Well what can I say apart from love being in that cottage especially at Christmas time its our 4 th time in their the only thing was just cost alot to buy logs didn't realise how much probably spent 200 just in logs but haho should of just got one massive bag but anyway the only thing is leaving the cottage behind just love stopping hear and I will keep coming back only thing I could say is some new pots and pans I had yo buy a bigger pan just because other not so big but that's just nip picking so that's it for another year but I'll BE BACK

Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us again. We understand the logs are very expensive, we do apologise for the extra cost it added to your holiday. We will make sure to get some new pots and pans. Property Owner

Although Without the fire it was very cold in the main rooms and wasn’t as clean as it could have been with old hair and cobwebs/spiders all over the place. Had a really great time though and am recommending it to others.

First impression Quaint. Facilities everything you needed for your stay . Lovely quiet location to chill and relax . Plenty of places to visit We found Peterhead prison, Fraserburgh Lighthouse and Fyvie Castle really interesting, we also got to see the dolphins at the lighthouse . On the downside externally the grounds don’t look maintained there are weeds around the house and the foliage around the cottage has overtaken the front of the house , takes away the beauty of the cottage , guttering is full of debris and when we had a heavy downpour the kitchen was flooded came in through the back door . Sky light in the kitchen is cracked and water dripped through on to the table . Smoke alarms are not in working order , some light bulbs do not work and have not been replaced . The building facing the cottage which is named The Pub was not fit for purpose as per the pictures table tennis and pool ( which we was looking forward to using) it had birds in there and every where was full of bird poop, so we could not use it not fit for purpose ( we did mention this to the owner and he swept it ) but you could not use it as there was still poop everywhere .Cleaning needs attention to detail all light sockets were dirty on top, bathroom taps were grimy around the base , the kitchen sink was dirty just needed a bit of elbow grease to clean . Some of the glasses which were once a set of four have not been replaced for example only three wine glasses . There were leaflets available for sight seeing suggestions but it would be nice to see a sightseeing recommendation book , the visitors book was full so unable to leave our feedback . Lastly we met the owners briefly on our way out one day seemed very nice , downside was we phoned them twice to discuss a couple of issues our calls were not returned a bit disappointing. Overall the cottage is in a good location just needs some TLC .

The courtyard light was not on/working and we were not sure which was the right property. Once inside we were delighted with the quirkyness of the place. My two teenage granddaughters loved the mezzanine and adopted it as their own space. The beds were very comfortable. I noted in previous reviews that there were complaints about the shower running out of hot water but we didn’t find this to be a problem. The girls also loved the games room “pub” and of course the hot tub. There are many lovely walks and places round about but our favourite place was the beach between Banff and Whitehills. Long flat sandy beach interspersed with many interesting rock pools. We had a great time and every one enjoyed themselves. Thank you.

Our biggest gripe would be the lack of hot water for showering Luke warm at its best and only one person could shower before it ran cold. The central heating was non existent in the lounge and Kitchen due to radiators failing to get hot although they worked well in the hall and bedroom.we were having to light the wood burner every day to be able to enjoy a comfortable evening this was an added cost as logs were chargeable. Overall we enjoyed our time there. With some TLC and maintenance carried out it could have been delightful. We would like to have at least come across the owners at some point during our stay. Once at home we read other reviews and it would appear that the heating and hot water situation has been brought up several times before and not been resolved.

Firstly, we would like to send our sincere apologies that the property was not at standard. We have now had a change of cleaning company and addressed the issues you mentioned. We are disappointed in the heating and hot water issues as only a reset button was needed to resolve the problem. The property could do with a bit of updating and tlc and the location of the freezer and washing machine is not user friendly. • "Firstly a great location and a very nice ( and quirky !"

) place to stay, and would recommend. Great enclosed courtyard for the dog and for us to sit out in, and the games room (pool & ping pong) were great. Useful forest track nearby to take dog out in morning and evening. We did enjoy our stay. Very close to the coast. However, get a feeling that this place is a wee bit tired with some minor issues. The wetroom had no place to put towels or toiletries, and there was no toilet roll holder ( though it looks like there was one before): it doesn't quite match the photo. Heating was great, but hot water only just hot enough for shower ( with it on max) - especially in such a big room. Kitchen was well equipped (cooker looked new), but a couple of baking trays would have been useful. Wood burning stove was a bit dodgy, but useable, as door won't lock closed ( we use one at home, so we are familiar with them): this was reported to the owner. However plenty of wood. Some light bulbs were out and missing in some places which made living room a bit dark as plants outside windows were covering them. Internet was intermittent ( e.g. all our devices reported "Connected, but no Internet" several times during the week), though I suspect that is more the rural location: ended up using quite a bit of 4G mobile data. The games room was really a good and welcome addition and a place to chill in the evenings, but could have done with more lighting and more than one decent pool cue ( and some chalk !), but it was fun, as was the ping pong. I wish more places had something like that. Overall, though, not bad at all - and recommended !

  • "We had a lovely weeks visit up to Milltown House from 24th to 31st of October 2020."

