  • “We have all really enjoyed staying at Rottal Farmhouse over the last week, the house had everything we could possibly need!”

The views from the house across and along Glen Clova were definitely a highlight, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility that the Glen has to offer. The property has an enclosed garden allowing for our dogs to be safely let off their leads. It was also a good location for us to visit other properties and castles in the surrounding area allowing for plenty of good dog walks and a chance to experience the beauty of the magnificent countryside. We highly recommend Rottal to anyone and plan to ...

Rottal Farmhouse And Bothy

A farmhouse and bothy just 150 yards apart, set on a working farm just outside of the Cairngorms National Park, 12 miles from the town of Kirriemuir in Angus, Scotland. These cottages are ideal for family and friends to come together and enjoy a fantastic break in a beautifully secluded location. Both properties keep the original wood panelled walls and ceilings that the farmhouses have always had. They are both wonderfully decorated, they have charming and rustic features as well as comfortable sitting rooms, well-equipped kitchens, WIFI, cosy bedrooms and lovely outdoor areas with the Rottal Burn trickling past. They are perfect places for people who love the outdoors, with great walking, scenery, cycling and fishing all available upon your doorstep. The location is very secluded, with the nearby town of Kirriemuir boasting a good range of shopping, restaurants and pubs to choose from. There is also a museum and the birthplace of J.M Barrie is available to visit. The nearest place of note is Dundee some 29 miles away, however it is certainly worth visiting with its beautiful buildings and great range of things to do. The coast is also within driving distance.

The property

Kirriemuir 12 miles.

A charming, detached farmhouse on a working livestock farm, on the owner’s estate, in the middle of the majestic Glen Clova, on the fringes of the Cairngorms National Park, 12 miles from the town of Kirriemuir.

This well-appointed house provides spacious, comfortable accommodation, this cottage is ideal for families or friends looking to get away from it all and enjoy the tranquillity of a highland glen.

The internal property has benefited from a significant upgrade in July 2020.

Note: This cottage can be booked with Ref. 967381, together they sleep 12.

About the location

KIRRIEMUIR

Dundee 18 miles, Aberdeen 55.2 miles

Kirriemuir is a lovely red sandstone town in the valley of Strathmore, regarded as the gateway to the Angus Glens, which offer some of Scotland's most unspoiled landscape. The town is home to the birthplace of novelist JM Barrie, creator of the much-loved children's character Peter Pan and the house is now a museum looked after by the National Trust for Scotland. A statue of Peter Pan can be found in the town. Kirriemuir also offers an Aviation Museum, Glamis Castle and the historic Pictish Stones at Meigle, while the Angus Glens offer great hill walking and climbing. With a fine variety of shops, hotels and pubs in the town and surrounding area, there is something here to suit all tastes.
