  • "We had a wonderful stay."

The cottage is beautifully kept and had everything that we needed. Stonehaven is a lovely little town with shops, cafes, a coop supermarket, 2 pharmacies and had enough ice cream and fish and chips to keep everyone happy. Would definitely stay again.

  • "A beautiful cottage which is clean, well maintained, comfortable and cosy."

Lovely woods and town nearby, which is walkable. Also the castle is very close. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Thank you so much forsaking the time to write a lovely review. I am very pleased to know you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The downstairs toilet didn't flush properly and the little knobs on the upstairs handbasin tap kept coming undone , so it would be good if these were fixed."

It would also be good if there were some outdoor furniture or a picnic bench, and a draining rack in the kitchen. Otherwise, the cottage was spacious, well equipped, and very clean and comfortable. It is in a quiet and pretty location. We enjoyed walking through the woods and had a lovely stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Just to confirm the flusher has now been replaced and works perfectly and the knobs on the taps upstairs have been tightened as on seemed to have worked it’s way loose. I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "My sister and I had a lovely stay at this cottage , it was very comfortable and the area was so quiet."

We would definitely stay again if we were to visit the area again. On our visit we could not find the owners fact file to explain heating instructions , internet password etc…this did not spoil our visit as we worked things out ourselves but others may have struggled .

  • "The property was very clean and in an excellent location for Stonehaven and Dunnator castle and other National trust for Scotland properties along with Balmoral."

The property needed in my view to change the mattress on the main bed soon as this is uncomfortable and put out some garden chairs to sit out in the garden.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Guests are most welcome to take kitchen chairs onto the patio. I can confirm the bed in the main bedroom has been replaced. Property Owner

  • "Having viewed this cottage on the internet and carefully picking the location in the woods, we had high expectations."

It was everything we expected in a lovely location in the woods on the outskirts of Stonehaven. The town centre was reasonably close although there was limited eating choices, we would recommend Number 44 and the Royal China. The Ship Inn in the harbour was very noisy and expensive for average food. Excellent access to the main roads (A90 and A92). The residents at number 1 were over protective about the parking spaces and considered them their private property as they have lived there for 20 years.

  • "The weather (being Scotland) was not good!"

The cottage was very warm, cosy and well equipped for a very 'chilled out' week as we spent more time indoors rather than outdoors! Very quiet location which suited us. The cottage being situated in the woods with walks from the doorstep when weather allowed, very enjoyable. Within easy reach of the town, good shops and eateries and beach (15 minutes) walk, with historical Scotland, Dunnottar Castle walkable from cottage.

  • "We had a fantastic holiday."

It was a perfect location for visiting our family in Aberdeen and such a peaceful and beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed spending time in the wood, spotting fairy doors, and walking down to the beach. We had such a lovely time that we've already booked to come back again in the summer!

  • "Lovely property and very comfortable to stay in."

I'm pleased I used a Sykes adviser, prior to travelling, as the property is a little hard to find being in the middle of a wood and off an unmarked track (decent tarmac surface though). The adviser gave me very clear directions including a satellite view. The only things missing for us were a welcome pack, a cottage manual with details on local services etc, a visitors book (you can always get good tips from previous visitors) and there was only a very small selection of leaflets on what to do locally.

  • "This cottage is set in a spectacular wooded area."

It had all amenities you could wish for and was a very short drive into Stonehaven. Lots of interest in the surrounding area including many charming coastal villages. Also good for bird-watching. Would recommend this either for couples or a family holiday.

  • "Stonehaven is my home town, I grew up there."

Sharon the owner makes for a good host, she values feedback and we found her very helpful. Beautiful cottage within former Steading quadrangle, surrounded on all sides by wide lawn perimeter then mixed woodland. Property well located for A90 access. Stonehaven itself is close by and affords a wide range of amenities including a Sea water outdoor swimming pool (Summer) the town also boasts a stunning natural harbour with two very good pubs both of which offer carefully and attractively presented meals, both also offer Real Ales. If you wish to relax and enjoy a few drinks with your meal then the local Taxi service is both efficient and friendly fare circa £5.60 each way. You may wish to visit the Internationally renowned and multi award winning Fish & Chip shop called "The Bay" which is owned by someone I have known since I was a boy, the Owner Calum is IMO a credit to Stonehaven and I am proud to call him my friend. Additionally an excellent Indian restaurant (near the town Square) Cafe's and further takeaways. For grocery shopping there is a good sized and well stocked Co-Op in town, a large Asda in Portlethen and a Sainsbury's and a further Asda at the Bridge of Dee in Aberdeen. All easily accessible. Banchory on Royal Deeside is approximately 30 minutes drive away and close by this you'll find Crathes Castle both well worth a visit. My home town would be a great place to base your holiday in North East Scotland and this lovely cottage will comfortably accommodate a family of five or five adults.
