.

This charming semi-detached cottage is attached to the garage and is set in the grounds of the owner’s home in the hamlet of Inchbare, two miles from Edzell and is surrounded by open Angus countryside.

Ideally suited as a retreat for a couple, Rose Cottage has a comfortable super king-size double bedroom which can also be set up as a twin and will easily accommodate two friends.

The cosy sitting room has a lovely woodburning stove while the kitchen has a dining area and superb open views across the fields to the Cairngorms beyond.

Rose Cottage has a shared lawned garden with a pond, a more secluded sitting area and a golf net, should you wish to spend time improving your swing before tackling one of several golf courses nearby.

Ideally situated for exploring the great outdoors, Rose Cottage is half an hour away from the superb Lunan Bay beach or the coastal St Cyrus Nature Reserve and the superb Angus Glens and the magnificent Cairngorms are reachable within an hour for world-class walking and skiing.

The village of Edzell is two miles away and has a pleasing collection of shops, cafes and bars.

An ideal base for exploring this lovely part of Scotland, Rose Cottage offers a quality retreat whatever the season.

Renowned as the Jewel in the Crown of Angus, the Victorian village of Edzell is beautifully situated at the foothills of the Grampian Mountains, 12 miles from the coastal town of Montrose.
