  • "Fantastic holiday, we really didn't want to leave."

The cottage was amazing and the location was stunning. Roger was so warm and friendly and was there to welcome us and explain how everything worked, he even left us some treats in the fridge for breakfast. The cottage was above all of our expectations and having stayed in more cottages than we can count this is definitely the best. We think we left a little of ourselves in Portknockie and look forward to returning again for another adventure.

It was so good that when I stepped into my own house on return I was disappointed! It’s extremely well equipped, impeccably clean and has super comfy beds. Even the TV was better than my own one!! Loved it and we plan to return.

Every thing about it is of the highest possible standard. It is the most comfortable, well equipped and beautifully furnished cottage one could wish for. The icing on the cake was Roger the owner. He was there to welcome us and show us the setup, which included lots of delicious breakfast delights in the fridge ! Not only that, he contacted us after a few days to ensure that we had settled in and had no problems. Once we returned home he enquired to see if we had a safe journey back. We have never before had that kind of consideration ! WE WILL BE BACK !!

  • "We had a great week staying at Moray Mirth."

The owner met us on arrival and clearly and quickly explained where everything was and how it worked, but there’s also a great folder full of info. The house was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for the week of sunshine, showers, beach days, picnics and walking. Perfect little back porch for the dog and garden dog friendly too. The cottage is very spacious and had more than enough room for 3 adults, 2 kids and a Labrador. The village is lovely and everyone so friendly from Alan in the pub, the ladies in the spar next door but one and the fishermen down at the harbour. Harbour was great for afternoons of jumping into the sea/paddle boarding and it’s just a 6 minute drive to the gorgeous Cullen beach. A fabulous house in a fabulous location. Little touches like fresh flowers and loaf of bread and eggs and bacon made it perfect!

  • "This is undoubtedly the most expensively and well equipped holiday cottage that I have ever stayed in, in the past 20-25 years."

Where else would you find a pair of Tartan clad armchairs, and on each one, a 'toy daschaund' clad in exactly the same tartan. The television was enormous, and perfect, seemingly with all the Sky bells and whistles already paid for. Everything was top quality. I slept extremely well, the kitchen was very well equipped, and the upstairs bathroom had underfloor heating. The village of Portknockie was lovely, a Spar shop 2 doors away for early morning rolls and newspapers, and plenty of parking on the road. The Chippie, about 50 yards away, serves an enormous menu, very efficiently, and all of superb quality. This was my first visit to this part of Scotland. The beaches were superb, I especially liked Cullen Beach, but be careful of the tide, although you can always escape up the bank to the footpath beside the golf club. There is an enormous range of tourist attractions in this part of Scotland, loads of very interesting shops in all the towns and larger villages, and everyone is 'So Very Friendly'. There are probably 20 or so Whiskey Distilleries within 2 miles, and I didn't find time to visit even one of them! { but I was also driving}. Go again - you bet !!!

  • "I would truly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to get away from the fast pace whilst still being in civilisation."

The fishing town is very quiet, yet friendly whenever you do bump into folk, you have key amenities within 5 minutes drive(you do need a car for this spot), a central pad to explore further afield including Cairgorns National Park or Inverness and northward, and great for dog walks being on the Moray walking trail. The eggs and bacon were a wonderful addition on arrival ... would go back in a heartbeat and missing Cullen's sandy beach beach already!

The kitchen was well equipped with everything and more that we needed and was also of very good quality. The bacon, eggs, milk and bread that the owner Roger left was very thoughtful and much appreciated. There was everything we needed right on the doorstep! Spar, coffee shop, excellent fish and chip shop, pup and hotel where we enjoyed a lovely evening meal on our last night of our stay. There are plenty of lovely villages around to visit and would recommend the ice cream parlour in Portsoy!

Roger was there to meet us and showed us around explaining everything we needed to know. The house itself was very clean and homely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bedrooms were brilliant and the duvets and beds very comfortable. It was lovely coming back to the house and putting on the fire and keeping warm in the living room. It was brilliant having sky in both the kitchen and living room and all the games in the house gave our wee boy something to play with. Overall a fabulous place to stay and we are already thinking of coming back. Thanks to Roger and Nicola for Bens lovely gift. He was super impressed that you knew it was his favourite toy.