The cottage is exactly what I was expecting - quirky, cosy and welcoming. There is a wood burner to keep you warm in the evenings, which I (Greg) thoroughly enjoyed lighting and stoking each night - who needs a tele! There was a fantastic Hot Tub which our wee boy loved, even if the two adults didn't quite get to "relax" in it, it was a much appreciated bonus to the property. The beds were comfy, and the absolute silence from being so remote was well needed. The Cottage is situated in a brilliant Rural area, with access to local villages/towns with plenty of outdoors-y things to do. We went up to Banff and MacDuff, as well as down to Haddo House Country Park near Methlick, the latter of which is stunning with a great park for kids. Also nearby is Turriff, where we would nip to for bits and bobs at the local Tesco. We had dinner in Turriff a couple of nights and would highly recommend "The Rustic Grill", it was probably the best meal my partner and I have ever had. If you fancy a chippy, we would recommend Dolphin Fish and Chips in MacDuff, again in our top 3 chip shops ever visited. Jamie, the owner, is delightful and couldn't do more to make his guests feel at home. My parents visited us and stayed at his wigwams which are lovely too. The only comment I would leave for improvement is attention to detail in the cleanliness - the house overall was clean, but there was thick dust in some places and the ping pong table needed sorting out. Overall, a lovely visit and we would definitely come back - and probably book out his adjacent cottage "The Orangery" too!!

The place was absolutely freezing cold. The hot tub was completely empty with a hose left out for us to fill it up ourselves which meant an eight our wait for it to get hot.The Jose was broken and riddled with holes.i only ever stay in places with hot tubs and never ever have I arrived to find it empty with instructions on how to fill yourself. No where in Sykes description does it even mention this. This is my birthday celebration and I am disappointed to say the least and feel one day of my three day break was spoilt as I only booked because of the hot tub.We are still here it’s our first night and I feel you need to compensate me for not being able to use the hot tub until what will be well into the second day of my break.I would not recommend nor will I recommend Sykes as your accommodations were not fit for purpose and so against trade descriptions.I will be looking for compensation for one day and I hope someone gets in touch as my trip advisor review will not be a good one.Who ever turns up to a holiday property with a hot tub to find it devoid of water and asked to fill it themselves and I may add without any chlorine or chemicals

Many thanks for your valuable feedback, we are very disappointed that one of our properties has seemingly let us down and not provided you with the experienced that we had hoped for. We have been in contact with the property owner on your behalf and have tried to call you to discuss the points you have raised. Please call us at your earliest convenience so we can assist you further in this matter. Our lines are open 7 days a week from 9am until 7pm. Property Owner

  • "Jamie was a fantastic host - he popped round to check that we were settled in and warm enough :) Nothing was too much of an effort and he even took us on a run to his farm."

The rest of the time we felt completely isolated and it was like having our own little world away. We spent one of the evenings stargazing in the hot tub, the house itself was spacious and when the fire was on it was so cosy. Wonderful. We will be back to Millton house in summer 2019 to take advantage of the coastal walks. Wish we could've stayed longer! I would strongly reccomend this cottage as one to stay in, and the price was so reasonable. Thanks!

  • "Milltown House is a beautiful spacious converted barn."

It had a lovely sitting room and the fire is especially great. The beds are very comfy and warm. There are all the white goods you need (even a dishwasher) and a hot tub (our favourite bit). Jamie, the host, is so welcoming and had loads of great advice about what to see and do, he helped us have the best stay we could and made the excellent cottage superb. I thoroughly recommend Milltown House and this part of the country too Aberdeenshire is beautiful and had many great places to visit. It had great whisky and castle trails nearby and a stunning coastline. We stayed at the start of November and the weather was superb. I can't recommend Milltown House enough, if you're thinking of visiting Scotland for the first time or visit regularly for your holidays, come here, we'll be back for sure!

  • "The whole family loved this converted barn."

The hot tub was a complete hit (take some crocs/flip flops to cross the gravel)! Jamie was welcoming & helpful. We loved the forest walks locally & trips to the coast. It took us about an hour to get to Aberdeen for a cinema trip. The house was lovely - lots of space, lovely & clean. Welcome box was a lovely suprise. The fire kept up super warm. Thanks, we'll be back!

  • "What a place."

The cottage and surroundings are fantastic, and the stove fire and hot tub are pure luxury after a big hike or drive. There is so much to do within a half hour drive and even within 10 mins there are some of the most staggering beaches and coves. Jamie couldn’t have been a more friendly host, living only 10 mins from the property: he and his brilliant family put some incredibly thoughtful touches into our visit, which he knew was for our anniversary. I cannot recommend Milltown enough!

  • "A wonderful little hideaway."

Jamie has done a great job with this conversion and makes you very welcome. He is an excellent host, not intrusive, but available if you need him. We were too busy hiking and biking to take up his offer for a tour of the farm. Very thoughtful welcome with Some items left in the kitchen to settle you in,which included grapes picked from his own vines, which were lovely. A great place to relax and chill out, the hot tub and log burner making the nights perfect after our days activities. Will recommend to my friends.

  • "We really enjoyed our week here."

The house is in a beautiful setting and has a lovely outside sitting area overlooking the pretty courtyard: it's warm, tastefully furnished, with well equipped kitchen, and very comfortable beds. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful - filled up the hot-tub for our grandchildren and took us on a very interesting tour of their farm which is nearby. There's a good supermarket in Turriff and plenty to do in the area but it's tempting to just enjoy being at home in this cottage. We would definitely come back if we came to Scotland again.
