"Had a wonderful stay here with my family for my 50th birthday."
The house was everything we could have hoped for and more. It was very spacious and clean, cosy and comfortable. The hosts were very accommodating. We hope to return again.

"The cottage was quaint and homely ."
The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break or for a base to explore the highlands . It has a Well equipped kitchen . It has a large tv with free view box . We did take out fire stick with us . So we had our Netflix Disney + etc . The Wi-Fi was a good speed .
Only things I would improve was the mattresses , they were Hard. I prefer a softer sprung memory foam mattress . But that’s personal choice I guess .
We will definitely return.

"We had a lovely week at Keltie."
It is a spacious, clean, well equipped cottage. Although the parking is on the street, we never had an issue getting a space right outside. We had difficulty setting the heating levels but a call to the owners meant they were instantly able to sort it remotely and the cottage was toasty and warm. Portknockie is a great location for exploring the area with local walks around town and along the coast and good road access. The extra safety measures currently in force are followed assiduously by the local cafes and restaurants. Stand out local eateries include the Portknockie Fish and Chip Shop, the Seafield Arms in Cullen, Bijou by the Sea at Portessie and The Old Kirk Cafe/Bistro in Fordyce. We’d happily come back for another stay at Keltie.

"Great base for touring the area."
Very spacious! A bathroom, shower room and toilet upstairs. Pity there wasn't a toilet downstairs as it would have made a big difference to my personal comfort.
Sleeps 8, so it would be beneficial for the owners to put a shower over the bath for big groups staying, otherwise there'll be queues for the single shower room.
Lovely beach walks to Cullen and
Findochty and many dog friendly pubs. Enjoyed Cullen bay hotel.
Also good bus service right outside the door. Didn't use the car much as parking was on a first come basis. Tesco 8 mins drive away.
Would definitely recommend accommodation though we didn't have much communication with the hosts.

"Door locks very difficult to operate."
Bathrooms needed a good clean. Upstairs twin room window leaking. Ceiling coming down over kitchen window. Broken lamp in sitting room. No cover on hall ceiling light. Broken dining chair. All bedding, pillows need replacing. Stained mattress cover rear double bed. All mattresses are worn out. Worst of all was the state of the front double room mattress, stained beyond belief. If we had seen it at the start of the holiday we would not have stayed. We do have photos!

"The main lights in the living room and in the dining area were very dim, so brighter bulbs would have been nice, as we sat and read in the evenings."
Towels in both the bathroom and the toilet, and maybe more towels available, since there were two women there with long hair, so we needed a towel for that as well as for drying ourselves.
Cottage was lovely, though requiring a lick of paint here and there, and we slept really well there - unusually for me!

"The cottage was in a great location, prime site for touring the area."
The village was lovely and the locals very friendly. There are not many facilities in the village now - the shop/ post office is up for sale, very low on stock and reduced opening hours. The fish and chip shop is excellent but you will have to queue - well worth the wait, and the opening hours are short. The local pub seems to be on reduced opening hours and not very inviting from the outside.
Keltie has the potential to be a great cottage but currently it is looking a bit jaded. Paintwork and wallpaper is in need of a freshen up, the window in the upstairs front bedroom (the one with single beds) has a broken bottom hinge and demands some ingenuity if you open it and then try to close it! The front door has gaps around it and it was very windy during our stay - lots of draughts and rattling! Some of the bedding is looking past its best. There is a request in the cottage for guests to put out the bins on a Sunday. The elevated nature of this property and several flights of steps makes "putting the wheelie bins out" a bit of a challenge, especially for elderly guests. Beware of the upstairs flue for the boiler which is just about above where the wheelie bins are kept. We noticed on several occasions that when the boiler ignited it also ejected significant amounts of water from the flue onto anyone walking past below. The flue does not have a venting cap over it which suggests that when it rains water gets into the flue pipe and sits there until the boiler fires up. The rear patio needs weeding and the furniture is looking a bit fragile/ tired.
There is very good, free wi-fi (does not appear to be limited to a certain number of laptops/ tablets or phones) and free-view TV in the property. However, the mobile signal for this area is poor. There is a landline for guests and an honesty box but there seems to be a bar on calls to mobiles. But you can use the telephone aspect of apps, such as Whats App, to piggy back on the strong wi-fi signal with good, clear results.

"We were all very happy with the accommodation, the kitchen was well stocked with utensils, appliances, crockery etc plenty of towels were supplied, beds made up on arrival and there was coffee, tea, sugar there if you hadn't had a chance to shop before arrival, cleaning equipment supplied."
..It felt like a home from home.
The chippy down the road, about a 5 min walk is highly recommended, wish it was closer to home, staff were lovely and food exceptional, it gets very busy so a good idea to call the order in! There's a Tesco about 10/15 minutes drive in buckie and fuel at the Tesco petrol station is much cheaper than other petrol stations in the area. If you get a chance then we'd recommend booking a meal at The Galley in Whitehills and getting ice cream or sorbet from Portsoy ice cream parlour, they are all homemade and have 26 rolling flavours out of just over a hundred to choose from.
There's an abundance of castles and waterfalls to visit, inchberrie is worth a walk around with your camera to hand. Portknockie is a great base to explore from, the cliff walks are glorious and bow fiddle rock is picturesque, both of which are a short walk from the fishing cottage.
